Photobucket concerns

I noticed this when updating my changes,
I changed my settings on several things:

Facebook has agreed to let a third party advertisers use your posted pictures without your permission. Click on SETTINGS up at the top where you see the log out link. Select PRIVACY. Then select NEWS FEEDS AND WALL. Next select the tab that reads FACE BOOK ADS

I looked at the log and found my daughters that passed away's picture had 3,000 hits, some of my own had thousands.

Now I want to get my account off there....My friends told me even if I make it private Photobucket still allows access.


I saw on HL news today a person emailed a woman that her baby son;s picture was on a Craigs list AD for an adoption scam.
SCARY...
I know I use my dd picture in my signiture, it helps me to have it there, but to know others are potentially using it is disturbing.

How do we know how any of our pictures are being used, and where?

Maybe add a copywrite to the photo before we put them up for enjoyment??

This isn't quite as dire as the email portrays and facebook has also addressed it.

Maybe all of those hits on your daughter's pictures is because of your signature picture. Every time anyone opens a thread that has your post on it, then the picture is retrieved from photobucket so it can be seen on your signature. So having several thousand hits on your daughter's picture would be quite conceivable.

if you took the photo you own it. the copyright exists at the moment of capture.

anyone that is stealing photos is not going to care a bout a little © somewhere on the photo. your only hope would be a huge watermark covering most the picture making it undesireable to use.

I also get thousands of hits on my doggy pictures. the two below have 460 hits in the first two days of august.

If the EULA states they can use the pictures they can use the pictures regardless of the copyright. Many sites will apply a creative commons copyright to any picture that is uploaded.

If you use a pic in your signature every time a page loads that you posted on a hit will register on your picture.

I don't care if photobucket uses my pictures anyway. I have my profile on Facebook wide open so anyone can see it.
