Would anyone be interested in a photo thread? Not just displaying but where we can post queries eg where's the best position to photograph the castle, what's the best film speed to use for pics. I'm not thinking of anything highly technical - I'm a dedicated snapper myself and go glassy eyed when I go in Jessups and they blind me with science. We've seen some fabulous pictures on here and I'm always wondering how they were taken.

Oh yes definitely, fabulous idea!

I'll start off - what camera does everyone use?! I need a new half decent digital camera as my old Olympus 2.1 Mega Pixel on is tired and not too great...

Also, what would you like to see more pictures of?

I have a Polariod 3030 - my first digital camera and I love it to bits. I'm still learning the best way to use it since my SLR camera doesn't have anything adjustable on it. I've been trying to figure out the best way of photographing the lighted displays using either the digi or my normal camera ie to flash or not to flash, that is the question. The consenus appears to be not in the rides themselves but if I'm taking a pic say on main street and I'm close enough it might help.

Hello, my eyes are going agai....... :lmao: :lmao:

This may seem :offtopic: but bear with me.

Last night I was in the garden at home trying to photograph our bat. He appears regularly after the midges in our garden. Anyway. I finally gave up trying to snap him mid flight and resorted to using the short video clip facility on my camera. It worked out surprisingly well and I've been able to get some nice stills of him hurtling round the garden. Then a thought struck. Would the same method work if I filmed Fantillusion? I would dearly love some still pics for my album but I'm not sure that my camera is up to it. I would not have thought I'd get decent footage of Batty to be honest, the light was quite poor but I wonder if the bright lights of Fantillusion might pick up better on video footage than snapped as a still.

Any thoughts gratefully received.
