Good photos!
We have a really nice zoo in a good setting here in NC. Our favorites are the cougars, we have *so* many photos of them.

We are huge fans of the NC zoo, some where there is a bench with my Rottn' ones name on it as a memorial to her. The NC zoo does some great things and honestly their level of care for the critters is top notch.

Man do I miss living close enough to enjoy it more than once a year

The Zoo is in Asheboro www.nczoo.org Its not far off US220 at all (aka I73/I74 when they are done) Very easy to get to from Greensboro area ie I40 and I85

These are from a Wild animal Park in the Pocono's, PA


This is George, a nearly 2 year old lion.

Thanks richard_andmel. The lions seemed to be very interested in the clicking sounds that the cameras made. We were able to get a few lucky shots.

Thanks boBQuincy. I agree that it is a very nice zoo in a beautiful location. We like going there in the fall when the leaves are so colorful. We missed the cougar this trip. Your photo is great.

Plannergirl so sorry for the loss of your loved one. That is a beautiful place to have a memorial.

Hi Everyone.
I have some pictures that my husband and I took at the NC Zoo on Saturday if anyone would like to see them.
We were both using Nikon D40s. We had a 18-55 lens on one of the cameras and a 55-200VR on the other.

Thank you hjd0411. It is a very pretty setting for a zoo. The lions are usually asleep when we see them so that was a nice change for them to be moving around and looking at the cameras.

i'm a real beginer with cameras, but really interested. are the best cameras the mosts where you can removes the lens and change the over, most just you nomral fit in your pockets cameras, i have a sony cyber shot p200, what kind of camera should i have?

The lion pic was taken through the wire fence. Im amazed how it didn't show up on the photo.

Heres one from the same visit taken through really thick, (like 25mm), dirty glass. It came out better than I expected.
I call this one "Happy Feet" .....

The North Carolina Zoo is one of the better one's I've visited. Huge enclosures for the animals yet good photo opportunities still exist.

I'll have to visit them soon too..I have a membership at the Bronx zoo..Love it there also!

PS As a matter of fact the photo of my DGG ( head down) in my sig is taken at the NY Botanical Gardens just about next door to the zoo..
