1. I'm not patient.
2. Then I'd be several months without an upgraded camera.
3. Any new and better fullframe will be out of my price range. And while the A77 is over 2 years old, the A99 is really only 1 year old.
4. There will likely be a new A79 -- and this is what I might regret waiting for. But it won't be as cheap as the current A77 pricing. It may essentially incorporate some of the stuff from the A99, but it's not likely to be revolutionary.
5. If I waited, I bet the "new" A99 price will be dropping to $1999... but used prices would likely still be in the $1600+ range.

Anybody want to buy:
Sony A55
Excellent+ condition Sony 16-50 2.8 SSM lens.
Excellent+ condition Tamron 10-24 lens
Excellent+ condition Sony 35mm 1.8 SAM lens.

Debating whether to list them separately on eBay or as a package. I'll get more money separately, but it would be convenient to put them all together in 1 box to 1 buyer.

In terms of a new lens for FF.... I'm going to start with what I have. I think I'll primarily keep my 50mm macro on the camera. I may ultimately get the Sony 28-70. I just can't see spending $$$$$$$$ for the Zeiss 24-70. There are rumors of a new Sony 24-105 f4 next year. That would be an IDEAL walk-around FF Sony lens, depending on the price. I could save money by going Minolta or Tamron, but the in-camera lens support may be a reason to stick to the Sony brand this time around.

This will thin out my camera bag for now.... I'll carry: 50mm macro. 85 and 135mm primes. Minolta 35-105 zoom. And when I need telephoto, my 70-210f4 and my Tamron 70-300usd.

1. Im not patient either but my wallet leaves me no choice right now, lol.
2. Ive waited for a year and a half now to upgrade my camera so another 3 months wont really bother me plus I wont be taking any more Disney/Universal trips till then so works out for when I do get something new.
3. Very good point, if they do come out with a cheaper FF chances are it might not perform as well as the A99
4. If im going to spend that much on a A79 I might as well just spend a little extra on the A99 FF

I wonder if they would go mirror less on the next round of cameras and totally get rid of the SLT tech.

Also take into consideration on Ebay if you sold all to one and made less your Ebay fees might be higher if you make more and sell them individually so in the long run might be about the same amount.

Paypal "bill me later" gave me $10 off for trying it for the first time, and 6 months to pay the full balance with no interest!

Because yeah... I can't really afford it this month either, lol.

Your next trip might be a way off... but takes time to master a new camera, lol. Truthfully, I use my camera far less often in New York winters. So yes, this isn't my most active photography time either.

Amazon will let me "trade in" those elements for about $850 --- If they all pass their inspection. Guess I need to go home and make sure I have all caps, chargers, etc. The convenience of trading in through Amazon may be worth losing a bit of re-sale money, just for the convenience. (they will send me the box and instructions).

So I got my own A99... haven't gotten to do much fun with it yet. But I'm actually getting more impressed with the high ISO performance when used properly. This is ISO 4000, processed noise myself from the RAW file. Still with lots of detail.

Pretty sweet picture lol. The A99 is still in play for me when it comes down to it and its a plug to hear your positive review on the ISO.

The A7 didn't fair so well with another member on here and was shipped back as fast as he got it. Ill let him do his review on here if he wants to :thumbsup2

I'm amused by all the positive press for the A7. The lavish praise seems so excessive, with people praising weaknesses as strengths.

Oooh... you can adapt a million old lenses to it. But to varying levels of control -- slow AF or manual AF, no stabilization, perhaps no aperture control. So spend $2000 so you can have unstabilized manual control over lenses??

Oooh.. the IQ is similar to other full frame cameras. So being in a "tie" suddenly makes it the best?

Oooh... It's fairly small.... Though once you put an adapter on it, a large lens...... it's not really any smaller than a large camera.

It IS pretty amazing that they made an interchangeable lens camera, full frame, at such a relatively compact size. It probably does represent the future. So I understand the enthusiasm, the whole, "the future is here" mentality... but to me, it's not here yet. I fear it may be like laser disc players -- Early adopters thought they were so much better than VHS... recording is going digital! And they were right later on -- things did go digital with the CD. But the laser disc wasn't there yet.

Mirrorless fullframe may indeed be the future. Just not sure if the A7 if the first consumer CD player, or if its laser disc.

The more I use the A99, the more I like it. Though I do fear one down side --- It's similar in size to the A77. So if you are used to a larger dSLR, it's fine. But it is MASSIVE next to the A55. I do fear that the bulk may discourage me from carrying it at times.

But I am loving the level of direct control... the fast shutter, the whole build quality, the image quality. As to noise, I go back and forth as to how much better it is than the A55. When properly exposed, it can be much better. I want to play around a bit more with MFNR. Though it is present on the A55, seems to work better on the A99. May give me decent mid-size images at ISO 25600.

With having the next few days off of work I decided to get up a little extra early to get some early morning pictures over in Downtown West Palm Beach. I was blessed with an amazing blue sky this morning and tried to get as much in as I could before the sun full rose.
