Nice Kathy...I really like that low upwards angle on SSE!

(and thanks everyone for the comments on the bird shots).

Kathy, Thank you! My DD had her foot propped up on something in the car an it caught my eye. The ISO on that was 6400. Yes that's the 70200. We watched the show one afternoon but I didn't have a good position, so had to go back the next day and staked out a good spot. I did realize, however, dodging heads, that the 70200 would probably make a good blunt instument! :rotfl:
I love your EPCOT shot w/ the wide angle. I suspect that the a WA will probably be my next purchase, once my bank account recovers.

Justin, it's awesome when you go birding! Always great stuff!

oogieboogieman - ahhhh, signs of spring!

Hello all you Sony Alpha owners! I just joined your ranks yesterday when my a330 arrived via my friendly Fedex man. :) I've only made it through about half of this thread but it is such a good resource! I'm going to read all of it.

I've only taken a handful of pictures and most of those have been of mundane household objects as my battery was done charging just as my kid needed to go down for a nap. I'm still in the middle of the wonderful "Understanding Exposure" and I think some of the concepts are beginning to sink in, at least a little.

There's been one picture I was semi-happy with so far, but there was something different I was trying to do with it and I didn't push the aperture open wide enough to get the shallower depth of field that I was hoping for.

I *was* really happy with the colors the Sony is capturing and the sharpness of the focused portions of the picture. It (obviously) blows my old point & shoot out of the water.

Now I'm on the lookout for a good deal on a fast prime lens (thanks for the advice on lenses in my other thread, kat4disney!) and I was looking at tripods at Ultimate Electronics the other night. I never pictured myself carrying a tripod into the parks with me, but I think I might be doing that in October, at least one night. (What do you do with a tripod on rides? Just hold onto it?)

Great thread, everyone. I hope I can learn a lot more!

Such talent on this thread - it looks like Sony shooters ruled the weekly photo contest! Congrats to DznyFan for the win (with her Canon). That subject was great! And Mickey88 in second with one of the twins for his beautiful head shot. And Justin tied for third panning away with his A550! :cheer2:

One option is to rent a locker for the day if you don't want to carry it around all day. Most nights if I have the tripod I've done the rides earlier. Still, I have taken it on a ride or two. It hasn't been the roller coasters so I've either held it or set it on the floor. I don't know exactly what I'd do on the roller coasters.

we need to crank up the participation, see if we can get a clean sweep :thumbsup2

Thank you!
YAY!! Congrats to all the Sony shooters!

My shot actually dates back to 1995 when I was shooting a Minolta - my Sony's ancestor! The limited exif reads Canon because of my scanner.

we need to crank up the participation, see if we can get a clean sweep :thumbsup2
I agree! And congratulations! It's a beautiful shot.

I will be interested in seeing the statistics at the end of the year with how many Sony Alpha shooters are winning these contests. I think that the numbers will be impressive this year.

Heidi, thank you for reminding us about Kathy's wonderful nighttime shot from the color contest!
Code's villain shot is wonderful, too - his dark ride work never ceases to amaze me.

You know, as we see each other's work on a regular basis, we can really see each person's signature style, and particular 'forte'. It's fascinating to look at so many different perspectives of a common place and common subject matter(s).
It will be interesting to see how all of us Alpha folks fare throughout the year. Who wants to start keeping track??

C'mon fellow alphaphiles! :cheer2:

the problem is my specialty is models... the day the category is non disney, models..I'm gonna have a better chance at winning.....LOL

Thanks Heidi and Dznyfan! The Gorilla was a surprise and once in a lifetime shot for certain! Shooting thru the glass really didn't really distort the image thankfully. And Mickey's Fun Wheel is mesmerizing since they changed it. I have a whole series of the different colors and patterns that it now displays. :goodvibes

Love that shot Mickey88!
