A couple from Feb with the A850. First and third with the Sony 16mm fisheye. Capt Jack Sparrow with the Sony 50mm and cropped a quite a bit.

I did realize, however, dodging heads, that the 70200 would probably make a good blunt instument!![]()
Hello all you Sony Alpha owners! I just joined your ranks yesterday when my a330 arrived via my friendly Fedex man.I've only made it through about half of this thread but it is such a good resource! I'm going to read all of it.
I never pictured myself carrying a tripod into the parks with me, but I think I might be doing that in October, at least one night. (What do you do with a tripod on rides? Just hold onto it?)
Great thread, everyone. I hope I can learn a lot more!
Such talent on this thread - it looks like Sony shooters ruled the weekly photo contest! Congrats to DznyFan for the win (with her Canon). That subject was great! And Mickey88 in second with one of the twins for his beautiful head shot. And Justin tied for third panning away with his A550!![]()

I've only taken a handful of pictures and most of those have been of mundane household objects as my battery was done charging just as my kid needed to go down for a nap. I'm still in the middle of the wonderful "Understanding Exposure" and I think some of the concepts are beginning to sink in, at least a little.
There's been one picture I was semi-happy with so far, but there was something different I was trying to do with it and I didn't push the aperture open wide enough to get the shallower depth of field that I was hoping for.

I *was* really happy with the colors the Sony is capturing and the sharpness of the focused portions of the picture. It (obviously) blows my old point & shoot out of the water.
Now I'm on the lookout for a good deal on a fast prime lens (thanks for the advice on lenses in my other thread, kat4disney!) and I was looking at tripods at Ultimate Electronics the other night. I never pictured myself carrying a tripod into the parks with me, but I think I might be doing that in October, at least one night. (What do you do with a tripod on rides? Just hold onto it?)

Heidi, thank you for reminding us about Kathy's wonderful nighttime shot from the color contest!
Code's villain shot is wonderful, too - his dark ride work never ceases to amaze me.
You know, as we see each other's work on a regular basis, we can really see each person's signature style, and particular 'forte'. It's fascinating to look at so many different perspectives of a common place and common subject matter(s).
It will be interesting to see how all of us Alpha folks fare throughout the year. Who wants to start keeping track??
C'mon fellow alphaphiles!![]()
Thanks Heidi and Dznyfan! The Gorilla was a surprise and once in a lifetime shot for certain! Shooting thru the glass really didn't really distort the image thankfully. And Mickey's Fun Wheel is mesmerizing since they changed it. I have a whole series of the different colors and patterns that it now displays.
Love that shot Mickey88!
Mickey88, that's a cool shot! what and where is it?
SPRING!! (I think I need to weed my garden...)
