Nice shot. I've been thinking about getting this lens. It gets mixed reviews, but seems a perfect lens for vacation when one doesn't want to lug around a big camera bag. What are your thoughts on it?

I know about all the mixed reviews. For me, it has been nothing but miraculous. If I didn't write a blog for AllEars, I probably would only bring this lens and a fast 50mm (for dark rides) to Walt Disney World for every trip. When I go on photowalks around my hometown, this is the lens I bring whether morning, noon or night. It's the perfect travel lens IMO and have used it from WDW to Canada and NYC to North Dakota. Keeps my bag light in these all important times of luggage surcharges.

The latest version only has the added lock to keep it from creeping (which mine does if I don't make sure it's at 18mm when walking with it) so you might find a good used one with little use from a pixel peepers. :)

Here's a thread on NikonCafe (started by Jeff Fillmore aka GDad) you might want to look over: A Little Love for the 18-200VR

We went to the Mexico City Zoo yesterday (it's free by the way :thumbsup2), and I got a shot of this guy. For some reason I just don't think he liked me very much:

My first offering to Nikon POTD. Thought this guy was so funny. It's like he was looking for something in there. In front of the Temple of Heaven, China Pavillion.

Don't bring it often to WDW but the 70-200VR f/2.8 is a piece of excellent glass. Click on photo for its flickr page.

Wow, awesome shot Scott, I especially like the little bit of fire that's still in his mouth. :thumbsup2

Here's mine for today:

From Gettysburg tonight... It's a Witness Tree, which means it was standing at the time of the Civil War and "witnessed" the battle. Atop Devil's Den.

Love this picture and this tree! I go every year and just sit under that tree at Devil's Den for at least an hour.

our cat, Arwen. One of the first photos i took with a DSLR,and i consider it one of my best photos. I was just in our backyard, taking pictures of the cats, and took this one. Enjoy!:)

Got a chance to wander around the Massachusetts North Shore this past weekend. Didn't get anything spectacular. Lighting was just ok. I'll share more when I get uploaded.

Here is Plum Island Light from Newburyport, Ma
