I caught this little guy peeking out from behind his mom this weekend using just my 18-55 kit lens. I need some better glass but can't make up my mind between the 55-200vr and the 70-300vr. I like the reach and build quality of the 70-300, but I'm tempted to go with the 55-200 and a faster prime like the 50 f1.8 or even the 50 f1.4 for about the same price as the 70-300. Any suggestions?

FWIW ... I have the 55-200VR and the 50mm f1.4 prime and love both the lenses but now I find myself wanting more reach because of the types pictures I mostly find myself taking. As soon as someone has them in stock again I am going with a fixed 300mm f4 for a little more reach. You might consider going with the 70-300 and saving for a 50mm 1.8 which can be purchased very reasonably(under $150) these days. It probably wouldnt take you long at all before you have the funds to have the longer reach AND a nifty fifty Good luck!!
All I can say is ................. NAS is serious businesss
