Photo Sharing - Nikon Part 2

Scott, what a sun flare! I love it! I don't know what it is but I love capturing them. Great composition. How have you been editing lately? I'm curious because I just got CS5 from a friend but have been using LR3 and Topaz Adjust.

Traylorc, great kitty shots. I have never been one to get good animal shots.

Thanks, a mix of, Lr, Photomatix, Adjust and Ps to clean up dust spots which have been terrible as my lens got dirty at Castaway Cay and I didn't catch it until I got home and saw the shots. Lr has a great spot removal tool, but my computer gets bogged down using Lr's spot removal tool. At least I learned a lesson to always check the lens for junk before shooting.

Yeah Scott, I know what you mean about dust or dirt. I recently switched to mirrorless, where the sensor is out in the open. It's like a dust magnet when changing lenses.

For the most part my sensor says clean, it is the lens that gets dirty especially on a tropical island coupled with an early morning storm while out on deck.

Traylorc, what are you shooting with? What lens? These animal shots are just awesome! I need to visit your zoo.

Thank you....I appreciate the kind words.

As for what camera I shoot....I should admit up front that I am an overly ambitious amateur with a serious electronics addiction. :) I will be the first to admit I still have a lot to learn as a photographer.

I shoot with a Nikon D4. The shots were taken at the Phoenix Zoo. The lens I used was the Nikkor 300mm f/4.0D ED-IF AF-S and a 1.7 II teleconverter. I really like this lens, it's sharp (even wide open), nice contrast and colors, and light weight. It doesn't have VR, but I don't think it's necessary unless you are shooting in low light. More importantly, this lens is a bargain when compared to the Nikon 70-200mm VR II.
