Photo Sharing: Canon Part Two

^^^^ Very nice DOF on this. What do you think of the 85mm lens?

I'm really impressed with the 85. It's really sharp even wide open. I've been using the Fuji and Sony morrorless cameras for a while and was really amazed by the focus speed of this 85 with the USM motor.

That's great to hear. That might end up being something I need at a later date. :)

I would love to know more about this picture!

What would you like to know? :) That shot is from the end of Illuminations. I was running a bit late to find a decent spot - it was pretty crowded that night for some reason. So I asked a CM if I could go up to the balcony at Teppan Edo's. He said it's an open area for everyone so I took my equipment up there and was a happy camper during the show. Downstairs it was crowded, upstairs I was all by myself. That particular shot was done at 18mm, f8, ISO100 and 21 seconds exposure with a ND8 filter attached to the lens. I just converted it from raw to jpg with Adobe Camera Raw, no color correction or whatsoever done.

Oh, and on a side note, this was done with a 10 year old DSLR (Canon Digital Rebel / 300D) and an equally old kit lens.

Yes, the EE shot was taken with the same camera and lens.

As of last month I joined the Canon world when I purchased the 6D! I currently have the 50mm f/1.4 and 40mm f/2.8 pancake lens.

A shot with the 50mm:

Congrats on the 6D! I just got mine this month along with the 40, 50 f1.8 and 85 f1.8.

We tested out the new Sigma 30mm f1.4 today!

Shot at 1/180 sec, f1.4 and ISO 800. I like how sharp my little angel is even at 1.4. For a kid who never really sits still, this lens is a winner!

Congrats on the new lens. I have no doubt you will love it. I loved mine for years before moving to the new ART version for my FF camera.
