Photo scanning question

When scanning a photo, does it matter whether the photo is glossy or matte? I'm worried that glossy might reflect the scanner beam, but I may be over thinking things. :>

Personally, I have had no problem no matter what the finish is, but I agree that it would seem better to have matte finish. In practice, I haven't noticed a big difference.

Some scaners have a setting for the type of media you are scanning.

Personally I have had no problems scanning glossy photos or other shiny things.

For ease in scanning, I much prefer matte finish. I have found it necessary to experiment with my scanner settings when scanning shiny brochure type items and glossy photos. If your scanner's regular settings do not produce the result you want, try the custom settings.
