Has anyone done this that can share their experience and thoughts on this option.

We would be driving down for the day from Orange County and would not be spending the night. My DH is huge into photography, and we thought this might be a great fun for him and a unique experience for the rest of us.

I have done both photo safari's the 90 min and the 3 hr. one, I enjoyed both! THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THIS! If he likes to takes pictures I highly recommend this tour. You might get to feed a giraffe and/ of rhino, this pictures of this alone are priceless! In my opinion it is worth every penny.

FYI: If you do the photo tour, skip the journey into Africa tour and save your money, you will be seeing the same thing in 30-40 min.

Thank you so much for your response. I have been to the Wild Animal Park, many years ago, but don't remember much at all. None of my family has been but they know of the camera safari and both DH and DS are really into phorography and I think this would be a unique experience for the two of them. I would just enjoy experiencing the safari with them.

Thanks also for the tip on what not to do, anything else you can suggest is welcome, too.

The park is probably very different than you remember, it has changed a lot even in the last 5 years! The monorail system is out and a new van system is in place. While this lets you get closer to the animals it cut off a good percentage of the area you saw. Thats why the photo caravan is so great. You are down in with the animals and it is a lot of fun, I would do the longer one if given the choice.
I also recommend walking to the elephants, there are quite a few little ones and they are really really cute!
I am not sure what time of year you are going, but it can get very hoy out there, but there is shade.
The lions are also a not to be missed, they are usually pretty close to the glass and they are cool to see up close. If you are a fan of bird and such, the heart of africa is a great place to roam. It is usually quiet down there and peaceful. If you but some of the food the have it's fun to feed the ducks, but they also have some rather large catfish in the pond (I AM TALKING HUGE) It's fun to see them try to get the food. (The brought the catfish in about 15-20 years ago to clear up a carp problem they were having, they now have a catfish probelm :rotfl:)

Have fun! As you might remember it is a very unique park and not like any zoo, I hope you enjoy your trip! I have 2 discount coupons ($5 off adult) tickets that you are welcome to, I know sometimes they have better deals online. Just private message me...
