All the photographers at Disney (both parks) carry a plastic card like a room key. Its free to get and can have as many as you want. They take pictures and scan that bar code so those pictures end up on your card sometime in the day. (They told us about every half hour its on the card) Then at the end of your trip or day you can go view those pictures and buy one or two or many. Or you can buy a package to include many pictures or even the CD. Once you buy the CD you own the rights to the pictures and can print them at home. The CD is pricey. Its $59 if you buy it in the park and $129 I think if you buy it from home. If you buy it in the park you get picture and no options to add fancy disney borders, if you buy it from home every picture can have borders added to them. As many cards as you want can be on teh CD.
Some people join together to share a CD cost. You put all pictures on the CD and then each pay a part of the cost. The thing is one person has to register the CDs and you all get each others picture On the CD I think.
Does this replace your camera? No way!! The photographers are only there to take pictures of people in special places. Not everywhere!! You may find them at Character places and things like the castle or small world. Its a great way to get group shots. I tell everyone in my group to get a card so we can buy it with many pictures. When we split up my girls will get pictures with out us and we get pictrues with out them. We ended up with 89 pictures on our CD over Labor Day weekend. You will still want pictures Im sure of rides and things that photo pas people arent there for.
The photo pass has enabled us to get lots of pictures with our entire family in it (not one person sitting out to take the picture) this past trip was a special one for us. My oldest daughter and I ran the Half marathon and we took pictures all over with our medals. TO me $59 was a great price to have many pictures that included our entire group. They even had us pose many times in fun ways to get cute pictures we would not have had other wise. I think $129 is a bit steep to get special borders so we bought ours at the park.
