Photo pass?

Ok I just received my confirmation from Disney Vacations it has a photopass added. I have no isea what the photo pass is. Is their a good book I can get I feel like I'm going to be lost when we go. I want the kids to get the most out of this trip as I have no idea when my husband will let me spend this kind of money again.

Photopass is a system WDW has set up where you get a card from a photographer and you can use that card to associate pictures they take of you for the rest of your trip. It's pretty convenient not to have to carry a camera around and only a little card - until it's time to pay for the photographs. Then the air is let out of the balloon.

There's no way to download these pics from the website they're kept on. You have to purchase printed pics at a very high cost and have them mailed to you, or pay $99 for a CD with all of your pics on them, and you still can't download them. I'm sorry, but $99 is absolutely ridiculous to pay for a 25 cent CD and a bunch of digital photos that I could have just as easily taken for free with my own digital camera.

We used Photopass pretty heavily on our last trip, and regret it heavily. Not only were the photos not any better than we would have taken with our own digital camera, but the outrageous costs were not in our ballpark of what we consider fair pricing for the amount of work that went in for this, which is very little, when you think about it.

If you already have a digital camera, I strongly suggest you bring it with you.

Photo-pass is a card (credit type hard ) .

When you go to the parks there are People taking photo's ( front of parks ,with charcs. and other places) you give them your card and it links the photo to the card.

Then you can either buy the photo's there on-sight ,buy a cd with all the photo's on them ,or wait and view and purchase on-line up to 30 days of photo's taken.

They can also add borders and other effects .

Now what you may have got with your package is a FREE photo when you go On-line or at the parks.

I wont be doing photopass. Will be if need be (not essential for our vacation)relying on good nature of strangers for family pics. I would and do happily take pics for a family if they asked. DH didnt pay $1700 for a camera for someone else to take our vacation snaps....

Yes I agree to an extent if they are there and it's free then it's nice to get everyone in the shot .We also give them our camera ( not a $1700 one ) and they will take a pic with that as well.We also check the photo's daily to make sure they came out as we want (if not we can get them done over).

I've seen photo's on this board that just blow me away I know most of the Photopass people I've seen taking pics. could never get these results.But for the average family this is a great service.

A good guide book for you would probably be the Unofficial Guideto Walt Disney World. It's a very good book and gives tons of info.

My and my DH used photopass a bit more on our last trip since we had a code for a free pic. It was hard to pick which one we wanted since they were all so TERRIBLE! The colors were wrong, the framing was wrong, everything was just bad! DO NOT rely on their crappy pictures of your once in a lifetime vacation. Go ahead and use it, but take plenty of pics on your own camera.

If you do use the Photopass you can also have the photographer take a picture with your camera. I did that on my last trip and they did not have a problem. Also we got some great shots from photopass.

Another book besides the Unofficial Guide is PassPorter. I have been to Disney multiple times and bought this book for my upcoming trip and really liked the book. Check out Amazon.com for the books as you can get them reduced in price and you can even get a deal on both books. Have a great trip!
