Photo Pass Question

In my packet from Disney it suggested using a photo pass and then viewing the photos at home to purchase what you like. Is there a charge for this service or just for the photos you purchase? If you can view the photos online what is to prevent you from printing them yourself instead of purchasing them? That is why I wondered if they charge upfront for the photo pass and if so how much is it.

There's no fee, but you cannot save the pictures when you are viewing them. Of course this doesn't stop the [print scrn] button

I personally would never use photopass unless they started adding ride photos to it.
