Are the photo pass photographers back from the experimental absence? Last sept went to Princess meet and greet and only got 1 picture with both my mom and I in it. Big dissappointment. Some of my favorite pics have been with the photopass With Chewie and Anna and elsa.

I hope anyone unhappy about this takes the time to email Disney about it.

Say what now? Experimental absence?!

I noticed that there were fewer PhotoPass at character interactions when we were there a few months ago. Are they taking them away? Which is kind of a bummer when it's included in MaxPass but there are rarely any out.

I think it depends on the day. Some days I noticed there were a ton all over the place, then another day I can't even find one, and if I did, their line was long because they were the only one around. I did notice that on the super hot days, they were usually parked in a shaded spot rather than in an open walk way where people could spot them.

Absolutely! And be sure to explain in detail how much PP means to you and why/how much it adds to your DLR visits. Disney needs to know that PP is really important to the guest experience and removing the photographers is having a negative impact on people's visits.

I saw on here that the photo pass photographers were no longer at royal hall. Where else? Are they still at the Anna and Elsa m&g? What about character m&g in town sq?

I have to say, one glaring difference for me between DLR and WDW is the availability of PP photographers, wow. We took a handful of PP shots at WDW, but have only done it once at DLR because there are just so few of them when we go ("off season") and it's hard to get my husband to wait in a long line.

Thanks for pointing that out! It didn’t occur me but I went and sent them a message after reading this.

There were no PP with any characters when we went at the beginning of August. None at the Royal Hall, none with A&E, none at Toontown, none with Pooh and friends. They were with the single roaming charcters, like we had one with Donald at DCA. There was one at the Star Wars M&G with Vader.

I wonder if there has been less people buying photopass as it now comes with maxpass and they haven't allotted the money that way as its all going to the maxpass budget for now.

Apparently the issue is that a higher percentage of the outdoor family photos get downloaded, particularly by people who pay for photos specifically.

This makes mathematical sense since I assume people who pick “one photo to pay for” or whatever pick a photo from the castle, or the Partners statue, or maybe the DCA pier or whatever... also, a lot of times you end up with like 4 different poses outside so you download all 4 or 3 of 4 or whatever.

Inside FF, we’d often end up with 15-20 total photos (say, 5-7 per princess), but we’d only download maybe 6.

What does NOT make sense is that “percentage of downloads” is the metric being used... but there you have it.

For me, the biggest problem is that the lighting for the indoor meet and greets isn’t conducive to phone photos turning out ok, and there’s also no reason they can’t add to the total number of Photopass photographers (which was already too low IMO).

I’ve sent 3 emails about this in 2018, and although I won’t send more, I hope others will!

Still makes no sense to me Id rather have a photo with a character rather than standing in front of a landmark or sign. EX Castle or in front of cars land. U stand in line and u cant get a picture with everyone in it, Isn't that the point?

Yes @Skyegirl1999! The lighting inside is terrible for photos! It was impossible to get good photos at the Royal Hall on my iPhone and it’s an X! If the latest one can’t get a good photo my old 6 wouldn’t have stood a chance. If they are going to get rid of PP they need to raise the lighting!

So do you think max pass is worth it since the photo pass may be limited?

Yes! It saved so much time. It’s wonderful just to walk on the ride. Almost every ride is a quick wait with MP. Buy it for rides and get what PP you can as a bonus.

Are there at least attendants at the indoor meet and greets who can take a pic with your camera?

We have been to wdw several times and was just at DL for our first time in July. I definitely noticed a lack of photopass photographers. Hardly any just out and about at the parks and probably less then half of the characters we met had them. Stark difference from wdw.

This seems absurd. Especially in toontown, we will rethink standing in line at Minnie and Mickey's house to meet them up there without a photopass photographer, especially when there are other chances to meet in town sq., DCA, etc. Its not just the better camera, and getting us all in a photo, but its also nice to just experience the m&g with my kids and let the photopass photographer worry about getting a good picture.
