Photo package questions (why does everything have to be complicated)

1) Does anyone know if they still offer a 50% off photo package when one stateroom buys a full one?

2) I know that if our other stateroom buys and we don't, then we wouldn't get any pics they weren't physically around for, but how about things where we are all present (so they can scan in or whatever) but they aren't in the pic? Like we're all at dinner, and we get a group photo, but then MY family (who hasn't paid) gets a separate photo. Would that count because the other room was present at the time?

We have two staterooms that are me and my family in one and my wife's parents/kids in the other. We are likely going to be together most of the time (they will do excursions we won't be on but we are taking it easy with a 2 year old). Any characters we encounter without them we could use our phones to take.

Thanks in advance!

Last I knew you can buy individual pics that will be just your family. But don't expect those to be included with the package purchased by the other stateroom.

1) I do not believe so. The only thing I saw was that if linked reservation / stateroom has someone under the age of 21 in it, you can while onboard ask them to link the rooms based on the original stateroom purchasing the package. But, even then, they wording is careful to say, "Anyone else age 21 and over in the joined stateroom will not be in the photos in your package or available for onboard or post-cruise downloading". Suggesting, you'll only get photos in the 2nd room that includes the individual under 21.

That said, we did this on our last cruise, we traveled with my parents and had them pay for the package and then linked our room because our daughter was in it. We got all of our photos regardless of which room key was scanned and who was in them. I even have my individual photos from Castaway with my 5k medal as I was out and back before the others were off the ship. So, who knows what will rally happen. But they do word it carefully.

2) Similar answer above. DIsney says they use facial recognition in the photos so if your linked stateroom purchased the package and you got a bunch of photos taken using their room key but they're not in them - in theory the photos without them would be deleted. I don't know if this happens in practice. As above for us, we got all of our room's photos regardless of key used and regardless of if our under 21 daughter was in them. So, I wouldn't bank on getting them if it's important to you, but you might if you're willing to gamble.

Does it make any difference if the other room has adults who are grandparents of our kid? I'm guessing probably not but thought id clarify that.

Officially, no. Unofficially, we have gotten grandparent pictures with a full package purchase.

Currently trying to figure this out. Rooms are (for Platinum perks): Me and MIL; FIL, DH, DS. I have the photo package on the room with 3 people, so really as long as Me and MIL are with one of the other three, we'll get the pictures, but no solo pics (which I'd say is just a me problem. MIL is not a big picture person without other fam).

You could reverser it and put the package on your room and link the other room with your DS if under 21. Then, you'd for sure get all pictures from your room and any from the other that had your DS in it. In practice, we got ALL of the pictures from both rooms regardless of who was or wasn't in them (which was good as our DD was never with us and spent the whole cruise in Vibe with her cruise friends). But, the wording certainly suggests they may not give you all of them.

You just have to remember, if you buy a package for a room and want to link a 2nd room with someone under 21 in it, you have to stop at Shutters on board to do so. We were asked what relationship the under 21 person had to the room that purchased the photo package and we said grand daugther and they were fine with it.

That's a good idea. I hadn't thought of it that way. Thank you!
