photo of driver license as id?

we get carded maybe 25% of the time for alcohol. our last trip, we were asked for our ID almost 100% of the time for DVC/AP discounts. The trip before, CMs would give us discounts with no ID based on them seeing our DVC magic band sliders. Most of the time they would bring it up before we even mentioned being DVC. Was great!

This was our experience as well on our trip last month. DH and I don't get carded for drinks as we are of a certain age, but for AP discounts we had to show the actual card and sometimes our ID. Several CMs even checked the back of our AP card for the signature. We also had to show ID when going into the Poly parking for Ohana. We commented that Disney definitely seems to be way more diligent on checking AP cards and ID for those benefits.

OP you can argue until you're blue in the face about why photos of important documents *should* be acceptable but it doesn't change how things are actually done in WDW. Go ahead and try it your way but be prepared to be turned away if they don't agree with you. At least your original questions were answered by people who have shared their actual experiences of having to show those cards.

I never travel with the entire contents of my purse but just take my license, debit card, credit card, and health insurance card. I put them in a zippered pocket inside my backpack. As long as I always keep my backpack with me no one can steal these cards. I've never had any problems.

I dont get carded for drinks too often but I needed it to receive any AP/TIW/DVC discounts. I dont quite understand the fear of losing things on vacation but not in real life but perhaps you would trust a travel partner with a small wallet with your basic ID, insurance card, etc. I use a credit card holder for when I don't want to carry a purse and keep it in my front pocket (its safer than a back pocket) - it fits what I need and easy to keep track of.

I had mistakenly forgotten my driver's license in the room safe wallet, but my granddaughter who happened to be with me had a photocopy of my DL. The ticket window accepted the copy with no problem as I had to show DVC card and ID when picking up the annual passes. Castmembers at the resort desk also accepted it when picking up Moonlight Madness bands and Portofino Bay Hotel accepted the photocopy when checking in to that hotel. On many occasions, when we bought something with the AP discount and they asked for ID, I told them that the AP was my granddaughter's who had no ID since she was under 18; had no issues.

It looks like the question has been responsibly answered and there is nothing more to add. Time to close this one.
