:scratchin Does anyone have any suggestions for some great photo ideas at WDW? Not the character thing...what I'm looking for are some nice pictures that I can enlarge & frame to hang in our bedroom and/or spare room (newleyweds=pretty bare walls).
I read another post somewhere around here about someone who took some beautiful pics & then had them enlarged, and I thought "that sounds fun" plus I know they'll be one-of-a-kind's (sorta!). DH & I were only at WDW once before so we don't know all there is to see & what may make a beautiful piece of "art" for our naked walls.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...I know y'all will be able to help me out here...never been let down yet!

Thanks!

Animal Kingdom is a great place for pictures. There are all the animals (mostly birds including parrots) just inside the entrance. I'm taking my fancy new digital SLR with a zoom lens this time. I plan on using the zoom to take several "close-ups" of animals on the Tree of Life and turning them into some sort of collage. Forget about getting really good pictures off the big animals on the safari ride (unless the ride stops due to an animal on the road or unless you take the AKL Sunrise Safari). You could visit AKL if you want pics of some of the bigger animals.

You could also make a collage of hidden Mickey pics.

There should be plenty of good shots around most all the resorts.

If you're looking for mystical beasts, a picture of the dragon in DTD might do.

There are lots of good picture locations around the MK. You got to have one of the castle.

Parades provide plenty of unique shots.

The various countries around the lake at Epcot have plenty of good shots. You can tell everyone it's a picture of your trip to Norway or Japan.

Just grab your camera and take a stroll - it won't take long to find something interesting.

We'll be sure to check those out! EPCOT & AK sound like great ideas! Thanks again!

It sounds cliche, but look for the Kodak picture spots. You don't realize how great these locations are until you stand there and look through your camera. They are wonderful, they show angles that enhance the location. Also, try the rose garden in MK and try the area just to the right of the castle. there is a walkway there with the gardens and castle in the background. You will frequently see Disney shooting their commercials from that spot.

If you want a great picture at EPCOT, stand by the little "garden"area on the showcase side of the fountain and look toward the entrance and the geosphere. You can get the fountains and the geosphere in one shot.

My favorite photos of WDW are of my son playing the the "ground fountains" water droplets frozen in time along with my son's look of glee.

Oh, don't forget the garden in the Canada Pavilion ::MickeyMo

You didn't mention where you are staying, but if you can get up early enough, head over to PO-Riverside. The sun comes up over the river and the steam rises in a really cool way. We were in bldg. 27 and every morning when I went for coffee, I kicked myself for forgetting the camera. So go stand in front of 27 and see what strikes your fancy! Have a great trip! Wish I was going with you. --H

...but the budget & DH won with POP!
Thanks for all the great advice, everyone!

Make the picture interesting by following the Rule of Thirds. For example, don't put the object in the center of the photo or the horizon it the exact middle. I just took a great picture of my dog and she was to the far right of the picture - barely in it. The rest was grass and sky. I'll try and post it so you get the idea.

Also take some candids so you get the real emotion. And when you get the film back, look into having a few made into black and white. What looks random in color, shows strong emotion in B&W.

Have fun...photography is fun to fool with.

MK - Rose garden in front of the castle and the wishing well behind the castle are my favorite spots.

MGM - Unique architecture with the sorceror's hat, Also, muppets fountain in the back of MGM, plus they have many backdrops that are interesting.

Try some night photography. Tomorrowland at MK is awesome. I love Epcot at night too.

What excellent ideas...you folks are awesome! I hope that we can remember these spots, if not there's always next time, right?!
What do y'all think about taking nite-time photos? I was reading some posts around here & I was thinking of picking up some 800 speed film til I read about the airport machines wrecking them. If I would get 800 or even just 400 speed, should I use the flash or not? By the way, it's not a real fancy camera, just a $50 thingamajig from Walmart til I can convince DH (or Santa) to go digital!
Thanks again to everyone...just as I expected, DISers have not let us down!

I got a beautiful shot of the kiss goodnight on the castle after the fireworks were over. From the bridge into Liberty Square, stand with your elbows on the bridge to keep your hands very steady, and take a photo of the castle bathed in light with no flash. It's pretty dramatic.

What is "the kiss goodnite?" We missed the fireworks at MK due to the weather on our first trip to WDW last year so we can't wait to see them this time!

Wanted to post that pic of my dog....if you don't mind. I think shooting it to the side takes a fairly generic moment (sleep) and makes it interesting. :)

After the fireworks are over, as most people are leaving the park, the castle is bathed in colored light which changes every 30 seconds or so. If you're in a huge hurry to beat the crowd out of the park, you'd miss it, and it's really beautiful.

It's one of "those Disney touches" that I love so much.

Here's a great picture tip from the Disney Magazine I used on one of my trips:

Just past the entrance of MGM stand in the street so it looks like your wearing the big Mickey's Sorcerer Hat. Make sure it fits! Have your subject move until it's right on top of their head. Have fun on you trip!

On our last trip DH and I took pictures of each other trying on hats of any and every description in all the gift shops. Lots of fun too! We had so many that I bought a small album just for those pics. We have looked at that more often than all our others combined!

I forgot about the hat pix. They are fun, aren't they? WDW is so nice to let people do that without buying the hats!

What a great picture of your dog!! I've always loved photography!! I wish I had some of my Disney pics online...don't know what happened to them!!
When I go back, I'm gonna do this too...and decorate my home with Disney Family pictures :)

I second the sentiment about Animal Kingdom. We did our sunroom in a safari theme with an entire wall of framed photos of all the animals.

One mistake I made at first was accidentally having my camera set to one of the lower resolution settings - any of those prints larger than 5x7 were not worth hanging. But you're probably smarter than I is.
