Photo Gallery CD Thread*MAJOR CHANGE ON PP PRICING WITH WDW & DLR. See post #303-

Going to be in DL in February; are there any special magic shots that DL has that WDW doesn't? Or anything special/locations/poses that I should take a special note of?

And as for combining WDW and Disneyland shots, Dizneydaz, when you said you asked for and received a refund for the cost of the WDW Photopass CD price down to the Disneyland Photopass CD price, how did you do it, did you call or was it automatically done when you checked out...a more specific explanation please. I'd really like to do this. Already have a WDW trip and this DL trip will be the last trip on the CD.

It was several years back when I had pre-ordered the WDW CD. I waited until I was sure that I would only be charged the DLR price and once I was sure (this was the first time I combined trips to both parks) I asked for a refund on the pre-purchase. It was credited back to the card I paid with fairly quick. I believe I sent them an email asking for the refund. You could certainly call as well. Just make sure you request it within the refund timing. I don't know what it currently is on the pre-pay. There may not even be one since you are allowed to ask for a refund if you don't like the pictures you get taken.

Have Fun!
Got mine yesterday and used my AP Premium for the 20% discount! I had Photopass People use it for the Family Fun Weekends event Disney’s Kickin’ Country Weekend. Got some cute pics of DD(15) in her cowgirl boots and hat (she really does ride western and sometimes uses her horse with cattle). It just so happens that I can go the next two weekends, so I thought the CD would work out great with the special events planned those weekends.

I bought one 2 weeks ago and I'm pretty sure I only got 10% (with Premium AP) I'm going to find my receipt and double check it to see. We too have taken pix at Kickin' Country as well as the Festival Disneyland. May go tomorrow for Fan Favorites. Funny thing I noticed though, even though I used the same PP card for Kickin' Country as I had for previous weekend, those pictures weren't there when I checked on Monday (3 days later). They finally showed up about Wed. (I was just going to send an email to PP asking about the missing photos.) I've noticed that the site has been slow lately on getting photos there. Once you upload a card any photos you take with that same card are supposed to show up the next time you log onto your account.

There are definitely a lack of PP just hanging around. :confused3 If DL wants to sell more PP CDs they need to have more non-character opportunities (IMHO);)

We just got home from DL and I bought the Gallery CD with the coupon for the PP. They had lots of them in the Kodak shop. We had to go looking for PP people, there were hardly any in DL. In CA they were at the entrance and by Grizzly Peak but that was all I saw.

Okay I want to make sure I am understanding this correctly.

I buy the Gallery Store CD at Disneyland for $59.95. This is give me all different kinds of photos aleady taken around the world. In this purchase they are including a coupon for a free PhotoPass CD. After we have taken all of our photopass pictures and return home with my photopass card I get on the website to purchase them. This is where I can use the coupon to get the photopass cd of our pictures for free.

So basically if I am going to buy the PhotoPass cd anyways I am getting the other pictures for free and might as well do it.

Correct! and the gallery pictures are beautiful, there are over 300 of them.

I totally agree! at wdw they were in all the kodak type picture spots and all up and down main street. maybe there are fewer because of the time of year?? althought we were at wdw on one of the slowest weeks of the year.

I think the idea of photopass is awesome but terribly under utilized by disney... the site is clunky, the borders available often illogical. Don't get me wrong, I like it, I just wish it was better.

I completely agree with this. They should have more photographers. When we were at DLR last week we saw several PP photogs taking pictures - but they were taking "special project" photos and not photos for the public. Evidently there is a new "Let the Memories Begin" kind of thing coming up that will feature the photos taken by these photogs. We visited with one of them and she said that she was taking candid photos of unsuspecting people to be used in a show. :confused3

You have 30 days from upload to add borders, edit, etc. I see that you can buy extensions to provide more time -- but with such a slow website, they should give you extra time for free!

If you see them photographing where you are (like a ride you've been on and they might have pix of you) you can either see if they'll scan your photopass card (worked for us going down main street). Or, next day (or later that day) you go to the kodak store on main street. Tell them the time and where, and they can pull up the pictures and put them on a photopass card for you. It's a great way to get candid shots.

A bit confused....

Can i or can't i use the DL photopass cd for photos taken at WDW??

We are going to DL in April and from DL we fly to WDW and we would like to buy the PP CD from DL ($59,95) then buying the WDW PP CD (pre-order $99,95).

Is it possible to but the DL PP CD and use the PP photos from DL and WDW???

You can get the photos from both parks on one PP CD order HOWEVER, since you are going to DLR first and then WDW you will be charged the WDW price. The price you pay is based on the last park you have pictures taken in. Even if you upload your WDW first and then your DLR ones it won't matter. You'll pay the WDW pricing. So in that case you should go ahead and prebuy the WDW one for $99.95 and you can put both DLR and WDW on it.

Not as good a deal as the $59.95 DLR price but better than paying $149.95 for WDW or, if your trip dates didn't work out, paying $59.95 and $99.95 (or $149.95)

If you buy the Gallery CD at DLR before you leave I don't know how that will work when buying your WDW (and DLR) one. I THINK it will only credit you $59.95 plus shipping ($2.95) but I'm not sure. I think it's worth a call to Disney Photopass to see.

One of the PP photogs I have befriended was also taking photos for the IASW show. That was a very limited thing. We tried to get there that day but didn't make it in time. We could have been in the show! :sad2:

They should have more photographers around, for sure. Not only at the MnG situations. I think the new Family Fun Weekend is a test to see how guest feel about waiting around to meet any, and all, characters. Now that Photopass and Entertainment have merged you can expect to see many changes to the way characters are showing up in the parks.

I too don't understand the logic of the borders on the site. I mean they still have 2 Princess and the Frog borders and 2-3 UP ones. They need more autograph options. I recently sent an email to them about the fact that right now only Chip is available as an autograph and Dale isn't. Chip and Dale together aren't available either. I got back a boilerplate response that basically they rotate their enhancements and Dale and/or Chip and Dale may show up again soon. I guess they don't realize that more people would buy the CD if you had more options at home. Or is it that they want more guest to purchase their photos in the park where the enhancement options are basically unlimited?;)

Is this deal still going? And how do I get it if my trip is over and I am ordering on line from home? I don't see anything about it on the photopass site when I look.

is it possible to have the enhancements done in the park and saved into your account for purchase of the cd later? I'm thinking no cuz if possible I probably would have read about it already.

You can only get the combo pack gallery/photopass CD in the park. If you're home it's not available for order online. You might be able to call the DL merchandise number and have it shipped to you.

Okay that makes it clear, now i understand how it works!!!
Then another question about this:
If i do DL first (1 week) then fly to WDW (2 weeks) and the DL again for only one day and use PP on all 3 visits then i would get the DL pricing ($59.95).
Am i right????

i have read the posts...still undecided if it is worth it. I know that we will be taking pics and buying for ride pics (splashmountain).

We usually buy at least 1 or 2 character pictures (pooh - dd favs char, eeyore - dd favs char, mickey with family) and we have bought the pics at the photo store on main street.

What I have read so far, this sounds really great. However, if I went with the CDs, could I also buy prints at the store on main street?

Yes, you could do both. BUT once you get the cd you can have them printed.. or print them yourself so it saves A LOT!

I think if you're buying the CD, then buying prints is kind of a waste of money since you can get your own prints for WAY cheaper at Costco or something once you get the CD.

So, if you want to know if it's worth it, look at what you'd like prints of. See how much you'd pay for prints at DL. See if the CD is cheaper or not (or close to the same cost). Then decide. You can also order prints online if you want, so you don't have to decide at the park.

Yes but it's only available for purchase in the parks. It's the same Gallery CD that they sell online for $39.95 (yes it's more in the parks but you get the $59.95 coupon).

Do you know anyone who can pick one up for you from Disneyland?

Yeah that would be nice, but no you can't. If you buy your CD in the parks you won't get any enhancements (only the magical overlays, of course). Since it's the same price online as in the parks, but you can only get the enchancements online, it only makes sense, to me, to buy it online.

I understand why you can't get the enhancements in the park but it would be nice if you could. Imagine how long the lines would be at the store with everyone adding all their own enhancements! Yikes!:scared1:

You got it! Yes it will work. :goodvibes Just make sure that you upload your pictures by 30 days from the date taken. Otherwise they disappear. So if you last trip to DLR is more than 30 days after your first trip, make sure you upload those pictures.

Oh, and don't worry if you see the price for the CD change after you enter your WDW ones. Once you enter your last DL ones, the price will revert to $59.95.
