Photo editing before and afters.

That's incredible! I've immediately gone to the Focus Magic website and ordered. I can see I'm going to be spending the entire weekend recovering photos from my 'trash' folder. Just as well, I can't bring myself to permanently delete. :teeth:

Yes, it is a great help and the only plug in I've ever been willing to spend money on.

A few warnings though - it will not save all pics. There are some that just distort and can't be fixed. Also, I usually use the "conventional camera" setting, not digital. Digital tends to cause more distortion. Then I put the proof box on something easy to judge, like a face if there is one. And then start at a low amount and keep raising until I see distortion, then go back down to the last value at which it looked normal.

As I said. there are some it doesn't work on, but some where I just can't believe how well it does. Have fun!

tried again

Wow!! There are some awesome edits on here!!

Here's the first "major edit" I ever attempted - from a Cape Cod trip in 2004. Haven't found the time to "save" any shots since then!

I'm pretty good with the cloning... It's trying to save under/over-exposed shots that I suck at. I can never get the colors to look right...

Did you shoot in RAW? That's awsome editing.

Sue from Boston
Thanks, no it was shot in jpeg, I should have metered off my son better and used a flash as fill flash but didn't have it with me. I fixed it PS CS2 using the shadow/highlight adjusment, then some levels adjusment and noise reduction.

Thanks, Just came back from Mexico and have a ton of photos with bright sun/dark shadow issues. I don't have PS CS2 but will try to see if I can follow your workflow.

really like the bubble and colored pencil/chalk(?) shots

is it online or someplace you have to go?

Sorry for the delay in response, jann. I lost this post for a while! :)
The class is online. It is 'sponsored' by our local university but you can enroll through ed2go.

Here is the link I used to see if a class was available near me. http://www.ed2go.com/partners2.html

I'm floored by some of these edits. I wish I knew what I was doing. I guess I should pick up some good software and get to learning!

Fascinating thread! I've only done basic editing before, but would like to learn how to do more advanced editing also when I can find the time and after I get used to the new camera I just bought.

In the meantime, I wondered if anyone would like to see if they could use their editing skills to take the mosquito off DDs face? I love the picture but it's bugging me, I want to scratch every time I look at it! :teeth: Thank you!

WOW! The editing is incredible. What program do you use? How do you do this? LOL
I have some dark pictures I'd love to lighten. How would I do that?
Thanks!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: OMG!!! That pic in your signature is priceless! :lmao:

Guess I should try to answer your question too. I don't think I've actually posted anything in this thread, but I use Photoshop Elements 4. You can lighten underexposed pictures with a levels adjustment. When you click on this tool, you'll see the histogram for the image, and most likely the graph will skew to the left with some blank space on the right. Basically, you just move the righthand slider to the left until it reaches the point where there is data measured on the graph. Try googling "levels adjustment" for a more coherent explanation. ;)
