I almost used this in this weeks contest, but decided not to for a certain reason.

please tell me what you think of this pic...

"Jasmine" looks to be exposed nicely, but that darn sky in the BG is blown out. (but you knew that). That would have been a great opportunity for a fill flash or reflector for the foreground and expose for the background. Of course, it's easy to say that now, sitting here........ That darn stuff is a challenge sometimes, and I don't know about you, but I don't carry a reflector with me to WDW. :rotfl2:

I like the composition! :thumbsup2

ITA with Kevin. I like the composition and her pose, but the sky and part of her costume is blown out. But it's not like you can drag Jasmine out when the light is perfect. :)

The only thing I would change really is to have gotten her feet in there. But then that is really easy for me to look at and say now! I have chopped off my fair share of feet, arms, and heads often enough when shooting people! (that makes me sound like a mass murderer).

funny that you should mention a reflector, I've never carried one to WDW, but I did buy one there for a dollar:thumbsup2

compliments of the people at property control who had no clue what it was...

I'm not sure exposing for the background would have kept the sky from blowing out , since the background was in the shade.

I actually did use fill flash, with Jasmine being in sun and shadow, then adding fill, to me it almost looks like she was photo shopped in,
that's why I decided not to use it....didn't want any controversy.

I had the same effect with a shot of my niece...

It looks photoshopped to me for some reason... around her head and shoulders

lol.... I was typing my response when you put in your last post, so that was my thoughts before you said it. And the one of your neice is even more so.

LOL..both shots are straight from the camera, i guess it's because, of the multiple light levels...

my niece is totally in the shade, so she's darker than the background, but the fill made her lighter than the shaded area.. I guess the brain decides this is not a normal lighting situation

I can see Jasmine's shadow, so she does not look photoshopped to me, but the one of your neice does.

good point..

I had noticed that, but when I asked 2 friends to help decide what pic I should enter in the contest, they thought JAsmine looked suprimposed as they put it..

Now that you mention the fill flash, I can see it on her face. The look of being Photoshopped doesn't strike me with Jasmine as strong as the shot of your niece! With the Jasmine shot, the sun was on her legs and a bit on her hair so it does look more natural to me.

Funny, how some shots just look odd to the eye after you take them.....

The other thing that makes it look like that to me, is the photo's look flat, like a picture of a person standing in front of a picture .... Know what I mean?

The only thing that bothers me about that picture is that the feet are cut off (I always do that, too! )

It's a little bright, but that doesn't really take away from the subject, in my opinion.

that annoys me too, I know it's not a good excuse, but I had already taken several photos of JAsmine and Aladdin, then asked Aladdin if he'd mind stepping out of the shot...LOL so I was rushing so as to not hold up the line...

wow, after years of being told I like my work too dark, that's a first being told it's too light...
