Photo CDs

So is the price of the CD $400 on the MAgic but $300 on the Wonder?

I think the price difference would be because the length of the cruise is different.

I would not be able to shell out the money for the CD-we don't spend alot of time getting the pics taken and usually only end up buying one or two pics that I just can't resist.;)

Wow! This is exciting. Even if it's crazy expensive, at least it's a step in the right direction!

wow $400 and no boarders???? i'd sooner ask the photographers to just take a picture with my camera.

i was all willing to pay $150 on our 4 night if it came with boarders but it wasn't offered then.

i only spent $180 on the pictures with boarders on our first cruise. no way i'm more then doubling that for photos without boarders.

they should do what they do at wdw and give you a card the photographers scan then when you get home you add the boarders and they mail it to you. simple.

I said $400 is crazy expensive.:)

I'm not a fan of the borders so I don't mind either way on that one, but I still think it's a step in the right direction.

oh.... no, i meant to quote the post that talked about the boarders. oops

I would only pay it if it included enhancements. I want the tink pic of my girls and the borders.

Honestly we spend alot on pics during the cruise. And this for me is even really crazy priced. I think they need to bring it more into the $200 range. I really don't love the boarders....but I know alot of others do....should honestly be included. In my opinion they really need to rethink this one.

Do you have to commit to the CD at the beginning of the cruise or can you wait until the middle/end?

You can buy it whenever.

I would think though that you would need to mentally commit early on. Because they are basing the pricing on the length of cruise and the number of photo "opportunities", I would feel the need to maximize my appearance at all / nearly all the photo ops.

Realistically, if you tried to get all the photo ops on your CD, you would spend so much of your cruise time running hither and yon on a schedule. I know some are highly scheduled on the cruise. It is just to much *work* for me.

For us we do so many of the photo ops this would just be a great chance to not have to worry about finding all of our pics in Shutters. I don't care for the borders...but do want one of DD with Tink since that started after our last cruise...and from what I can see I can get that picture at half price if I buy the CD.

Yep, they let us. We just made sure that all of the pictures were tied to my parents room. You only get one CD but you can put it on everyones computer and make copies. You own the rights to the CD once you buy it. They even had some photog's doing photo's with out a dis theme at all so it was awesome to get formal portraits of the family.

That is great information for us. We have 4 linked cabins for our family, SIL and friends who are cruising with us. I just hioe they don't change this part of the policy before our August cruise!!

And I would think that if I did do a lot of the photo ops like you, I would highly consider purchasing the CD because if I took the effort to go stand in those lines it would be because I wanted the picture(s) and would likely spend a lot more $ on photos if purchased a la carte.

As it stands, one of my sons is a little character phobic. Our embarkation photo was the only decent one of us all together. So guess which photo made it onto the holiday cards I got from Shutters.

As an aside, it feels so nice to have the holiday cards "done" in July...

Hi!

I've never seen that before! $400? Yikes! I'm not sure about that. I think you can easily scan your photos that you buy, print the copyright release online and make your own prints from the scanned pics. It might be cheaper that way. I guess it depends on if you have a scanner and want to spend the time. The CD may also have higher quality jpgs though. :)

Do you happen to have the link to the copyright release?

Aw. :( Sometimes I wish my kids were character phobic. ;) They want to see them all...even the big ones like the Queen of Hearts and Hook now that they aren't afraid of them anymore.

I'd rather look for last year's $1000 top end digital camera for $400 (have done it..usually about every 4 years I upgrade) and take my own pictures...I typically only frame about one picture and the rest I put into digital scrapbooking pages..so I don't care about borders and all that and with my adobe photoshop I can add Tink or whoever to my scrapbooks..I agree with the poster that $400 is crazy for this service. I just hope about 3 or 4 times I can ask a fellow passenger to get the five of us! :)

Just curious, do they have a limit of how many photo's are on a cd?
Also, if you buy a cd can you change to a lesser pkg if you change your mind, like you can on the other pkgs.

Honestly I am SUPER DUPER EXCITED!! :cool1:

We spent $500 on our 4 night cruise last November, so this is going to be AWESOME!! Only thing I see wrong with it is that you cannot have the borders, I like those, but it will NOT divert me from buying the CD!!

YEAH! I just saved $100 bucks off of last trip and we are gone for 3 more nights...I know my DH will be thankful.

We could get the CD in the 3 nt wonder trip for: $299.95

It was for all my friends and ours (2 staterooms)... we scanned different KTTW cards (since were around doing different things) but somehow all made it together... the system is pretty good. Even when the KTTW card wasn't scanned we got the pictures associated to our account.

I hate the borders, so it would be perfect, but in a 3 day cruise there is not enough pics to make it worthwhile (my opinion) it would come up to $5-$10 per picture for us....

As far as Facial recognition software, it's pretty good, but you do have a key in the kiosk to tell them that a particular picture is not yours.... we got a bunch from a girl that could possibly be of the same profile of my DD and we marked a couple saying she wasn't part of our travel party and the photos dissapeard the next time we checked....

If you are going the CD route make sure you tell them the first day and check your pics every night.... If it was a 7 nights for 2 cabins $400, I'd had gone for it... we always spend $170 (two cabins 84.50 each) and have to leave pics behind that otherwise we'd have gotten if it wasn't that expensive.....
