Photo CD Keeps Freezing

This is a really random question, but our DVD-R of our engagement pictures keeps freezing that we got from our photographer. I wanted to copy our engagement pictures to my computer for our thank you cards I'll be making. There are 823 pictures on the disc (1.5 GB) but the disc holds over 4GB. I can't view any pictures after about 115 into the folder without windows explorer or a photo gallery program freezing. I have a brand new laptop and it has the fastest processor in our house and my work. A mac desktop wouldn't even read it. I've never attempted to view the whole disc before now because clicking on the beginning pictures always worked (we got it the end of Feb I believe).

I just wanted to see if this has happened to anyone before asking our photographer for another copy (if they'd do that).

Has this happened to anyone? If so, how did you fix it? Any ideas or suggestions?

Let your photographer know right away! I always save my clients pictures and back them up on hard drives, but many other photographers delete them. So let them know that there is an issue before anything could happen to your pictures. There are a lot of pictures on that disk for such a small space, and it may have just had an error when it was burned. It's happened to me before. If you are getting high resolution images, they should put them on a DVD for you. It holds more information, so the pics aren't squeezed - then they lose quality.
