It's definitely an interesting place! I imagine he knew it was a gamble to spend all those years building the place without getting the proper permits or following the local codes. It's a shame that his work may have been wasted, but that was the risk he took when he chose to build without permits. It would have been much smarter for him to wait until after he had the necessary permits before he started building on the property.

I think in his mind it is more a work of art than a dwelling. Even though he does live there. I don't think he should do any jail time.

I think he should got the proper permits before he started. It drives me crazy when people think the rules don't apply to them.
