Phone or Online

I have a few weeks before my 180 day but I was wondering if it is better to call or make ADR online. I really want to get in at some of the harder to get locations and I don't want to mess it up. Just wondering what some others have experienced. Thanks in advance!

I say call, but also go online while on hold and see if you can get them before they answer, either way you get the reservations and if you get them before they answer, you can just hang up.

Online 6 AM Eastern time
Phone 7AM Eastern time

I would start with online because it opens up an hour before the phones so you have an hour headstart. Book whatever you can and then if there are any you can't get, you can call at 7:00.

If you're worried about messing up online you can practice by making some trial reservations ahead of time.

One advantage to making them by phone is that if you need to enter your credit card for multiple reservations, the phone CM will only ask for it once. Online you have to enter it for each restaurant that needs it. If you're doing a few ADRs, no problem, but can be a pain if doing several reservations at one time.

I'm in the process of booking ADR's for our late March holiday. Just be aware that the 'hard to get' ADR's may not even be on the system at 180 days.

After much gnashing of teeth and a call the WDW, we have all we can get at the moment and are just awaiting the others to be uploaded. Its a little annoying not having all the restaurants available at the same time, but not as bad as them being fully booked at 179 days!

Best of luck with your ADR's.

I'm planning to start with online, since it opens up an hour earlier (4am my time, yikes!) If, after an hour, I'm not finished and really tired of fighting with the computer then I may call for the rest.

And like a PP said, be prepared that some times not everything is accepting ADRs yet at 180 days. Had that problem a few years ago with CRT, it was almost a month before they opened it up for ressies for some reason! And if that's the case, calling doesn't help either. In fact the CMs don't usually know whether the ADRs are simply gone, or if it just isn't accepting any yet, all they can tell is that nothing shows up as available.

I actually prefer to do stuff online, b/c I am such a visual person. I like to see all the info right in front of me and know that it's right. Otherwise I start worrying that the Cm accidentally punched in the wrong date or something.

DO Cm's see same reservation screen...the reason I ask is I cannot get an ADR for something I want because we have a party of 3, but I could get it if we were a party of 4. Weird. I could see if it was party of 5 or higher. Do they have the ability to book that over the phone...That's why I'm asking.

I so wish they would change this! If you have an account they should give you the option to save your credit card information so you don't have to enter it every time.

I was told that they see the same reservation times that you see online but they can see a span of time as opposed to one day and one block of time. When you go online you can pick a day and time or block of time (lunch, dinner, etc) and it will show you availability. I was told that the call center can see open reservations at a restaurant over a 3-4 day timeframe at once.
