Hey all,

I am leaving for DLR in 2 weeks, so excited, but I need a phone while I am away. We are only away for a month, but I need a prepaid with cheap international text and calls to Australia. Alt, if there is a phone card you can use to dial a US number that then connects you to international numbers?

Any help would be fantastic,

Yes you can get international phone cards at most retailers including conviniece stores and grocery stores. But will they work with a prepaid cellphone, I don't think so. you can find prepaid cell phones in big retail stores, Walmart, Target and even some small stores.... But for international calls I don't think so for less that an arm and a leg. However I did have a friend here for summer and he got a phone like this and it cost him 50cents per text to Europe. But he used skype now and then to make regular calls.

Not sure but I think you can use PC to make international calls. You will need to bring a PC, head phones and a Mic.

If have access to a PC Google just rolled out calling from pc to phone.

No, they don't work with cell phones.

I got a prepaid phone at Target, uploaded $ 25 and still had $ 7 left after a two weeks vacation, lots of US texting and 4 about 3 minute calls to home. That was to Germany with AT&T Go.

Hi, we went to one of the large shopping centres near Anaheim and bought a cheap prepaid from Best Buys. Not sure about international calls though, we got two phones so we could contact each other when we split up.

Come join us on the Aussie board, there are bound to be plenty of people that know about cheap calls back to Oz.
