Phone cards - do they need to be international?

Quick question for those of you that give phone cards as extra thank you gifts to kid's club counselor's, etc.

Do you give the phone cards that have international or just national minutes? Or does it matter? How many minutes do you usually give?

I want to do this but don't want to spend too much on these but also don't want to be "cheap" about it. Can anyone help? Sailing in only 6 days on the Magic!

Have the minutes in big print for national and on the back in fine print the international equivalent so they are good for both. Be prepared though the minutes get GREATLY reduced for international. But I figure even a quick five min. call back home would be better than no call for some CMs!
