Phone call from the District Attorney's office?

If you read my post last night about me hating my DD's job, then you know that she was injured on the job during a restraint..

Someone from the District Attorney's office just called here - a representative of the Crime Victim's Board.. Any idea what that's all about? I know the resident that bit her was going to be arraigned this morning.. Do you think it's about testifying against this girl or what?

I would think it would be too soon for the DA's office to start gathering witnesses. But then again, I'm not an attorney, but I do watch way too much Law and Order.

Maybe they need to know if my DD is willing to press charges? I gave them her work number, so I guess I'll just have to wait till she gets home to find out what gives..

Some DA'a offices provide victim support. The person who called may be a victim advocate calling to offer emotional support, expalin the process, and/or offering to accompany your daughter to any of the proceedings.

That was my first thought, too. I am assuming that the Emergency Room had to file a report with the police that your DD had been assaulted. If the resident already has a history/prior charges, I am guessing that the DA wants to file additional charges against her [the resident].

I'm a Victims' Assistance Coordinator for a juvenile probation department. Let me see if I can help...
Whenever I am referred a case, I am required to contact the victim in order to notify them of their rights and find out if they'd like to be notified of court proceedings. I imagine this call is for those reasons.
Most of the time, the victims in the cases don't want to bother with it. We are required to give them that option, though.
