Phoenix Airport Rental (Sky Harbor)

Looking ahead for a rental in November for one week. Finding prices quite a bit higher than I am used to at MCO. Going to start looking for codes etc., but was wondering if anyone ha scored decent pricing there recently and what codes or company you booked with.

I found the rates to be VERY high at PHX. Here is what I did. I stayed at a Marriott just north of the airport the first night that had a free shuttle. I then walked to an Avis location at a Sears Auto Center to pick up my car. I got a week mid-size SUV for around $150 and didn't have to pay all of the airport fees. I saved about $100. When I returned the car, the attendant actually gave me a ride to the airport in the car I had rented (even though he wasn't supposed to).

I suggest this too...rent offsite. You can do a rental to return to the airport also and avoid the airport fees. I did this on our last trip to PHX a couple years ago. Find an offiste location and go from there.....

PHX is expensive. I paid $100 a few years ago for a week at MCO. I was shocked at PHX rates compared to MCO....but if you try offsite it will be better!

Check with Fox Car rental. DH and I used them for the first time last month and had a great experience. Their price was half of any other car rental agency. They are onsite, but you do take a common rental car shuttle to the large parking garage where all the car rental agencies are located.
