PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

Started at Remington park...up to NE 50th ran it to Lincoln then ran Lincoln towards Capitol and back again pretty shocking the hills...I wish I would had taken more pictures on the course! Who knew there were hills in OKC!!!! Do you live in OK now? I
Huh. Interesting! I knew there were a few hills out in the country, further east, but I sure didn't know there were that many in the City. I don't live there now, but it is home.

Great race report Tammie! Too bad Debra missed out on the fun. Congrats Amy on your 1st 10K!

I ran a chilly 4 miles today. My mom was off work so she kept Tebow for me so he didn't have to brave the wind, cold and drizzly rain. :)

I'm supposed to do a color run with my oldest son's girlfriend this Saturday and the low Friday night is 28. :scared1:

Cupcake Friday
As if just being Friday is not sweet enough

Macaroon Cupcake
AoA: Landscapes of Flavor

Well Epcot was a bust when it came to cupcake offerings. So let’s go back and celebrate Cammy and myself adding one more Disney night to our reservation and look at the cupcake offerings at AoA.

The Macaroon Cupcake gets its name from the cookies that top the creamy vanilla icing in a hidden Mickey fashion. The cookies have a classic “macaron-y” almond taste, but the texture is slightly off because the cookies are sitting on a big pile of icing, they can get damp. Many people report when they try to pull off the cookies, just a shell-like layer came away leaving part of the cookie on the icing. The frosting is edged with colored candy pearls that look somewhat like nerd candies. They have a light candy coating with a crispy interior. A little fun touch.

Now there is nothing special hidden inside of this cupcake. The cupcake is just a regular yellow cake, which from all reports is quite moist and dense, more like a pound cake and really tasty.

My Thoughts

Well I do plan to have a cupcake while at AoA, so this just might be the one…of course we have to explore the other offerings first before making a decision.

Your Thoughts?

I just have to add that in 15 Fridays...I will be along side 4 of my reformed OCD Cupcakes as we laugh our way through the Royal Family 5K and then have that special dinner we planned so many years ago! Can't wait Betsy, Heather, Amy & Debra!!!

LOL...I would have never imagined either! But trust me it was torture!

Thanks...I missed having Debra along too...but we have Hot Chocolate coming up...even though someone does not like chocolate...:rotfl2:

YAY for mom watching Tebow! I have to admit that not much training has taken place this week. I keep trying to get to the pool with Ab but it seems like the boys have things on the nights she has practice. Tomorrow looks a little warmer so maybe I will get at least my long run in for the week. I have walked 1 afternoon and gotten on the elliptical 1 night...grrr! Hopefully this silly early artic cold front will end soon...

Looks interesting Tammie! The oreo cupcake I had at Pop was the same, the oreo got soft from sitting on the icing...but it was REALLY GOOD that way! Kind of like dipping your oreo in milk, but you don't have to dip it. :goodvibes

Tweedle and I are going to be "sleeping in" (this is in quotes b/c my idea of sleeping in is 6am) to sleep off our hangovers on the 5K Friday morning, but we'll be cheering for your ladies in our dreams...or our race nightmares as it may be! ;)

I want one of these - looks interesting.

Wish I was able to do the 5k...will be on the plane - that makes me happy just thinking about it:)

Well Maybe trip related update...my debit card got a lot of work out today. First, dh asked what the kids should get me for Christmas (I was laying in wait with that one) and usually I shrug it off and say "I don't need anything" but this year I had my list ready...and he said YES...so these little pretties are headed my way (only 1 more left on my wish list)

PLUS A CUSTOM SKIRT THAT WILL NOT BE REVEALED UNTIL THE ROYAL FAMILY 5K...which means I need to get the shirt design finished and off to the designer for our group "costume."

Then registration goes up in a month and I found a coupon for the Hot Chocolate 15K in Dallas, 2 weeks before PHM...

So Ab and I are signed up...I believe Cammy, Debra and Amy are coming along for this one!

And finally, we made our decision and thanks to a little flight savings and some Disney Math (and this time not of the funny fudging kind) comparing hotel room/taxi in Dallas cost vs flying in late Tuesday night instead of spending the night in Dallas...we officially have a 1 night stay booked/paid for in a Little Mermaid room at AoA.

A very $$$$ Saturday morning...but it was all things I had been thinking and planning for!

Touche...as we sleep in while you run the 10K! LOL...I thought about signing up as a volunteer...but you know MK is open until 2 am on Thursday night...and I have to get up early on Friday morning...so maybe I need to sleep a little on Saturday since Sunday is another early call...

We will miss you...but I know you will be catching up with us in the fun! Doing the 5K just so we can be with Heather in a run, since her doctor sidelined her from PHM!

I had a chocolate Mickey tart when we were at AoA last year. It was so good! I'll see if I can find a pic. :)

I had no idea MK was open until 2am on Thursday?!?!? WHY?? Last year they kept it open on Sunday night after the half, THAT was awesome, but Thursday? Before the 5K? :confused3 Tweedle & I only have 3 day hoppers, so we aren't doing a park on Thursday, bummer!

It'll be ok- it will force us not to overextend ourselves even more than we are and TRY to get some sleep Thursday night since we probably won't have much Friday night & Saturday night. :thumbsup2

Times are from touring plans...we were not planning on a park day either on Thursday!

Cupcake Friday
Special Edition (cause its only Tuesday)

Mickey Oreo Cupcake
Art of Animation: Landscape of Flavor

Why a special edition of Cupcake Friday on Tuesday? Well because it is the mouse’s birthday and no birthday celebration is complete without a little cake! Happy Birthday Mickey! Now let’s blow out the candles and talk about this cupcake!

What you have is basically a standard cupcake, yellow cake with white buttercream icing. Yes, it is pretty boring because there is nothing on the inside but the cake is well executed…moist cake and the buttercream is nice and light…not the make your teeth hurt heavy sweet frosting but it ain’t no whip cream topping either. So what make this cupcake worthy of Mickey’s big day… plop in 2 Oreos for mouse ears into the mound of frosting (did I mention I love Oreos?) and a little white chocolate Mickey face.

My Thoughts?
I might just have to try this one as my first cupcake in WDW on Wednesday morning! I can’t think of a better way to say HELLO, I am HOME. Just give me a big glass of cold milk and I am good with breakfast!

Your Thoughts?

What the heck, I've just begun to say yes to all of them because I know I won't be able to eat all of the ones I want to try! :p

Coconut yay! Oreo- meh. I am jelly over your early arrival btw. How can I cram so much in 4 days??

This cupcake is super cute! I would want a big cup of coffee to go with it though.

Tebow is probably going to have a Mickey Mouse birthday party this year. ;)
