PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

I probably should not get excited, because it seems like every time I do over a successful run, my body likes to slam me back down. But this morning I had the best run PAIN FREE that I have had in a very very very long time! I did a 5K (no official race) at just about 39 minutes! I know that does not seem very fast to a lot of people...but the fact that I was able to complete it and get a decent time is what I am celebrating!

So glad summer is finally here and I can do my running in the morning when it is cool outside. I tried this last week to walk at night at least and the upper 90 temps kicked my hiney!

Great job Tammie! I have to try & get outside early too, otherwise my runs end up on the "dreadmill" :scared:

Keep up the great work & :wizard: no more injuries!!

Thanks girls...I am really just about over the whole thing...every time I find myself thinking out it...I start singing LET IT GO in my mind and imagining Elsa's face when she slams the door...the best scene in all of movie history when you are ready to tell people where to go!

This image and song got me through some mean princess times last fall and when ever I find myself in a situation I need to let go...it really works![/SIZE]

I think in this situation, this is a good way to think about it.

Cupcake Friday
(As if just being Friday isn’t sweet enough)

Mickey & Minnie Mousse Cupcake
Polynesian Resort-Captain Cook's

We are still making our way through the display case at Captain Cook’s in the Polynesian Resort, who knew this place was a treasure trove of cupcake delights!?

Today’s cupcake is an ode to the Mouse himself and his cute girlfriend…the Mickey & Minnie Mousse Cupcake. The cupcake itself is a basic chocolate cupcake (and apparently from all the reviews pretty dry), but what makes this cupcake is not only the cute decorations….

“Mickey Ears” made from Oreo cookies with either a pink fondant cute bow for Minnie or red sprinkles around the base for Mickey. Who doesn’t love Mickey shaped foods and this Disney Queen is always on the lookout for hidden Mickey’s…but it’s not the decorations that make this cupcake, it’s the icing and really it’s not icing at all…instead it it’s a chocolate mousse with a light layer of chocolate ganache topping the mousse.

Here are the reviews…

“I wish I could say the cake itself was as tasty as the icing...but to be honest, it was a little dry. I might have gotten it on a bad day though - and the icing and the Oreos on top made up for the mediocre cake.”

“The bottom is a very light chocolate cake. In fact, I couldn’t decide if there was a bit of mocha flavoring. The cake was good, but a little dry. However, when the cake was paired with the mousse frosting, my mouth sung! The mousse was not dense in any way, or overly rich. It almost had a cool whip consistency and flavoring — definitely chocolaty but not too sweet.”

“The cake and mousse paired together was extremely enjoyable. Plus, this cupcake is too cute for words! Who doesn’t love the extra treat of the Oreo Ears? The bow was fondant, so I didn’t eat it. This cupcake definitely needs to be on your must-try list!!”

My thoughts…

The Minnie Mousse (sorry Mickey this is a girl’s trip) is on my list, after all I am a girl who loves her chocolate.

Your thoughts?

Oh YUM! This sounds pretty good! I see people complain about "dryness" sometimes and never think cupcakes are dry, maybe just dense (which I like) so I think I would really love this with the mousse and ganache!

I know there isn't an absolute answer but what pace should I shoot for in a 10k to get a F,G, or H coral placement?

I had a 13mm and got placed in J coral, but I submitted it on the absolute last day you could submit. I think if I'd had it to submit sooner, I could have gotten a little further up (your time matters, but when you give them your time also matters. If I'd submitted the 13mm sooner, I *may* have been 1-2 corals ahead).

Imbri, I couldn't find this original question, so I'm just quoting you...

I submitted 1:08 when I registered for a 10K time and then sent in a new time of 1:04(10:30mm) in the fall when I did another and I was in corral F. :) I was NOT doing the GSC, if you are doing the GSC, it looks like they put you back a corral or two...I think they assumed GSC runners would be going a bit slower since they were doing two races??

Gotta say this thread is great. Thanks so much for the info. The trip reports are awesome and the cupcakes well....... yummy. I am really looking forward to PHM and wish it was tomorrow except for the fact that I would only get about 4 miles before I fell over!
princess:

It is such a beautiful day here! I ran 5.5 miles to just keep around my next 10k distance in 2 weeks. 54:41...not bad!
And is anyone doing the GSC? I am really considering it.

As for cupcakes....right now, they ALL look delicious! :)

What a great weekend to run! Had the Zooma this weekend in Annapolis. Beautiful weather -

My friend Kate - who will be one of the cupcakes - did her first 10k for this race. It started at the US Naval Academy Stadium -

There were a couple hills which slowed us down - bursitis anyone? But here's the bling - the half medal is way cuter but wasn't happening this weekend

Happy runners! The after party had a nice snack box and a wine area with Barefoot Wines - of course I had water first:).

Good swag at this race too - tech shirt, hat, features socks - nice!

Next day, had a fun run at the PTA picnic with my sons - my 9 year old clocked at 7:20 mile! And my 6 year old came in with me at 10:30 - he ran his tiny legs off- such a fun positive day - plus while smoked pig afterward (no cupcakes but I was way happy)

I'll close with this sticker which I thought was funny and one more to show I miss WDW so much I keep mementos in my wallet - does anyone else do this?

princess:

PHM is so much fun. Cant wait to go back next year, although I think 2015 PHM weekend will be my last for a while, I need to give other Disney races a try (unless I can find a magic money tree ;))

Nice job on your run! I think quite a few of us are planning on GSC :)

Sounds like a fun race & fun weekend!

I did GSC last year and I want to do it if I go again in 2015.
I have a dilemma though, I just got the kids new school schedule for the upcoming year. They only have Monday and Tuesday off at the beginning of PHM week. I don't know if we can swing coming down since they don't have the full week off like we did this year.
I'm kinda bummed.

Tammie~ I know I am a little late in saying this, but that totally stinks about the job. I feel there should be an ethics board review for those types of hires. There could be something there in that they hired a less qualified man over a perfectly qualified woman. It is so obvious! Hugs, but hopefully this means that something even better is in the works for you. And yea for the fishing trip!

Great runs ladies! I have the Lake Placid half marathon this weekend with my sister. I ran 13.14 this past weekend with my friend so I am not worried. I am not sure if I am going to push and try to PR this race. I have to talk to my sister. She is worried she is not ready so we have to have a plan as to if we are going to stick together as long as possible or the whole time.

I am so excited for the GSC! I have it on my calendar that I can register in a little over a month (DVC and Annual pass perk). But I have some really exciting news....... :drumroll:

I entered a contest through ESPN every day for 6+ weeks and I won!!!! Seriously! I am now a believer that people win these things! Here is what I won:
Four (4) round trip coach airfares between the major gateway airport closest to traveler's residence and the Orlando International Airport.

·Four (4) round trip ground transfers between the Orlando International Airport and the Walt Disney World® Resort via Disney’s Magical Express Service.

·Room accommodations consisting of one (1) standard room(s) (with a maximum of four (4) persons per room) for three (3) night(s) at a hotel at the Walt Disney World® Resort selected by Disney in its sole discretion; based on availability.

·One (1) night stay at the Cinderella Castle Suite in the Magic Kingdom¨ Park at Walt Disney World¨ Resort with select food and beverage snacks, breakfast at Cinderella Royal Table.

·Four (4) 5-Day Magic Your Way Tickets with Park Hopper® Option.

·One (1) Disney Gift Card with a value of $1,000.00.

·VIP viewing for one (1) Disney Theme Park parade or show for four (4) persons. Parade and/or show selection and date of experience is at the discretion of Disney. Based on availability. Restrictions apply.

·One (1) Disney's Magical Celebration In-Room decor in your Walt Disney World® Resort hotel room [winner room only].

·One (1) Welcome Basket in your Walt Disney World¨ Resort hotel room [winner only].

·One (1) Tour of the ESPN Sport Complex for four (4) guests based on availability.

·One (1) Guided Fishing Excursion for four (4) guests based on availability.

·One (1) Parasailing Experience for four (4) guests based on availability.

I entered because of the Cinderella castle suite. My daughter is over the moon! As if my husband. We are a family of 3 so we talked it over and are taking 1 of my sisters who is also my daughter's godmother (I have 3 sisters and my husband has a brother and sister). The resort we get to stay at it either Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and other higher end ones. I am just in shock! We found out a month ago, but I had to have a background check (can't have a criminal win) and then I was waiting to hear form Disney that we were indeed the winners. We already have a few trips this year planned and booked so we are going to go in June 2015 when DD gets out of school. We are flipping out!

So that's what's happening with me :)

OMG I am so jealous! Please post pics of the Cinderella suit. I would love to see it!
