PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

WEDNESDAY WONDERINGS... Snack of choice...Rice Krispe Mickey, Mickey Bar, Dole Whip, Dole Whip Float???? http://media.photobucket.com/user/C...tern With the Kids/CruisePics/pics27.jpg.html http://media.photobucket.com/user/babygirlviks/media/FloridaFood/IMG_1947.jpg.html http://media.photobucket.com/user/ajleone/media/P2250018.jpg.html As for me I want all of the above. I love having a Mickey Bar for breakfast! I can't say that I have just had a Dole Whip...always go for a float (and as many as I can have). Love taking back Rice Krispe treats and hiding them in the freezer for a pick me up on a day when Disney seems so far away!

Dole Whip Float all the way!

WEDNESDAY WONDERINGS...

I like plain rice krispie treats the best, but dole whips are a close second.

Okay now I am BITTER! Been racking my brain trying to figure out how this person got the job...on the interview committee was a sibling who happens to be a principal in the district! I did not know their was a relationship until it was just pointed out to me. REALLY!?!?

Well that's crap!!! I would totally be all over that with as an ethics violation. But then again, I see it here all the time. It's a political game.

Time to step back, do your job and only your job and do not under any circumstance offer assistance to the new hire. Any time you waiver about helping, remember that committee member threw you under the bus for their own personal gain, not for the good of the school and students.

I totally agree. I might even post an "anonymous" complaint about that to the school board. That is complete cronyism and should not be allowed to occur.

I would not offer this new person one bit of help. If they can't do their job then they shouldn't have taken it. Total BS.

That is unethical but I guess don't really have a good method for a truly anonymous ethical hotline do you?

Why hello there beautiful!! I am all over the Dole Whip/Dole Whip floats!!

But...I do also like a warm pretzel too. The jalapeno pretzels from AK or a pretzel from Germany with a beer...yummy!

Ugh, that is SOOOO not right! :sad2:

Tammie - so sorry about the job! How incredibly disappointing to find out about the other applicant's family member.

As far as the snack, It's a Mickey bar all the way for me! I will admit this here, I've never had a Dole whip!

Things have been crazy busy around here and they're about to pick up more. DS7 made All Stars for baseball! He is so proud of himself and excited to get to play out of town games. Lol.

Big congratulations to the new grad! My DS graduates in two years (if God is willing) and I'm already a mess!

A few years ago I was a mess too! Then as graduation got closer I was more and more ready for it. My DSS didn't love school and it was a constant fight for everything to get done. Don't watch Toy Story 3! It was heart wrenching to see Andy going to college!

That stinks. So sorry, Tammie.

Oh Tammie- that's horrible. I would be so bitter too!

ALso have a similar situation in my department. One of the senior managers of group had his wife hired in. She is coniving and full of drama and throws poeple under the bus like no tomorrow (thankfully I have not dealt with her but others have) and when they complain they are told it's their fault, deal with it, suck it up... why? Oh right, because HER HUSBAND IS A SENIOR MANAGER in the same group.

How he got her in I will never know. It's directly in our rules forbidding it. But it's my guess, no one cares. Including HR. I have to think it would be the same in your position. SOMEONE allowed it to happen- so what is the use of complaining? It will only harm you in the long run. That's the hard pill to swallow!

Ugg. Ugg. Ugg! I'm so sorry. That stinks so much!

Cupcake Friday
(As if just being Friday isn’t sweet enough)

Mickey & Minnie Mousse Cupcake
Polynesian Resort-Captain Cook's

We are still making our way through the display case at Captain Cook’s in the Polynesian Resort, who knew this place was a treasure trove of cupcake delights!?

Today’s cupcake is an ode to the Mouse himself and his cute girlfriend…the Mickey & Minnie Mousse Cupcake. The cupcake itself is a basic chocolate cupcake (and apparently from all the reviews pretty dry), but what makes this cupcake is not only the cute decorations….

“Mickey Ears” made from Oreo cookies with either a pink fondant cute bow for Minnie or red sprinkles around the base for Mickey. Who doesn’t love Mickey shaped foods and this Disney Queen is always on the lookout for hidden Mickey’s…but it’s not the decorations that make this cupcake, it’s the icing and really it’s not icing at all…instead it it’s a chocolate mousse with a light layer of chocolate ganache topping the mousse.

Here are the reviews…

“I wish I could say the cake itself was as tasty as the icing...but to be honest, it was a little dry. I might have gotten it on a bad day though - and the icing and the Oreos on top made up for the mediocre cake.”

“The bottom is a very light chocolate cake. In fact, I couldn’t decide if there was a bit of mocha flavoring. The cake was good, but a little dry. However, when the cake was paired with the mousse frosting, my mouth sung! The mousse was not dense in any way, or overly rich. It almost had a cool whip consistency and flavoring — definitely chocolaty but not too sweet.”

“The cake and mousse paired together was extremely enjoyable. Plus, this cupcake is too cute for words! Who doesn’t love the extra treat of the Oreo Ears? The bow was fondant, so I didn’t eat it. This cupcake definitely needs to be on your must-try list!!”

My thoughts…

The Minnie Mousse (sorry Mickey this is a girl’s trip) is on my list, after all I am a girl who loves her chocolate.

Your thoughts?

Thanks cupcakes for all the virtual hugs and posts of support. The story gets even worst, almost to the point of totally absurd. This person who got the job has only been in the education field for 5 years (this being year 5)...they come from the construction trade and got an alternative teaching certificate when the housing market hit a snag a few years ago...their first year teaching was a tutoring job, year 2 was what they call a discipline classroom teacher (ISS), year 3 was a classroom reduction teacher who would travel from room to room much like a aid to assist teachers, year 4 had own classroom and only taught a different subject area (not what this job was for) and year 5 (this year) was moved to mid management (campus curriculum leader)...next year they get to be in charge of 50 elementary schools curriculum for this subject area...with NO KNOWLEDGE and NO REAL CLASSROOM EXPERIENCE.

I just want so scream...but I am really getting to be okay with the whole thing! If they want to play that game, fine...but what is like a slap in the face was when they told me that I did not get the job that they went with this person and what a hard decision it was because everyone was MORE than qualified....wow that tells me how valueable my knowledge/experience is and what a waste of money and time they have invested in me. Well since he and I have the same knowledge and experience, they don't need me on the district level! DONE with that. I don't need to work year round and late into the evening any way...and give everything!

I am really okay with all of it now...bitter, hurt, frustrated but I am in a better place then last week and realize this job really was not what I need in my life at the moment. You can bet when this person falls on his face, I wont be there and I certainly wont be applying again!

OMG totally cronyism. No way was he given the job based on merit. When all the teachers walk out due to his ineptitude you can have a private little giggle (and a cupcake)

Tammie - it sounds like a total setup - "work a couple of these kind of jobs and when so and so retires, we'll get you their job"

I like your healthy approach to all this-- enjoy your family and your life - work to the contract...

Minnie chocolate cupcake.

Not being much of a chocolate person (other than brownies), I would have to pass on these cupcakes. However, if someone doesn't want their Oreo ears...I will take those!

Wow Tammie! That is unbelievable! Again, I'm so sorry that you did not get the job and this person did.

That said, I would eat either of these cupcakes! I love chocolate in almost any form. :)

I probably should not get excited, because it seems like every time I do over a successful run, my body likes to slam me back down. But this morning I had the best run PAIN FREE that I have had in a very very very long time! I did a 5K (no official race) at just about 39 minutes! I know that does not seem very fast to a lot of people...but the fact that I was able to complete it and get a decent time is what I am celebrating!

So glad summer is finally here and I can do my running in the morning when it is cool outside. I tried this last week to walk at night at least and the upper 90 temps kicked my hiney!

Thanks girls...I am really just about over the whole thing...every time I find myself thinking out it...I start singing LET IT GO in my mind and imagining Elsa's face when she slams the door...the best scene in all of movie history when you are ready to tell people where to go!

This image and song got me through some mean princess times last fall and when ever I find myself in a situation I need to let go...it really works!

I can attest to that. I was pretty comfortable the majority of the race as I started in G but around the 11 mile marker it was very very congested and I basically walked the last 2 miles because it was extremely crowded. I know I wound up running 13.56 miles because of the weaving around folks in the mile 7-10 ish. I would definitely advise busting tail
And training to get corralled between A-H if you are wanting to be comfortable to stop for pictures and have some space to move.

I have a garmin that has an interval timer and 2:1 usually gets me a 12:30 pace.

I know there isn't an absolute answer but what pace should I shoot for in a 10k to get a F,G, or H coral placement?
