PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

Or he just made it up for some reason. I am thinking Star Wars might replace Everest Challenge next year. That way it would be run during Star Wars weekends. I can guarantee one thing, it will sell out FAST!
that would be awesome! Of course that means no Tinker for me - wish they hadn't moved that race.

Yeah, I don't know. I have no plans to do a DLP race anyways, but I know lots of people are dying to hear that announcement.

I am thinking a SW race will replace EC also. Makes sense to run during SWW. If that is the case, I am out for a while. EC falls on the weekend of my daughters dance recital each year. So...it would be 8 years before I could get there

Oh heavens! The only hard thing about a Star Wars run would be deciding which one:

Hi everyone,
I would like to join! I think I will be running this in February! So excited.
We became DVC members in February. So, we will be using our membership to stay at the Grand Floridian (our home). Our boys will be on winter break and will be able to enjoy the parks while we are there.

Running wise....I just completed my second half marathon last weekend with a PR of 2:06. My next goal is sub-2:00. I have 2 races in June, both are 10Ks. Typically I run twice a week. And then 3x per week I do MMA (mixed martial arts).

And since I am the only princess in my family ( I am outnumbered 3:1) I am fully embracing this and will be sporting pink, a tutu, tiara and anything else I can possibly think of! :)

:wave2: Welcome!! Sounds like the timing of PHM is perfect for your family with the kids being out on break anyways.

Great PR for you half marathon!

PHM weekend is a fun time to pamper yourself & have fun with pink, tiraras...etc.

Nice to have you here!!

I think the only solution is to choose both.
:scratchin
BTW - I confirmed that DVC Members and Annual Passholders can register beginning Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Noon Eastern Time.
Went for a half hour run Thursday, not sure of distance because I forgot to change my Garmin. Going this afternoon on my own for an hour. Wish you guys were here with me in Toronto!
The view from when I run (I am SLOW).

Good to know! :)

And someone mentioned about gels and refueling....I second the Honey Stinger brand. I used the gel because it's just flavored honey. I also like the chews in Pink Lemonade. I've tried some other gels and I don't like them at all! :P So, I usually carry 2 or 3 with me per Half Marathon.

Hi guys! I'm so sorry I haven't posted this week's workout plan. I had to take my computer to the Genius Bar this morning . . . It stopped booting up and apparently needs a new hard drive. :worried: In 3 - 5 days, I hope to have a computer that works like new! (Thank goodness I have everything backed up to Crash Plan!)

I had a great week last week workout-wise:

Morning Stretch - completed 5 minutes every morning

Steps - 117,799 (daily average 16,828)

Beginner Push Ups - Mon-Thu 32; Fri-Sun 35

Running / Walking - Still forcing myself to walk most days to allow IT band time to recover - Mon - walk 3.5 miles + 15 minutes treadmill; Tue - walk 2 miles; Thu - Zoom Through the Zoo 4 miler (47 min / 11'48 pace); Sat - walk 4.5 miles; Sun - walk 2.5 miles - TOTAL MILES 17

AMT (similar to Elliptical) - Tuesday and Wednesday, 15 minutes each day

Strength Training - Mon - 15 sets upper body; Tue - 15 sets lower body; Wed - 15 sets upper body; Fri - 15 sets lower body + 6 sets core; Sun - 22 sets lower body

Swimming - Sat - 10 laps in my apartment pool (not sure how many meters the laps are, my guess is 10m)

Have a fabulous Memorial Day and happy training this week!

Need an opinion

If I take my very responsible 12 year old daughter on the trip and do the run, what should I do morning of? Have her come with me and watch, have her wait for me in the room, or arrange child care. I don't know if cub care is open that early but I could do a fairy godmother babysitter I suppose...

I'd love your thoughts.

That's a tough one. At 12, she may be responsible enough to stay in the room. You would be back by 8 or 9 probably. But honestly it depends on the kid.

Honestly at that age, my parents let me go around the parks alone within certain rules. She will be fine. It's early enough that she should just be sleeping anyway or depending on the resort you are at, get a breakfast reservation for her.

Does she have a cell phone? She could call you if there was any problem. She will probably sleep the entire time I know mine will. I was going to have my daughter run with me but after taking her on a run today and having her start whining at 1/2 a mile I decided never mind. She can just sleep in or watch TV until I get back from the 1/2 marathon.

I would plan on arriving back at the room more like 9:30 or 10:00 just with bus and traffic post race. My daughter is 13 and I would leave her and maybe give her instructions to get breakfast and return to the room. But again if she is really responsible and mature, I don't find it unreasonable to leave her.

Hi Cupcakes...yes I have been AWOL once again.

I think I have finished licking my wounds from my disappointing interview last week and watching someone with ZERO knowledge get the position. I knew that would happen...higher ups think that they can teach anyone the content and want a yes sir type of person while people like me do all the work. It really baffles me why they would invest 7 years and countless hours of training only to put someone in the position who has none of the experience and none of the knowledge...It did give me a wake up call that I have been working way too hard and putting in way too much time trying to get someplace that is not going to happen for me. I am really not a sit back type of person, but I really don't see the point in doing all of this work anymore...I can do the basic like most other people in my same position/job and be done with it. I have already been approached to help this NEW person get started on some of the things that I outlined in my interview...REALLY!?! That is so not happening...

As for running...I really have not been doing any serious training for quite a few weeks...just my daily walking, which has been preoccupied while I practiced my interview responses in my head...which turned out to be pointless because they did not want to hear action and plans...but wanted me to spout out leadership crap from a book. Ugh. I really need to get back into running...

Europe trip plans are still not completely ready to go...although I finally found a fishing experience for my husband in Italy and for once I gave him a birthday present that he liked and is excited about.

School ends for the kids this Friday, while I am still on contract another week finishing up paperwork for the end of school and starting on plans for the beginning of school in August. Then I will teach summer school for 3 hours a day for 3 weeks...and teach 1 professional development class (yes, I just said I was pulling back from this stuff, but I am already committed)...the pay is awesome and will come in handy when we are in Europe!

That about catches you up with me...now to catch up on all the new cupcakes and the rest of the cupcakes who have stuck by this PTR while I go through my moods....

 Sometimes it seems like good things only happen to bad people. It sucks when hard work and dedication are brushed aside for the new, shiny toy.

I can't wait to hear about your trip. I am planning on heading back to England next year maybe. I really miss "home"

I am with you in the running. Between my pity parties, my busy schedule and my foot/ankle issues I haven't run a lick. Got to get back to it for TOT training!
