PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

That stinks! :worried:

Yep! These are the ones I got...just the regular ones. If I remember correctly I had to but them down a little bit to fit in my shoes:
https://www.powersteps.com/product-pages/original

They carried them at my running store. They also have them on Amazon.com.

Thanks! I am going to check these out...

As far as changing shoes, I've heard people say that their running stores will let them return a pair if they run in them a few times and find they are not working out. Mine does that too...so when you get a chance to go to that bigger running store maybe they have a similar policy? It's tough when the store isn't close though.

Mine has that policy...I just need to go try out some new shoes...
It's hard to find time to fit everything in! It might really help though, both physically and mentally (not a bad thing to do something non-running every once in awhile!).

I hope you can find a solution soon!

Tammie- If you order from roadrunnersports.com or runningwarehouse.com you can run in your shoes for 60-90 days and exchange them if they don't work out. I did that for some aside I ordered, ran about 30 miles in them and they really hurt my ankle and foot so I sent them back and went with my workhorse, the Nike Pegasus. So the investment is not as scary if you want to try and they don't work, just exchange! Just a word of warning, if you go to a low drop shoe, you need to work up to running in them because it can be shocking to you calf muscles.

Thanks...It is just hard to decide what I need after the local running store told me that I need 1 think and the jerk of a doctor told me something else....without really looking at my foot enough. I think I am just going to wait til I can get to a bigger city in the next few weeks and get the computer in depth done...

I managed my 12 miles this morning. My DH joined me for 8 miles, my dad joined up for the first 3 miles. It was a very hard run and my legs felt like I ran a marathon! They were really sore from my P90X3 yesterday and then the hills here didn't help much, but I did it! This was DH's first time running with the R/W method and at the first walk break he was a little annoyed, but then he really liked it and felt like he finished strong. Now we are going to the zoo for the afternoon and hopefully getting ice cream later!

How is everyone doing this fine morning?

Great run...:worship: hope you got your ice cream! Glad that DH ended up liking the walk breaks...

Hello Cupcakes! Happy Easter to those who celebrate! Made cupcakes today...ate WAY too much and had a few (maybe) glasses of bubbly. Back to the regimen tomorrow -- trying a 10k trail race Saturday. Made coconut cupcakes today with eggs- oh Cadbury you do me every time:)

Darn Reeses PB eggs are my weakness. I only bought the kids this year a bunny of the stuff so I cant eat them!

BTW - Tammie your doc stinks and should have an email campaign from the WiSH group. Rest, evaluate the gait and change shoes. I just bought two pair of "returned" running shoes at Roadrunner to give a few brands a try - they were 58$ a pair with my VIP card - wonder if you can call them and see of they have any. They resell the shoes that people return on the 90 day plan- they are basically new.

EMAIL???? Have not seen one...

Booked my room at BWV- yay!

Happy Easter! I hope everyone got to celebrate with their families!

My sweet Tebow woke up with a fever, so we stayed home this morning but went to my mom's for lunch.

MUSIC MONDAY

Look under your most played list...what running song is most played?

1. Let it Go (Idina Menzel)-Went through a period the last couple of months where I needed to remind myself to Let Things Go...found myself getting way too upset with people who I thought were my friends and they were being nasty about me...so whenever I wanted to scream I just played Let It Go as loud as I could...

2. Catch My Breath (Kelly Clarkson)-This is always my go to song in the middle of a work out...reminding myself that I am over half way and that I can finish this strong! Not really sure why this is popping up in the #2 spot...LOL

Mine is on shuffle.. but the ones that it seems to populate the most on shuffle mode are:

"Stronger" Kanye West

"Catch my Breath" Kelly Clarkson

and

"Till the World Ends" Brittney Spears (I can't believe I'm admitting that! :lmao:).

Busted! ;) I have Toxic by B.S. on my playlist.

I can't figure out how to see what my most played is, but I swear every time I'm running it's "Can't Be Tamed" by Miley Cyrus. It makes me run faster and feel like a bada$$. :lmao:

I don't listen to music on my runs, but I do have a running list for that moment when maybe I want it. My favorite songs on it are:

Roar~ Katy Perry
Jump in the Line~ Harry Belafonte

I know the second one is strange, but it is such a fun song!

well, I guess I am close to Jelly Rolls:). Staying at AKL for ToT - I love it there - but wanted to be able to do the post race stroll back to BWV.

Ooooh, perfect, then if we are too tipsy to find our way back to AKL, we can just follow you back to your room and passout! :lmao:

TOTALLY kidding! Probably. ;)

Lately most of my running music is coming from the Gaelic Storm station on Pandora but the most played band is Flogging Molly.

I'm terrible with song names but the one song that sticks out the most is Finnegan's Wake by Darby O'Gill. I know this song cycles through a lot.

Tim Finnegan lived in Walkin street.... I love that song!

Just catching back up and I think I would totally eat that bunny cupcake Yum Yum Yummy!!!

Ok, call me crazy but I actually LOVE my PT sessions. I went in a cycle from bad sciatic pain, hip, knee. All these went on for the pass 3 yrs I have been running. Well last Princess landed me back at my doctor because I had sciatic lower back pain to the point I could not get out of bed one day.
Anyway, I have been in PT for 6 weeks and a good therapist works you out!! Then stretches you out. I am only up to 2.5 miles right now because they want 12 weeks of total therapy before I am released. My therapist also sends me home with a list of exercise to do in the gym with weights. I know for "ME" iit has been a good partnership. I know it has been frustrating for you, Tammie. BUt I would fire the podiatrist and maybe take his offer on PT.
1 week before I start seriously training for our big summer 10k. I am hoping its a decent time so I dont have to do a fall one.

I am just like you, I LOVE my PT sessions! My PT would stretch me out and give me great exercises. I went for the first time 2 years ago and continued doing my exercises after I was done, I went back last year and my PT was surprised I was still doing them, happy, but surprised because most people stop. I am the type of person that if you tell me that I will stay healthy if I do an exercise, I will continue to do it no matter what! When I went back this last time, it was so nice to have someone stretch you. I joked that if he could just come each morning before my run and stretch me out like I was Deena Kastor, that would be great :). Good luck doing your 10k! When is it?

I am with you about doing things that help you stay healthy. My PT suggested I get a wrap for my abs to wear during my runs even that has helped!!
We have a huge 10k here in Ga on 4th of July. I normally use that time but since I am coming off of an injury I am unsure if I am going to race it or just enjoy the atmosphere and just find another one in the Fall.

4. What A Fool Believes - The Doobie Brothers
5. Welcome to the Jungle - Guns N' Roses
6. Headsprung - LL Cool J Feat Timbaland

Ok, so way back when I introduced myself I think I said I'd eventually do one of the little bio things...with pictures. I've never posted pictures to the DIS before, so lord knows what's about to happen here.

This is me, Samantha, on my wedding day last March:

(Wow. That's a huge picture of my giant face. Sorry!!)

Personal Side:
I'm a stay at home mother of two boys from a previous (disastrous) marriage. They are 8 and 10. I lead cub scouts (not really b/c I want to), I coach Odyssey of the Mind (because I love it), and I end up volunteering for all sorts of things because I have a problem saying no (that explains the cub scout thing).

I am married to the man who was my very first date (we saw Titanic). He's wonderful and supportive. We've been together for 5 years, married for one.

Here we are in New Orleans on our honeymoon:

Here are the boys:

Disney side:
For my entire childhood I wanted to be Snow White at Disney World. (I still say that if the world is ever upended and I am somehow a famous rapper, my rap name will be Snow White. Yep.) For every holiday my grandmother gifted me with one of those big fat plastic VHS cases holding a Disney movie.
I had my first opportunity to visit WDW when I was 19. I went as the guest of friends on their family vacation. I was part of the family for our two weeks at Wilderness Lodge. It was the trip of a lifetime. I saw Rick Springfield in concert at the House of Blues (amazing!!) and went to the Villains Dinner at the GF.
Here I am as Eeyore many, many years ago:

I do have hair in this picture, but it was June in Florida. I gave up on fixing my hair when I was there!
More recently, I was a CM at a Disney Store for a year until we had to move for my husband's job. The character name on my name tag? I give you three guesses ;) (hint: it was Snow White). I loved working there so much. It was fun, but exhausting. High fives all around to anyone else on this thread who works retail. You're a rockstar.
We are going to be staying at WL for a week this August (just a little over three months away! Woohoo!!) and I can't wait. We'll upgrade our tickets to APs in preparation for February.

Running Side: I always thought running was some sort of legal torture only masochists and crazy people engaged in. I have friends who are *serious* runners. (a friend from high school just finished the Boston Marathon with a time right around 2:30.) I just want to get in better shape and have another excuse to go back to Disney World. I want to eat cupcakes and drink boozy slushies. I started a little over a month ago. I'm hard on myself b/c I feel like I ought to be able to fly by now, LOL. Sometimes I can run a full mile without stopping, sometimes after 100 yards I feel like dying. I'm trying to take it day by day. The funny thing is, I really enjoy it. Who would have guessed? (not me). I also swear by post-run yoga.
My first ever 5K is on May 10th. Against better judgement I looked up last years' results. I figure I'll be finishing in the back of the pack for sure...and you know what? I don't even care. (that could change. Tomorrow I might cry in a corner from fear. today i'm cool, though.)

So I guess that's it. That's me in a nutshell. Long winded.

Is that the Peachtree race? I was at a conference in Atlanta last year at the end of June and saw advertisements for the race and someone was telling me it is a big race. I just can't imagine running the in GA heat for 10K, I am such a fair weather racer :).
