Phlufster needs to fit in her wedding dress! (comments welcome)

I know, I just love the dessert there!(melting pot)! Luckily most of the other stuff fits into my diet!!

So this morning I had a V8 and 4 low fat fig newtons for breakfast. For lunch I had a small piece of steak with mushrooms and raspberries (very yummy) and sweet potato with pecans and raisins on top. It was all very yummy and filling. I stayed within the guidelines of my diet and I feel really good about it. I am still full and it has been almost 2 hours since I ate. Usually I have to eat twice of what I did just to feel full. I am so excited that I am sticking to this. WIsh me luck for tonite because I am taking my DH2B's nephews to Chuck E. Cheese!! I am not going to have time to have dinner before we leave, so I am going to grab a V8 and some string cheese for the drive there. Hopefully that will be nough to fill me up so I don't gorge myself on pizza! I have decided that I will allow myself one slice of pizza with no meat, and thin crust if possible!! I love my Abs diet book because it gives you all these scenarios for eating out that have the "lesser of two evils" choices. It is really helpful. It covers the things you don't think of, like how many extra calories are in a deep dish slice versus a thin crust slice.

Here's to another good day!! I hope everyone is doing great as well!!

Jocelyn- Welcome to the journal boards. Just a couple of quick hints for you. I don't know what plan exactly you a following, but fitday.com is free. You can log your food and exercise and track calories, carbs, fiber, etc. It is a great way to figure out how you are doing. You'd be surprised sometimes at what is bad for you! :earseek:
Looks like you are doing well with drinking water which is good because it really helps! Especially if you eat a lot of sodium (restaurants, frozen food). Which leads me to another tip, Lean Cuisine or Smart Ones could be a nice option for you for lunch. Just grab it and go. Throw in a piece of fruit or celery, carrot, cucumber sticks and you'd be in great shape! I like to keep a bunch of snacks here at work "just in case" 100 calorie packs of cheese nips, honey nut cheerios, kudos bars, packages of oatmeal. That way if I'm famished, I have options other than the vending machine (or in your case, the kiddos snacks! ;) )
The other big thing is to find a way to get moving. I lost a ton of weight when I was out of work and my DD was 2 yo. I would put her in the stroller, grab a bottle for her, a water for me and then GO! Lots of hills in my neighborhood, but we'd walk up and down for a good 45 to 60 min. She enjoyed seeing the squirrels and birds, etc. and lots of times end up dozing off. I got a super workout by pushing the extra 25 to 30 lbs up all those hills!!! :teeth: My other idea is to second the WATP videos. They require very littlle space, are easy to follow, and I find the 3 mile with abs to be a great workout for me.
Again, welcome to WISH and congratulations on quitting smoking! I just know you can drop these pounds in no time!!! :cheer2:

TTFN- Sharon :sunny:

Don't forget that Chuck E Cheese may have a salad bar! That may be a good option for you as well, plus you won't be starving when you get home. :)

Please post if you find something worth taping on tv. I have been checking out FitTV but haven't found anything worth taping and working out too - just a couple of interesting shows.

Melting Pot?!?!? YUMBO!!! (That's a jumbo yummy! ;) )

HI Jocelyn, welcome to the boards! I was on here last year when I was trying to lose weight for my wedding and it did wonders!! I went from 169 to 153. lol Of course I went up a bit after the wedding, but I'm back down now that I'm here again:) So I have been working out to some of the FitTV shows recently and I recommend the shows with Cathe Friedrich, she has one on tomorrow at 11am, here's the description:

Cardio Blast
Supersets

Cathe Friedrich leads a total body weight training workout that provides great variety for muscles and as an overall workout program. The unique format utilizes a continuous series of exercises performed in repeated rounds to ensure a full body challenge.

Good luck! I'll be taping it tomorrow and do it later so I'll tell you if it's any good.

How did it go? I am sure you did great! You seem really comitted to making this work and it will work! Kepp it up! :cheer2:

I'll start off with the good news, I lost 5lbs!! Now that may be water weight and partially due to the fact that I was at the end of my TOM when I started, but I will take it!!!! :Pinkbounc

OK, chuck E. Cheese didn't go as well as planned, HOWEVER it wasn't that bad either! Basically I am over it yesterday was a new day, and so is today!! I am happy that my outlook is still positive! I had some downer moments, but then I logged on and got over it! :)

Yesterday went well, the only thing I was bummed about was that I had a cookie at the library, but it was only one cookie and I was great the rest of the day! Last night was whole wheat pasta with chicken and marinara. I got into a tiff with DH2B because he wants to diet with me, but then he got all mad because I wouldn't let him have garlic bread (one of the dissadvantages of non-dieting roommates, seperate meals) I got really frustrated with him because he tells me that he wants to do this and that he is unhappy with his wieght, but then when we sit down to eat he makes it sound like I am forcing him to do it. I told him that it makes me feel bad when he does that and that he was welcome to eat whatever he wants, but then I don't want to hear about his "fat gut." He realized that he was being a dumba$$ and that it is just hard for him too. The hardest part for him is lunch because they eat fsat food everyday. I gave him some good options at some places, but he doensn't seem to grasp the concept. He was all proud that he had the filet-o-fish yesterday and I had to explain to him that if things are are breaded and deep fried that they basically lose all nutritional value! I give him credit for trying though! I told him to stick with grilled chicken! He only has this job for a few more months, so hopefully when he gets a new one he will be able to have more control over his lunch.

SO far today I had a breakfast burrito made with scramble eggs (nuked), salsa, half slice of cheese, and some tomatoes. It was ok, not the best I have ever had, but not too bad. It needed more flavor. It was supposed to have green onion, but I didn't have any, I think that would definatley help.

SO, here's to another good day.
BTW, It has been 7 weeks of no smoking!!! (and no cravings or urges to smoke!!! :cheer2: )

Jocelyn

Great job on not smoking :cool1: !!!That is awesome!

Also Congrats on the 5 lbs! You are doing great!~ :cheer2: Keep it up!

BTW dieting men are such babies!~ :rotfl2: My DH has been sneaking chips etc at lunch and I just look at him and roll my eyes!

:cool1:  :cool1: CONGRATS on NOT smoking!!! :cool1:  That is REALLY worth celebrating! You are adding years to your life. Congrats!!

:Pinkbounc :cheer2: WOO HOO on the FIVE pounds!!! :cheer2: :Pinkbounc That's awesome! You should be SO happy! You are doing great!

I love having someone who wants to diet *with* me, but I hate when I am supposed to be dieting and planning for two.

Yesterday was a great day!!! First of all, I didn't cheat at all!!! Secondly, we found somewhere to live!! We (DH2B and I) live with his sister and her two kids and they just sold their house. We have to be out by March 14th and before yesterday we had no idea where we were going!! That added alot of stress to everyone, as you can imagine. We put in an application for this great duplex that we really wanted, but we hadn't been hearing anything. Finally I told her to call and the guy said we had it!! YEAH!!! I did the happy dance (does that count towards exercising??) :) So, now we have somewhere to go and I can stop stressing and start packing! Luckily I don't have that much stuff, DH2B in the other hand, has way too much! The one thing that is kind of a bummer is that we are moving to Wisconsin in June, so we are basically going to have to move in March and then again 3 months later! We are focusing right now on packing up things that we won't need at the new house so it can just stay in boxes. We're hoping to have most of our stuff still packed when we are ready to leave in June. WE would go right to Wisconsin now, but I have a commitment with the family that I nanny for to stay through the school year. The other great thing about this new place is that it is almost half of what we pay now, and just as much room!!!

Ok, on to my diet...yesterday was cheat free!! I made a really nice dinner last night. It was baked tilapia with red, yellow and green peppers served with brown rice and a black bean ragout. It was so simple and it looked so nice. This is something that you could make for company and they would be impressed and have no idea it was so healthy!

So here's to another great day!

Jocelyn

Phlufster!!! You are doing GREAT!!!! 5 pounds is AWESOME and the variety in your foods is GREAT!!! I need to take some hints from you!!! :) I love all your musings about why we tend to not choose wisely...it's all a comfort thing I guess...we've built such bad habits that it's comfortable...but I promise after 2-3 months of eating like this you will prefer it!

Whenever I start a new weight loss I have to do something stark like just one week of no carbs because then I realize how much of my meals are CARB loaded! EEK! Then it makes me more aware of when I start adding them back in to make them good ones...like veggies and whole wheat...I cut out french fries, white flour products (down to croutons :)), and refined sugar...I'll let myself have semi-sweet chocolate chips as a cheat but only about 10-15 and only when I'm desperate (TOM usually)...it also helps me to weigh everyday for the first month just to get a handle on what helps me lose/gain/stagnate...and last but not least...I add in exercise after that first week of no carbing and really try to up it each week! Hard...but it can be done.

Your wedding is going to be BEAUTIFUL not because you're thinner or the dress fits better it's because you are treating your body like it should be!! Fit and FABULOUS!!! :)

Keep up the great work!!!!
Tara

Hi Jocelyn,

I just got around to reading your journal. I really like your deep thoughts on dieting. If you master the "of course I'd choose the carrot stick" let me in on the secret!!!!!!

Five pounds lost AND 7 weeks smoke free is an incredible accomplishment :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Keep up the great work :flower:

OK, the weekend was rough with my Birthday and Valentine's Day, but tomorrow is a new day!! I got my exercise ball for my b-day so I have another fun exercise to do!! YEAH!! My boss also just got a Gazelle, so that will be something that I can do over there. THat was one of the things that I wanted to do was start exercising at their house. I planned on just doing pilates videos, but the Gazelle will be much more fun and a harder workout!

I am not going to talk about this weekends eating because it wasn't always good, but it wasn't all bad either. I am excited to get back to my strict dieting. I got a couple of cook-books at the library today!!

I don't know if anyone is watchign todays Oprah, but it about a guy that lost 500 lbs! It is crazy!! If he can lose that much, I know I can get rid of 25!!!

Happy V-Day!!
Jocelyn

Hi, Jocelyn! Well, I just read your journal and it is very entertaining and inspirational! It is wonderful that you quit smoking and you are doing great so far! My b-day is in 2 weeks so it is nice to see another Feb. b-day girl on here...lol! Anyway, I just have to add that is a great pic in your sig. You and your DH2B look so cute together and I think you look great whether you lose weight or not. Of course, don't take that to mean you should quit dieting. A healthy lifestyle change would be fundamental even to the thinnest person out there. ;)

I watched Oprah!!! That was amazing! ( I was on the tredmill!)

Yes, the weekend is over... Look forward not back and you will be great! :flower:

Thanks to everyone who writes in my journal, it is so fun to see what advice and words of encouragement people have to say! I really enjoy seeing new posts! Thanks!

Well I am getting over the flu right now. Monday night I started to feel sick and ended up throwing up all night. Yesterday I tried to sleep most of the day and I feel somewhat better today. I felt so bad calling into work, but then I found out that the woman I work for was sick too, so her husband stayed home with the kids. Today we are both feeling somewhat better. They had the kids' grandma watch them until 11:30 this morning so I could sleep in and that definately helped. I am still feeling icky, but the kids are napping so I can just rest for a bit. The good news is that I definately didn't cheat yesterday! I was able to eat some chicken soup for dinner and then a handful of wheat thins later on. I also tried to eat a small piece of cheese pizza (I know, I know) but that wasn't so good for my tummy! It was funny because I was so bummed that I was sick, but this little part of me was so happy that I didn't have an appetite!

Anyway, that is where I am right now. I feel like I am starting over with my diet, but that's ok. I am just hoping that I will fell like exercising soon. I was so excited to start with my new ball and now I have to wait. I tried to do some crunches and then realized I was crazy and stopped. Maybe tomorrow I will fell up to it.

Did anyone else see Oprah's boot camp?? I am thinking that I am going to incorporate some of those ideas into my diet, like to no white stuff and no eating after 7:30.

Hoping to feel better soon!
Jocelyn

I am so sorry you are sick!!! I hope you are feeling better today!!!

Oprah's boot camp here we come! :cool1:

Well, I am feeling a little bit better today, but still don't have my strength back. I tried to go work out in the Gazelle and I had to stop after two minutes. My body is not ready yet.

I am so glad to get back to eating good again, I let myself slip a little the last couple of days since I barely ate anything at all. Today I am back to it, and I am not looking back. The good news is that I seem to have lost a pound, but I am not going to count it yet. I want to wait and see if it stays off, or if it is just from being sick.

This morning I had about 6 huge blackberries for breakfast. I just wasn't hungry for my oatmeal so I didn't have it. I brought two V8's today because they seem to really do the trick as a snack. They fill me up and I feel so healthy after!! Also they are incredibly easy to have anywhere. Instead of stopping at Dunkin Donuts for coffee, now I just grab my V8 and drink that instead!

Jocelyn

Glad to hear you are feeling a little better! :grouphug: Get some more rest!!
