I thought I'd get some advice from the experts -- I was ready to book airfare on USAIR last week for our trip in OCT, $119 each way, but thought I'd wait it out to get a lower price. I just checked and the prices for those flights have almost doubled! :scared1: We have 3 small kids and the flight times worked perfectly with nap time, I'd rather not change the times to save $ if the prices will come back down. My questions is will the prices come back down or have I lost my window of opportunity? Our other option is to wait for SW to open Oct dates but DH get too stressed out waiting for seats, he's rather spend a little more to get seats at purchase time. TIA!

That sounds way too high for flights out of PHL. Remember, US air doesn't calculate out the taxes until you go to purchase.

You shouldn't have to pay much over $200 RT out of PHL. For some reason flights out of PHL are very high this summer and fall. I would not book yet. If you are close enough, you may also consider flights out of BWI or ABE. BWI is still $79 each way on SWA through 8/24. PHL is $117 each way on SWA.

Also - check Air Tran. They are $99 each way out of PHL.

I am waiting for a better price also. popcorn::
I really dont want to get stuck driving:headache:
But that would make dh happy, he hates to fly.
Air tran is 99. each way right now, but I like us air. I was thinking of waiting for southwest but that dosent look promising either:confused: it seems like its going to be 117 each way! What to do what to do.....

Too bad you missed the $27 Airtran sale this past Friday. I got Philly to Orlando for $27 in October. I'm still waiting a November sales to book my return trip.
You may still be able to get a good deal when Southwest releases their October dates.

I checked that out as well, that price is for seat assignments at check-in. We're traveling with 8 people and would like to be together. At minimum we'll need 6 seats together as we have 4 kids and we won't fly separated. I know I'll have to pay more for that "perk" and we're preapred to do that but I think $400 r/t is crazy! Especially when there are 6 in my family. :scared1: I guess I'll have to keep checking and jump once the price drops. Thanks for all your suggetions! :thumbsup2

I have no fears of using Airtran because of not having assigned seats. You can pick your seats a day ahead when you print your boarding passes. I travel with kids and have always managed to sit together.

Please let us know if you spot another amazing $27 flight for November. I need late November with a return in Dec. If we stick together we can do it!!!

that's good to know -- thank you!

Hi - don't know where in PA you are, but if Atlantic City is not too far, check out Spirit Air. They have $79 each way ACY to MCO in Oct.

We flew them a couple years ago and they were fine - just like SW or Airtran. And Atlantic City's airport is very small & easy to get around. Painless.

I got USAIR for $69 to MCO from Philly and $59 coming home. We're going in April. For the 4 of us it came out to $589 total with taxes and fees, and we were able to pick our seats right then and there.

I have flown AirTran twice in the past two years out of Philly. Both times I have always been able to get seats together with my family when checking in 24 hours prior. Once with 6 people and the other with 4 people. Even on the return flights we all ended up together when we checked in at the airport on the day of the flight. I wouldn't worry either about booking with AirTran and not having seat reservations.

For booking your flights, I would wait a little while on booking. The prices you are getting now are pretty high. I remember last year AirTran was constantly offering specials out of Philly to Orlando. Of course, that is by no means what they might do this year. Also, if my memory serves me right, AirTran had more than the 4 daily PHL-MCO non-stops that are listed now. They might add more flights as time goes on.

It is a shame you missed last Friday's special. $27 fares. Once I saw that I booked it right away. The MCO-PHL portion on 10/3/07 was $27. The PHL-MCO flight on 9/26/07 was $99 and I should have probably waited to book that one. However, I was so excited to get an airfare cheaper that last year's I booked it. R/T total came out to $145.30/person.

OK! Sign up for airtran and usair and spirit email specials and you will know as soon as they are released when there is a sale! If you don't mind flying out of ACY to Mco and you get a good airfare you can go online and reserve your seats 90 days prior to your departure! I did mine back in Jan for April! There is 7 of us flying! If not be patient and wait southwest or airtran will have a good deal! Don't forget to download ding for southwest that is how you get the best deals! Check it daily! :)

I checked a little while ago and it was still at $49!!! Now if only they'd open up their dates for the fall early-LOL!
