I just got back last night from Disney. We traveled on Monday 10/14 on USAirways and returned last night on AirTran. I must say that I was a little worried about the return flight because I have not heard much of them but we were extremely pleased. The plane was much nicer than the USAirways plane (I believe it was new) The seats were comfortable (well... by airplane standards), the staff was pleasant and it was overall a good flight.
Now for a mini vent:
I was "randomly selected" on 2 occassions leaving Philly - fine, okay, no problem. When we arrived in Orlando we saw how extensive their security was and decided right there and then we were going to arrive at least 3 hours ahead of time. Well.... we did. We arrived at 3:30 for our 6:55 flight, checked in and all 4 of us were told we needed to have our bags checked. Fine.... we waited (and I am not exaggerating) 1 hour just to get to the security check, which was 5 feet from the checkin area, and another 45 minutes to get through our 8 bags. They had 1 person opening every bag, pulled out every single item, unfolding it, placing it on the table and then put everything back in, closed the suitcase and put it on the belt. Not ONCE during the check did she open up ANY of the zippered compartments. I also noticed that as we were nearing an end to our search, that people who arrived at 5:30 for the 6:55 flight did NOT have their bags searched.
Please do not misunderstand what I am saying - I am extemely pleased they have upgraded the security measures but I do not appreciate being "targeted" because we were smart enough to arrive early. And I certainly don't appreciate waiting almost 2 hours to have our bags checked and then not checking all of the compartments!!!!
The same thing happened at MGM - I waited 20 minutes to get to the security bag check. When I got there, the security guard felt the bottom of my bag (which had 3 zippered compartment) did not even check the inside and hurried me along. I am willing to wait the 20 minutes with no complaints, but don't make me wait and then just act like you are checking.
Sorry so long!!!
