I have gotten 5 this week (two different letters, but both fraudulent). I sent the first one to Chase, but they were already aware of it. Anyone else getting these?

Tammy

Yes, I've gotten several in the last two weeks or so.

I get several a week. Since I don't have a Chase account they make interesting reading (in my preview window. I never open them) before I hit delete.

My ex got one right after I used a Chase card (to buy tickets for Wicked) we hadn't used it in 10 years, I don't even know why he still has one in my name :confused3 Anyway so he forwarded the e-mail to me to look into and I thought it was odd that there was no phone number to call - only the link. So I called Chase and they said yep it's fake. I was so tempted to send it back to my ex and tell him he was supposed to go to the link and fill out the questions completely :lmao: Anyway, I thought the timing was quite ironic.

They say that over 60% of Phishing scams are inside jobs.

I work for Chase, and we have been getting all kinds of faxes from our district secretary with about 6 different phishing email scams. Forward anything that says it is from Chase to abuse@chase.com. If it turns out to be a legitimate e-mail, they will let you know, but it is better to be safe than sorry.

I'm not sure but I might have gotten one last week. It said it was from chase and gave a link to go to to update your info so they could send out notices of new policies/benefits. The link actually was chase.com plus more after that. I forwarded it in to the abuse email since it seemed odd. Was that a fake? Also could someone explain what phishing is and what happens if you click the link?

I got one this week and I don't have a Chase account.

Never use the link they provide!! ALWAYS go to the bank website directly and login or call their customer service number.

I haven't got one from Chase, but I get 1-3 every week for PayPal! :scared: I called them when I got the first one and they said, "Forward it to spoof@paypal.com" I was told that Paypal would never send an email without it being addressed to us. They would also not ask for pin numbers and cc numbers by email.
We have to be on our guard at all times! :headache:

Phishing ( fishing ) is you throw a line out and hope to hook someone .

Now the hook or catch is you click on the link and it might ask you for your info or look just like a log-in page.So you enter this as well .It then faults out so you just go away.
Now they have your login info and can go into your account and do as they please.

#2 is you click the link and now you have a worm or virus that takes over your computer.

You should NEVER ( unless you can see the entire e-mail address or link info and you TRUST IT )click any link to an E-mail copy (on paper not ctrl+C ) the info and go directly to the sight then enter the info from there. If it's legit it will direct you to the correct info .

I have gotten several and forwarded them to abuse@chase.com and they responded back with they are fake and they are looking into the problem.

Glad it's not just me. I only recently opened a Chase account (Jan) and can't believe the number of emails that I get! Being a new customer to them, at first I wasn't sure if that was the way they did business or what. Thankfully I just ignored them. Now I know to forward them to abuse@chase.com. Good information to know.

Besides all the fake emails i got a "chase" phone call last week.
Caller rattled off a cc # with a different ending then mine, told me my balance(incorrect), told me my limit (incorrect).
Said she wanted to customize my account and asked if i usually carried balances on store cards.
Sounded fishy.
Soi i said "i don't answer questions like these on the phone " and hung up.

Anybody else getting chase calls?

I'm not sure why people would think it's an inside job when the emails are going to people who don't even have a relationship with Chase.

There was an article a few days ago. Phishing is being replaced with key logging programs. They are smart enough to just start logging your keystrokes when you enter specific website, such as banks, and then transmit your id and password to the crooks.

The trojan horse programs are either installed from spam email or when you visit a "bad" website which might automatically install the trojan horse.

I'm glad a lot of you are forwarding these on to Chase so they're aware of the problem.

I'm afraid I'm guilty of just hitting the delete button.

I get a lot of the pfishing e-mails, but don't think I've ever gotten a scam phone call.

The keystroke thing is disturbing!
