Philly Distance Run - Updated List as of 9/07

Anytime Saturday afternoon is fine with John & I. We will be driving into Philly on Saturday to pick up our packets, driving home after the meet/dinner, then driving back in on Sunday morning for the race. We are about an hour 15 min away.

Pat - sorry to hear you had a wrench thrown into your plans. Hope you've been able to get it all figured out.

Can't believe it is only 4 weeks away!

Hi all!

Back from vacation and not really ready to go back to the rat race!;)

I think meeting at the Convention Center would be easiest. From there it's a 2-3 block walk to the restaurant.

How 'bout if we set up the meeting time for 2:30PM. Then we can walk over to the restaurant for lunch/dinner at 3 PM. That way it shouldn't be too crowded yet with Saturday night visitors. I'll take names for those who want to go to the restaurant up until Sept. 12th. Then I'll make the reservations.
If that time frame is not good for everybody, let me know. I just wanted to put a time out there so people can plan.

Terri

Terri - you can count on me and my husband (Tom) - he's not running the PDR but will be running the WDW half and wants to meet some of the team. I'm still checking on things with my brother.

When it gets closer we should just pick a corner to meet at at the Convention Center, and then we can walk over together.

I'm really looking forward to this now! I just did my longest run of my training yesterday (10 miles) and it went great. It will be terrific to meet all of you!

Terri - Welcome back from vacation and hoping being back to reality isn't too stressful for you come Monday morning. 2:30 sounds like a good time to meet. Thanks again for organizing this:hug: You can count me in for a party of two - Sara and Kris.

Kira - Glad to hear your LR went really well:banana: . Mine, not so much:headache: , since I waited too long to get out there and it was way too hot and sunny for a 10 miler.

Karen - Four weeks does seem right around the corner:eek:

I hope everyone else had sweet LR's this past weekend:cheer2:

Please count me in for the meet! And I am sure Anne and her DH want to be included too.

I received my race info today. I'm in corral 17, bib # 17191. That doesn't tell me a lot because I didn't see how many corrals there are.....of course I had my eyes dilated today and my vision isn't back to normal, so maybe it was in there somewhere. Anyway, it means it is getting close!!!

Hi Pat!

My race information came yesterday. I am in Corral #10 and my Bib # is: 10300.

B. Running the 13.1 miles :headache: (in record time?) :confused3
C. Getting it over with. :thumbsup2
D. Getting it over with so I can continue to train for the Marine Corps Marathon. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
E. All of the Above.

Answer: E

Pat - I don't have my confirmation card with me right now but I'm 99% positive my race # is 17223. I know I'm in corral 17:banana: Speaking of Anne, I knew she was going to be without internet for a while but is she doing okay?!

Howard - I know you've put in the work, I've seen your splits, and I see a new PR in your future for sure:yay:

Speaking of Anne, I knew she was going to be without internet for a while but is she doing okay?!

I talked to Anne this past weekend. She is doing well and managing to get her steps in, and very much looking forward to Philly!

Terri - 2:30 meeting time, 3:00 lunch/dinner sounds good to John & I. Thanks for coordinating this for all of us.

Really looking forward to seeing everyone!

I'm in corral 16. Don't have my number handy.

I have a question for those who will be going to lunch in Chinatown. Do you want to order off the menu or do you want it set up like Chinese New Year where it's a 10 course meal? Don't worry - the 10 courses will not leave you feeling weighted down for race day. ;) If we get the 10-course meal, it will be a per head charge (possibly $25). I'm checking out the details with the owner.

When I went for Chinese New Year this is what we had for our 10 courses (as best as I can remember):

soup
dumplings (fried and steamed)
walnut shrimp (shrimp with broccoli and walnuts in a creamy sauce -my fave)
long life noodles
General Tso's chicken
duck
a beef dish
orange slices
fortune cookies

I'm missing a dish - can't remember what is was. There is also tea and water to drink. Other beverages are extra.

They bring out each dish and put it on a lazy-susan type turntable. Everyone helps themselves. When teh plate is empty, they bring out the next dish. It's kind of like a taste test. Everyone gets a little of the 10 choices.

We can pick what we want for the 10 choices. I can stop by and get a menu and post the options, if we want to go that route.

Let me know what everyone's thoughts are on the meal options.

Terri

Terri, the ten course meal sounds like a lot to me - I'm not a very adventuresome eater, especially the day before a half, but if that is what the group wants I will go along.

Terri, both people in my party are vegetarians but I'm up for whatever the general concensus of the group is. The walnut shrimp sounds awesome!

Terri - We would prefer to order off the menu. Like Pat, I am not an adverturesome eater, although I am sure there would be something I would eat. Our biggest thing is that John actually doesn't eat chinese at all. Since that is were everyone wanted to go, he said that would be fine, he would just order something to drink & maybe beef on a stick or a salad. If the group would prefer to do the 10 course thingy, that is fine. We would just meet up with everyone at the expo to say hello and then go our seperate way.

Thanks again for coordinating this!

:surfweb: I think Cam and I would prefer to order off the menu too.

Not a problem. Ordering off the menu makes it easy! 21 days and counting!

Terri

Hi all! I'm in corral 3, #3577. I had to call Elite since I never received anything in the mail. :confused3

We just got back from the DL 1/2 and had such a good time we are looking for another race. My DH and I are debating signing up for this one, we live really close to Philia so travel is not a problem. We are doing Tot in Oct then the full at WDW in Jan. The DL 1/2 was our first ever 1/2 and we are trying to train to be able to do the full by Jan-- both of us are pretty new to running. Should we do this race, wait and do the Philia 1/2 in Nov, or kip the extra 1/2 and just do ToT? I'd love opinions. Thanks.

Jen~

Hi! I hope you'll join us. I've heard nothing but good things from everyone who has run this race and in Runners World magazine. It is supposed to be one of the best half marathons, fast and flat, etc.

This will be my first time running this race, but my 6th half marathon overall. I think I am almost over-extended in my races this fall (PDR, MCM, PM, and the Goofy (plus the 5K) at Disney World. I don't have the ToT on my schedule this year, I did it last year.

I have tried to get this race into my Marine Corps Marathon training schedule and it fits perfectly. I have a 13 mile run scheduled for that day.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Howard
