Hi,

I booked an Airtran flight out of Philidelphia airport leaving at 8:30pm on a Friday. Well lo and behold they moved the flight up to 7:24 and now I'm nervous about making it on time w/ traffic. I am coming from the Princeton area and due to work I can't get on the road until 4:30pm. How tied up will traffic be on I-95 in the Philly area at this time? An hours worth of traffic? More?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

You're right. I-95 tends to be pretty messy that time of day. If there are events at any of the Stadiums (stadia?) or the Wachovia center that's even more true. The being said, I think if you're on the road from Princeton AT 4:30 you should arrive to PHL by 6:00 even with typical traffic. Very possibly even earlier if there's nothing unusual. If you're parking in economy parking (I'm just guessing) you'll be tight, but it'll be doable. I understand security is moving pretty quickly now. If you print your boarding passes at home you can by pass that step and check your luggage at the curb (I think you can for Air Tran, anyway). So, don't sweat it!! But, try to sneak out of work at 4:00 if you can! :)

Going south on 95 at that time a day shouldn't be too busy. Check traffic.com to see if there are any tie ups. 95 is better then trying to go down 295 and then cutting over on 42 to the Walt Whitman. 295 gets very heavy between Rt. 70 and 42 on a Friday afternoon. I would agree that if you can get out by 4:00 you would be in better shape. I like getting to the airport early rather then having to stress about it during the drive.

can you take PATCO? does that line run out to Princeton? :scratchin

Two radio stations have pretty good traffic reports: 1050am and 101.5 fm.
The AM station is 1060, not 1050. The problem with 101.5 FM is it's "NEW JERSEY 101.5" and doesn't concentrate on Philadelphia/Pennsylvania traffic too much, except for Delaware River crossings.

And as to Philadisney's idea, the PATCO line doesn't go anywhere near Princeton. The closest it gets to Princeton is, give or take a few miles, Camden. :rotfl:

I agree with MariDisney that the ride likely will take 60-90 minutes.

Thank you all so much for your quick and positive replies!! I should have posted weeks ago... I've been really stressing about it and your responses really reassured me that all will be "okay". And the positive side of the change in flight time is 1 more hour in Disney!!!
