How did you get seriously interested in DVC?

Do you like the Hyatt in Carmel? I love Carmel and am rather partial to Hyatt as well!

The Hyatt in Carmel aka Hyatt Highlands Inn is lovely and the staff is great. However the Hyatt timeshare system has changed a lot and now is one to avoid. I didn’t mention this in my post, but if I thought Hyatt was still worth owning.i still own it. This has nothing to do with the properties themselves, though. If you’re thinking of going as a non-owner, I’d give it 4-5 stars out of 5!

We are walkers. On vacation we like to park the car and not get back in until it is time to go home. We also like to feel 'safe' walking. When we discovered the BC we discovered Disney was this type of a vacation. SOLD. (There is, of course, a lot more to the story but that is the basics.)

Read about it and watched some videos out of interest before going to WDW for the first time. A matter of months before my first (solo!) trip to WDW I starting dating someone who is a DVC member, so after my first trip I started thinking about DVC more seriously. It would be cool to bring the same amount of points “to the table” so to speak.

Resale as well made it a real possibility for us. We did a low pressure tour, went home and researched resale more , then dove in. My parents also bought in at the same time and it has brought us so many years of vacations and memories.

We first heard about DVC in 2000 when my sister got married. She and her then husband at the time were considering it but their lives got complicated pretty shortly thereafter. We also had friends whose family had DVC and one of my cousins also had DVC. Did not think much of it for us until after our first trip with our son in 2008. Then we started doing research. Finally pulled the trigger in 2013 with a 100 VGF point direct contract. We figured that it would hold its value pretty well while we tested out how much use it provided based on our travel patterns. We found our selves renting from David's for almost every trip. Over the years our family grew to 5 and there is always a grandparent or 2 or a sister or a niece or a nephew that wants to go so we picked up a bunch of resale BWV and BLT in 2024. No regrets!
