Philharmagic and FP for shows

Two quick questions if you will indulge me.
Philharmagic is showing up as having no fast passes available on the 5th of July, not that I was going to make one but thought that was unusual. Is it to be closed for refurb then?
Also, assuming that I'm not interested in getting the very best seats, are there any shows that actually require a FP or should you get in to them all in a reasonable time e.g. 20/30 minutes.

I don't know about Philharmagic, unless they've just decided to stop offering FP for that ride. I'm not aware of any refurbs planned for it during that time.
There aren't any shows I can think of that require a FP. For the shows, the FP just lets you into "better" seating. But truly, if you arrive early like you mention you can get good seating.

They weren't showing unavailable for my trip mid May as well but it was open when I was there. FP definitely wasn't needed anytime I was around it.

It’s closing for refurbishment someone told me. I wanted to take my family there at the end of the month.

I've been watching Philharmagic on the DIBB for the last couple of days and it shows no FP available through July 12 (but it doesn't show it as closed). It has been appearing as open on the Lines app as well, so maybe they just aren't doing FP anymore? But I don't understand why the DIBB would show FP+ as available starting July 13. I haven't seen anyone who is there now reporting it as closed.

From April 16 to May 3, the Disney PhotoPass Studio inside of Castle Couture (located next to Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom Park) will undergo enhancements and temporarily relocate to the indoor FastPass+ queue of Mickey’s PhilharMagic. When the Disney PhotoPass Studio reopens in Castle Couture on May 4, there will be additional backdrop options, new props, and upgraded lighting.

The Disney site says the refurb of Castle Couture starts/started May 20, so maybe that is why there is no FP for Philharmagic

For shows we love, we always make sure to get in line early.
The only show we are always sure to get a FP for is Lion King at AK, and even then we grab a snack or drink and get in line early.

We get in line pretty early for Frozen and Beauty and the Beast at HS. Those are good ones to just hang out and have a snack, too
