Philadelphia Travel Advice Needed

Dalessandro's steaks (which isn't in center city) is excellent as is chubby's which is across the street.
Dalessandro's always has a line. We pass it on our way into the city and out of the city. We've always said we're going to stop there, but when we're on our way home, we typically have full bellies from dinner in the city. OP, this is about 30 minutes outside of the city on Henry Avenue.

DH and I love to go into the city to hang out and have dinner. DH isn't much into museums or history, so we typically go to his favorite men's store and then to have drinks before dinner.

If you like oysters, The Oyster House on 15th and Sansom is really good. I didn't like oysters until we started going there.

We've recently eaten at Dante and Luigi's on south 10th. We've always wanted to go there, but DH would find other places to try. He has already been back to D&L with his friends since we ate there in mid-February. Ralph's is another very good Italian place in the Italian Market (Rocky runs through this in the first movie). Ralph's only takes cash, so be aware of that.

We went to Longwood Gardens in mid-February. The conservatory was gorgeous and the Dupont mansion was also very nice. DH wants to go back when the grounds aren't dead, and the fountains are operating, so I have that to look forward in the spring or summer.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn in Media the last time we were there. It was convenient into and out of the city. Staying in Valley Forge is going to make you have to drive the Schuylkill Expressway. We avoid that because it is often times a parking lot called an expressway. When DH goes with his friends, he likes to stay in Ft. Washington at the Hilton property there.

The last time we were there was many years ago for a 3 or 4 day trip and we stayed at a Loews that was very close to where we could walk to a lot of the attractions - Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Constitution Museum, Mint, Jewish Museum plus some others but we drove to Franklin Institute and the zoo. We did take the metro to a Phillies game.

Oysters are not a good summer food. While highly unlikely, warmer water can result in raw oysters that have a bacterial infection that could kill you. There are usually 2-10 deaths per year in the US. One notable one from within the last few years was at the Rustic Inn in Fort Lauderdale- a man died after eating oyster. I love the Rustic Inn - it was my #1 restaurant as a kid- banging crabs with mallets! I love oysters! I like summer. The three, in combination. are bad deal. Only eat Oysters in months that gave a R in them!

And, yes, the specimens in the Mutter are real. I was friends with Carol, Harry Eastlack’s companion exhibit. I have the same condition- my skeleton is pretty much the same as theirs.

Coincidentally, Gretchen Worden, q former director of the museum, was a colleague from my museum days.

And if you want to do some shopping the KOP mall is huge and has some high end stores. Lego store there if interested. It’s very close to where you will be.

And my adult kids are waiting for ChickenTime to open in the one food court in that mall. To open this Summer. Otherwise, they end up at the Melt Shop, 5 Guys, or Shake Shack.

Mall does get much more crowded on the weekends. Near mall is large movie theater, and and an I fly indoor sky diving place. Several entrances off of Route 202 to get to mall, and road around mall to get to I fly and movie theater.

What hotel(s) would be recommended near Citizens Bank Park?
Are you planning to drive, walk, Uber or take Public transit to CBP ? Only a few are really in walking distance. One is part of a Casino.

I’m looking at Sheraton City Center on Race Street. Would consider taking public transit.

You have a 3 block walk to the Broad Street line which will take you south to CBP. Not sure what that area is like late at night if it is an evening game.
Not walkable location to the Park.
