Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I'll probably sign up-- DH and I have to sit down and figure out if it works with our schedules, but it doesn't take too much arm twisting to get him to agree to a race.

I have to say I also love Yankee candles-- Home Sweet Home is my favorite, but the autumn themed ones are nice too.

lou: I know all of the celebs-- pretty cool day

I did 11 miles this am, I really need to work up my mileage (and take fewer walk breaks), I'm slow as it is, so the big miles take lots of time that is tough to find in my schedule.

I'm off now to make costumes for MNSSHP-- were are off to Disney in 10 days :cool1: to vacation then run in the ToT.

Dave - My son who left for the University of Oregon last month has an iPhone but he's yet to check in with me :rolleyes1 Glad you're lovin:love: yours. I hope you're well and the hip's feeling better:thumbsup2

Cindy - :rotfl2: :rotfl: Okay, okay. I still don't believe it though:rolleyes1

Lou - Best of luck with your race this weekend:yay: . Glad you're taking it easy!

Jodi - The code was a bust:headache: . Hopefully the pin doctor will fix you up real good:scared:

No running for me today. After work I played Taxi/Huggy Dad and drove my son home, then I did yard work (XT) for an hour (mowing and trimming), then I met Cam for our first group dance lesson (Fox Trot). It went well, I stepped on a couple of toes, but no permanent damage was done to any of my dance partners.

Lou~ Good luck with your run this weekend. I'll be thinking about you. I am traveling to the Pittsburgh area on Friday evening and staying until Sunday. Sometime Saturday AM I am going to run my 20 mile LR. It won't be fun on the hills near where I grew up, that's for sure.

Dave~ Enjoy your new toy!

Jen~ I hope you guys sign up for the half. It will be great to see you both again.

Cindy~ Great job with the ATM! You are speedy and definitely inspire me (as does Matt).

Colleen, Chester, Mike, Sara, and Jodi ~ :wave2:

Have a great night!

Quiet here today.

Jen - I have the Autumn Wreath candle burning in my office now. Good stuff.

Dave - I love my iPhone too. Got one right before I left for DL in Aug. The thing hasn't left my side since. DW isn't loving it much at all.

Howard - At least my 18-mile run will be flat. Boring as can be but totally flat. Enjoy the 20 miles in the home town.

Got in 4 miles this AM. Nothing special (9 mpm pace).

Getting a lot of flack at home for scheduling an 18-mile race the day of our anniversary. If I am reading this thread correctly I may be able to get out of this mess if I lug some heavy equipment around the house on Saturday. Yard work might work too.

Lou

Louser-in-the-dog-house - Sheesh, you scheduled an "event" on your anniversary??? OK, damage control...here's what you do. Saturday night is a SERIOUS date night, but an early one. After the race on Sunday take her & the kids to brunch somewhere. And remember BUY A CARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe give THAT to her on Sat. night saying how much you appreciate her understanding your wanting to run...blah, blah, blah. You know where I'm going with this...anyway, a card is tantamount to the success of this mission. Heck, get her TWO cards, one for Sat. night, then one for Sun. a.m. when she wakes up (probably long after you've gone to your race). Ladies, am I right on this one??popcorn::

Hi all you other non-posting BOTS

I ran 3 today which was supposed to be 6 but got cut short 'cause I had to run out & meet the "lady" to get all the t-shirts for my son's fundraising run on Sat. We've got great weather on tap! Thanks for the "no rain" dance, Lou.

OK, this week really SUCKS! DD9 was sick ALL NIGHT  with an incessant cough. She finally got to sleep (sort of) around 2:30, but guess who finally went back to my own bed around 3:00 but could still hear her hacking up a lung all night.:sad2:

So no exercising for me today as I was attending to a sick youngling. It was cold, rainy, cloudy and blue all day today. :sad2:

Hopefully she will be better tonight, I'm exhausted.

For those of you who may not be entered in Philly yet... 425 marathon spots left, 175 half spots... There have been over 700 marathoners entries accepted in the past 6 days, so I suspect these last few hundred spots will go pretty quickly.

ok, you scared me with the numbers... DH is on the other computer signing up as we speak.

now to find a sitter for DD5

I'll try the card route but I think I'll need more than that. I may need to try Howard's dancing lessons. :lmao: What really stinks is DD is sleeping over a friend's on Saturday. I expect we'll get DS to sleep over in-laws house. So we have the night to ourselves. I did book dinner in A.C. so I do have that covered. It will be a long lonely drive to LBI on Sunday morning.

Lou~ Good luck with that one! Dance Lessons might be a good idea for a long term solution to the running syndrome you (and we all) have. :thumbsup2 Happy Anniversary!

I got home from work late due to an errand I had to run for DS15. So, it was getting dark when I got home and I just didn't feel like running tonight. I know, shame on me. I will make up for it this weekend and probably do some miles tomorrow night after work.

The 20 miler this weekend is looming. I am looking forward to getting it in the bag so I can move on. MCM is right around the corner and I have to be ready!

Colleen~ I hope you and your DD can get some rest tonight.

Have a wonderful (restful) night all!

Greetings Everyone: I ran yesterday. Nothing great. I did 30 min on the TM. I set it on 6.0 mph (10 min miles) to force myself to take it really slow and easy. My right leg hurt a little throughout the run - hip down to my knee felt really tight. I took time to do a lot of stretching afterwards. Today I feel OK.

Hello all;

I've got nothing to post, just wanted to wish everyone a happy Thursday :grouphug: .

I'm sick:sick:

This totally sucks - terrible timing. It seems to be just a head cold, so I still intend on running, although I don't think its going to be pretty. Did 6 recovery miles this morning and my 11+ minute miles felt a lot faster than that:sad2:

Over the next three days, I've got 12 (w/ 7 at tempo), 5, and 20. Should be fun.

More later. Work sucks.

Ah Cindy, you must be sick, I can tell b/c you are writing in two word sentences.:rotfl: Seriously, I hope you feel better, please take time to rest, those extra miles this week really don't matter as much as a healthy body matters.:thumbsup2

Jodi, Happy Thursday!!:cool1:  :yay: :dance3: :woohoo: :cool1: :dance3:

Today, I am busy trying to dig a hole in my backyard for the money I have left in my investments.:rolleyes1

OH PLEASE!! Don't even get me started!! Retirement??? What's that??

CindyFlu - I hope you feel better, forget about running & get better, missy!! That's an order!

ThetaWench - How's your little one?

ThetaWench - How's your little one?

Sick again today, but she is looking better.

DH brought her some McDonalds food for lunch. Funny thing, my kids only get McD's when they are sick.:rotfl: Why is that statement just SO wrong?!?:lmao:

Sorry I've been pretty much MIA this week. Our furnace/AC died so it's been repair/replace?, schedule 5 companies to come give estimates, research products, blah, blah blah.

Jen - I have the Autumn Wreath candle burning in my office now. Good stuff.
Lou, good thing you're comfortable enough with your masculinity to be A COMPLETE GIRL!!!! Yikes!

Good luck with smoothing things over with the wife and the race bit.

Oh, and I've gotta ask. Philly elected a Mayor named Nutter?? They've got problems with people wearing running shorts but will pick a dude named Nutter to run the city? Odd bunch.

Jen - Welcome. Just know what you've gotten yourself in for by joining the merry little band of yahoos.

Colleen - Sorry your little one is sick. I hope she feels better soon.

As for retirement, I saw a commercial for ING telling me what a good deal their company gives for stock trades so I sold everything and put it in the market 2 weeks ago so I'm all set.:thumbsup2

Dave - Glad you are enjoying the new toy. I have a cheepo pay as you go cell phone that I hardly ever carry and don't even know the number for. Not that I'm completely Amish or anything but I could just go all Jodi on the idiots that walk up and down the grocery aisles (sp?) telling some phantom shopper on the other end what they see. HAVE SOMEONE MAKE YOU A DAMN LIST OR DECIDE FOR YOURSELF YOU LOOSER!!! O.K., I'm better now.

Sara - Still no comment about the previous conversation.

Cindy - Sorry you are sick. I'd tell you to give your body a bit of a reprieve but you won't listen so maybe you'll try Plan B. Drink lots of beer. It probably won't help the cold, but who cares.

You asked me days ago if I have a 20 miler this weekend. No. This is actually a step-back week. Nothing more than 8 on the schedule. Makes no sense, but who am I to argue? For what it's worth, I think I do have 3 20's before Philly though. Ughh.

Howard - Best of luck to you with the 20 this weekend. I'm sure it will be just fine.

Jodi - Jeeze, it seems like I had something witty to say to you but I'm all tuckered out from all this typing. Maybe next post.

Hey! to everyone else out there.

Let's see, what have I been up to? Monday, went on a great 3 mile walk with Kathy. Tuesday, 6 pretty darn speedy miles in circles at DDS' soccer practices. Wednesday, 9 decent miles.

Today was a great XT day. Our anniversary was Monday and instead of going out for dinner Kathy suggested we go hiking. So today we went out to the Shenandoah National Park and hiked up Old Rag Mountain. It was a 7.7 mile loop up to about 3,300 ft up some very challenging terrain and rock scrambles and took us almost 6 hours. The weather was great, the views were spectacular, and it was a lot of work. The only downside was that Kathy turned her ankle really badly on the the way down but still managed to gut out the 4+ miles back to the van. She 'aint feeling so great now though so we'll see what tomorrow holds.

Oh, and I actually registered for Philly tonight. Ya'll were making me nervous with the numbers.
