Tony Romo is a tool :rotfl2: .
I couldn't agree more:lmao: It kills me when my precious little angels want to sport Cowboys gear:laughing: Glad you're feeling the running love these days:hippie: .

Mike - I hope the 12 were kind to you this morning:banana: .

Lou - :scared1: :scared: I can't even comment on the Eagles paraphernalia but thanks so much for making me :rotfl:.

Colleen - Are you feeling better:hug: ? I may have the same thing going on because I still feel hungover and haven't run in 3 days (I am going to run after work no matter what...). Rest and take care of yourself:wizard:

Cindy - Thinking of you and hoping your travels are going well:hug: .

No clue as to what I'm planning for a LR this weekend and may just bag the whole thing:confused3 . Hoping I still have enough energy left at 5:30 tonight to get a few miles inpopcorn:: . I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend:grouphug:

I must have missed this....did she go somewhere??:confused3 BTW, how come you're not running the Disney marathon?
CindyLou is traveling for business this week. I am not running WDW next year because I have severe arthritis in my knee and will get much more out of volunteering for the full as opposed to pounding pavement for 26.2 miles:rotfl: I really don't know if I'll ever be capable, physically, of running 26.2 again but if I am then I'd prefer it to be a race I've never run before, KWIMpopcorn:: . I may try to do the full in Philly or train for a spring marathon, but not WDW. I am looking forward to spending the weekend with WISH'ers without even having to do all of that training nonsense in the late fall & winter on the treadmill:woohoo: .

Blah today again.

I had planned to get 12 in this morning but it didn't happen. I went to the local Humane Society to look at the dogs. No puppy in the house, DH will be happy.

Ceci - It's even ok if you don't run in Philly...you could just hang out on the sidelines & smack those blow-up things together to make noise! Seriously, do you think the achilles is going to be ok?

Jodi: I'm really going to try and train for the Philly half. If the training makes me feel like someone has taken those blow-up things and smacked me in my heel, then I may have to cheerlead, tend to my WISH-buds pre-race, sherpa your gear, whatever.

Of course, if I go all the way to Philly and I can't run, my depression may lead me to be several Bloody Marys and/or screwdrivers into the day by race start, so don't leave anything with me you may actually want to see again. :rolleyes1 I'll just do my best to take some in-focus photos of you guys.

Colleen: Holy Cr@&! If I went to the humane society every time I bagged a workout my house would look like one owned by one of those "Crazy Cat Ladies". :lmao:

Hey, what will you title this thread after the Philly Marathon has passed? popcorn::

Sorry you still feel like turds. Oooooh, the Humane Society...my husband floors it when we drive by there. I've been known to bring several strays home over the years :rolleyes1 . Adopt a dog :yay: :woohoo: YAY!

I'm glad you'll be there no matter what. You can hang out on the sidelines w/ Bruce if you don't run & drink lots 'o Guinness :thumbsup2 .

Good Morning Teammates: Sorry I haven't been around much lately. The new job has been keeping me very busy. I'm doing a little "mini-taper" this week because I'm running the Rochester Half Marathon tomorrow. So I have some time to post this morning - because my body's used to waking up early.

OK, I never told people why I could sign up for the Philly Marathon. Well, my new job is at a state university, and we are subject to the state budget as set by the government. New York state is having a horrible budget year with lots of budget cuts. In fact, I got my job right before a state hiring freeze. So, I'm the director of the Teaching and Learning Center at SUNY/Geneseo, and our budget was cut dramatically. Leaving very little money for travel to meetings. No money to travel to meetings, means I can't go to the conference in November that conflicted with Philly, which means I'm in for Philly. Now I just need to ramp up my training.

Jodi- I'm getting really excited for the Yeti. I'm also very excited for my adult weekend in WDW with my DW. I probably won't participate in a lot of WISH meet things because I want to spend time with DW. Although, I do want to meet up with you, Cindy, and Chester for the start of the race. Yes, I have a ticket for DW to come to the after-party after the race. So I'm hoping she'll want to come to that. She gets a little bored standing around for my races - so I hope she's into it. I'm coming in on Tuesday 9/23 for my conference. I'm not sure when I'm going to the expo. I want to go quickly, run in, grab my stuff, and get out. Friday, I want to spend with DW going to the F&W festival booths for our dinner. And no, I haven't gotten one clue yet... although, I think I figured out the 3rd one we just got.

How's your training going? I've been having a hard time squeezing in weekday runs with my new job. I have a 40 minute commute now that I didn't have before, and I need to figure out when I can run.

Jodi- You asked about my Dad a while back. He's doing OK, not great, but OK. Tuesday was a year since my Mom passed away. I think Dad's OK with that, but he's developing some odd behaviors from living on his own. I think that transition has been hard for him. I wanted him to come up to Philly for the marathon, but right now he says he can't. I'm kind of bummed about that.

SiverSteve- Your Yoda quote cracks me up. WISHing you well for the achilles, and I hope you can run at Philly.

Colleen- I'm really impressed with how your sticking to your walking schedule. WTG! I know you missed your 12 miler, but you've been doing great.

Hi Sara- I wasn't giving you a hard time really about not signing up for Philly. I certainly know whay you haven't done it. I think it's great that you're still planning on going down to WDW for marathon weekend to volunteer. That sounds like a ton of fun. Hope your knee is doing OK. My wife has been diagnosed with arthritis in her knees as well.

Mike- Thanks for asking about the new job. It's going really well. I like it, and my colleagues are so welcoming and helpful. I'm the director of the teaching and learning center on campus. So I work with other professors to support their teaching. I'm supposed to plan workshops on teaching, plan the new faculty orientation, etc. I already planned a series of "brown bag" discussions on using technology in the classroom. How 'bout those Browns? I'm excited for Sunday night.

Lou- I have to admit that I never was an Eagles hater either. That was always reserved for the Brownies (sorry Mike). I guess since the Steelers and Eagles are in different conferences, they never developed a lot of history with each other. I really like McNabb - good ole Syracuse alum. I think he gets a bum rap in Philly. So are we getting cheesesteaks after the marathon? Or is that prerace carbo loading?

Chester- I loved the DL 1/2 marathon report. Great time. Congrats on the 10:00mpm pace! That's awesome. I will definitely see you at the Everest race. I love Fort Wilderness. You have fun there.

Howard- I never congratulated you for your incredible 5 miler the other day. WTG on 5 miles under 8:00 mpm pace. Very impressive!

OK, I'm going to to go. Have a great weekend everyone, and good luck on those long runs.

Mike - Have fun with the 12 miles.

Jodi - Love the names! I'm wondering how many you can come up with.

Sara - May be better to plan for full in the spring. Gives the knee more time and more likely to get nice cool weather. I am struggling to train for these fulls on my bad knee in this heat/humidity.

Colleen - I avoid those humane societies like the plague. My DW is a crazy cat lady. We have 3 cats...one was a stray she found at work and the other 2 showed up as kittens on our deck one morning and never left.

Dave - If I had a #2 team it would be the Steelers. I grew up in Delaware County, PA and so the Sunday AFC games were almost always the Steelers. In fact during the 70's it was hard not to like the Steelers and Raiders.

Got in 15 miles this morning. What happened to the cool weather??? Had to be one of the stickiest humid days in a long while. I was dripping wet by Mile 3. Needed 28 oz of water, 2 PowerGels, and 1 Clif Shot Block to make it. My knee doesn't feel that great right now but I think I'll be fine for the PDR if I take it real easy this week.

Gotta go to a book launch party today at 3PM. My sister just published her first of a series of three books (young adult). It's kind of exciting. You can check out the book here...http://www.dianarodriguezwallach.com/

Lou

Hi all - I'm back! I got home after midnight last night after a LONG delay at the Kansas City airport, including a trip to the tornado shelter! (Which, btw, just means that the airport police made us stand in the middle of the underground parking garage) Looks like you've been a bit more chatty since I've been gone. I'll catch up later today and post more.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Hey Philly&someYetiBots!

Cindy - Welcome home, sounds like your trip was a bit exciting there! Tornado shelters in the garage, eh? THAT sounds safe. Yeti is just around the corner, I'm too pumped! How's your running & chest?:rotfl:

BaLou - I can go on & on with this crap ;) . Nice job on that 15 miles! I don't know what happened to that cool weather but today sucks! And tomorrow it's supposed be like, 85, what the heck? Doesn't Earl know we're trying to train for a marathon here? Your sister's publishing a book? Dude, that is TOOOOO cool! I'll definitely buy it!

Davey - Glad you're enjoying your new job, that's so important! Your DW, is it Dana?, better come watch you run...do I need to make a phone call?:rolleyes1 ;) . It's gonna be a blast, she won't have to stand around for long, it's only a 5k!!! Glad your dad's doing well. I was hoping he'd be in Philly, tell him we all wanna see him! That year went by fast...

Hope all my other "friends" :grouphug: are having a good weekend! I ran 6 miles this a.m. & it felt ok but it's really nasty & humid. That's all I have to say.

Steve - Welcome Back! Sorry to hear that the achilles is still bothering you.

Mike
- I think the MCM 10K did fill last year, but I'm not positive. Just register!

Lou - I'm glad to hear that your knee is feeling a bit better. I hear you on the heat and humidity - it's gross here. Have fun at the book party!

Sara - How is your DD feeling? Glad to hear that you also survived your travels.

Colleen
- In response to your Q a few pages back, I'm doing the Goofy, but I don't have flights or a hotel yet (I suppose I should do something about that). I'm up for any get togethers!

Howard - a belated congrats on your best 5 miles!

Chester
- Congrats on your PR and congrats to Tracy on finishing her first half - that's great. I'll see you soon at the Yeti!

Dave
- I'm glad to hear that your new job is going well. Good luck on the half tomorrow! Make sure to let us know how it goes.

Jodi, Dave and Chester - I am not arriving in Orlando until the morning of the Yeti and guess i will go get my packet as soon as we check into the hotel (staying at AKL - I'm really excited about that, I've never stayed there before). I definitely want to meet up before the race and for a bit during the after party. Jodi, are you planning on staying for any of it?

I need to get in a 5 mile recovery run today. It's already gross outside, so this should go well.:rolleyes1 I have to run 20 tomorrow:scared1: I'm really not looking forward to it. It's supposed to get up to 95 degrees tomorrow. Great.

My chest muscle injury is 100% better I would say. I'm getting the miles in for my runs, but I think I've lost that lovin' feelin'. Nothing has felt right since I got back from vacation. My best run was still the 8 miler that I ran when my chest muscle was killing me. I don't know what my problem is.:confused3

This past week, I was actually only traveling on Thursday and Friday, but there was a conference at my office earlier in the week, and I had to go to all of these stupid events with clients, so I was crazy busy and my schedule was all out of whack. I ran 12 on Tuesday, 11 on Wednesday (that was supposed to include 6 tempo miles, but I could only manage 5), and 6 miles yesterday morning on the crappiest treadmill I've ever seen at the hotel in Kansas City (my first treadmill run since March at a hotel in NYC). Assuming I manage to get through today's 5 miler and tomorrow's 20, that will be 54 miles for the week - my highest week ever:scared1:

Hey Phillabusters!

Cindy - Welcome back. Hopefully you're reading this after your 20 miler or else you're getting out way too late since it's going to be hotter than Jodi in a bathrooom with no TP.

I'm super impressed at how dedicated you've been getting all your runs in.

I'll have to decide about the MCM 10K in the next couple of days.

Lou - Excellent job getting the 15 miles in with a less than perfect knee. And for what it's worth, I'm with Jodi. You can nibble on some snacks the night before Philly but I'd like to EAT! Make some plans Bud.

Hey, what will you title this thread after the Philly Marathon has passed? popcorn::
Stevie - I think we are forever destined to have the Philly thread since Colleen forgot her Princess Mama login and can't edit the thread! BTW, I'm thinking maybe you should be well into a few Bloody Mary's/screwdrivers even if you are running the half at Philly. That'd be fun to watch.

Colleen - I guess I'm the only one that thinks a dog is way more of a pain than it's worth (an opinion developed by the fact that our dog was a mean little SOB and I have some allergy problems).

Also to belated answer your WDW question: We (meaning Kathy) haven't formalized any travel plans yet but we are shooting for a Thursday arrival and Tuesday departure. We've stayed at Pop the last 2 years and may again unless there's a better deal out there.

Dave - Good luck with/how was the Rochester Half? And BTW, what's with the holding out info about a big race?? We'd tell you if we were running a half marathon!

Sara - It sounds like a well thought out plan of saving your marathon miles for a new race vs. running WDW. The bulk of the fun is just being with everyone else. The race is just incidental.

Jodi - It's fun to see how excited you are about the Yeti!

You know how sometimes the airlines just use the same plane for the return trip? Maybe you could land, go run the 5K and make it back to the airport in time to catch the same plane before they refuel or restock the little bottles of vodka or whatever they do:thumbsup2 .

Well, here's my saga of running woes. Friday's 12 turned into 10 but was really 6. ???:confused3

My legs have been feeling pretty achey during and after each run for a couple of weeks. I figured it was just getting back into shape. I even bought a new pair of shoes this week just in case. Well, my left quad down near my knee was bothering me more and more as I ran Friday. I finally decided around mile 6 that I should follow Howard's lead and stop and stretch a bit. It didn't really help so I decided to just bag the rest of the run and not do any more damage. Unfortunately, 6 miles into a 12 mile loop leaves you a long way from home! I took a few shortcuts and kinda wogged the 4 miles home.

I'll try to play it smart over the next few days and hope it gets better.

Hell, if I don't get some decent LR's soon I may end up staggering a drunken half with Chick Pea in Philly!

Cindy - Welcome back. Hopefully you're reading this after your 20 miler or else you're getting out way too late since it's going to be hotter than Jodi in a bathrooom with no TP.

Just getting ready to go out actually! I'm really dreading this.

Sorry to hear about your leg. Hopefully it starts to feel better soon.

Good luck on your 20 miler Cindy. Wow, what training plan are you on? I'm feeling really behind.

I'm waking up and fueling up for my half-marathon. Thanks for the good wishes everyone.

I did it! and it wasn't as bad as I had feared, so I will consider that a victory. In fact, given the fact that it was already disgusting, hot, and humid when I started the run - even though it was still dark out - I might even say that it went well. And I came home not hating running - also a huge victory.

Dave
- I'm guessing you are done with the race by now, I hope it went well! I am using a plan from the Advanced Marathoning book by Pete Pfitzinger and some other guy. It's a much higher mileage plan than I did for my last 2 marathons, but I really felt that I needed that, given how badly I fell apart during my last 2 marathons. The highest mileage week is 55 miles, so this week (that I just finished) of 54 is the second highest. It's a nice feeling to have accomplished that.

Just getting ready to go out actually! I'm really dreading this.

Oh Cindy, that is amazing. :worship: Great job on your 20! It is over 90 degrees and a zillion % humidity out there this morning in NC. I was thinking about walking my 12 miles today, but not in that weather, I will wait until tomorrow morning when the kids are in school.

Mike, sorry about the aches and pains. Get better my friend!

Cindy - Welcome back and congrats on the 20 miles!

Mike - Sorry about the bad 12 mile run. I kind of felt the same way yesterday and should have done the same thing and bailed.

Dave - Goog luck on your race!

My knee is REALLY bad. After my LR yesterday the knee got worse and worse. I limped around Philly last night...barely able to climb steps and even walk off a curb. I never should have run 15 miles on it. Well, I'm not sure what I am going to do now. I figure I am going to have to take off all week and I can see if I can run on Sunday for the PDR. I'm probably 50/50 for this PDR.

My bigger fear is that I really damaged something this time. Hopefully rest, ice, and Motrin will heal it because I really want to run the races I have scheduled. May just have to bag LR's for the rest of this year and just show up for races from here on out. We'll see.

Lou

Lou - and loads of :wizard: for your knee. Definitely take the entire week off and see what the PDR brings for you.

Colleen - I am wondering why it is hotter here today in NY than it was in TN earlier this week:scared: . No way was I running either but I did bike for over an hour and I'll get some yoga and/or weights in tonight. I guess that means a pre-dawn run for me in the a.m. . Good luck with yours in the a.m as well:yay: .

Cindy - :worship: :worship: :worship: Congrats on the 20 miles!! Definitely a huge victory for you:banana: .

Dave - I hope you had an awesome race experience today:cheer2: . We had the Lake George Tri locally and it was pouring this morning and then hot & humid so I was thinking of you and hoping you had better conditions for your 1/2. Anxiously awaiting the reportpopcorn::

Mike - and loads of :wizard: for your quad ailment as well!! Glad you decided to be smart about it and bag the run. Take it easy and hopefully a bit of rest will do the trick for you:thumbsup2

I haven't run since TUESDAY in Chicago:scared1: and that's quite a long time for me. I can't bring myself to get on the TM in the a.m. and hate that it's getting light so late. Hopefully this week I can run after work:hippie: . I am still considering the full in November as long as Colleen is going to walk itpopcorn:: . Have an awesome week guys:grouphug:
