Dave - Welcome back. I haven't seen you on the thread in a while. The interviews sound exhausting. Your description sounded like a scene from Office Space. Good luck!

Howard - Must be exciting to see the light at the end of MBA program tunnel. Here's an early congrats for tackling the program and still getting your runs in. I saw a U of DE QB was drafted in the 1st round yesterday.

Cindy - Nice job with the 20 mile LR. Hopefully the heat wasn't too bad.

Chester - Hope you had fun at WDW this weekend. I'm jealous.

Sara - Great job on the LR and nice splits!

Steve - Sorry about the bum achilles. Better take some time off to rest it because that's not an injury you want to mess with. I'd go easy and make sure you get to the 25K injury free.

Jodi - How do you top the ultra? What's next on your racing agenda?

Hello Mike, Colleen, Anne, and anyone else I may have missed.

I was very jammed up this week with work so I wasn't able to get on the boards the last few days. I did have a fairly active week though. I got in 3-mile and 4-mile runs during the week. Played my first round of golf in 2 years at a golf outing for a local chamber of commerce. I actually shot a 96 which was the best round in my foursome of weak golfers. I decided to take a 15-mile bike ride yesterday through the trails in my neighborhood. Lastly, I kicked in a little 8-mile mini LR today.

Next Sunday I'll run the Broad St Run in Philly. It's a 10-mile run that starts around Temple University and runs south on Broad Street to the Phila Navy Yard. They say it's the fastest 10-mile race in the USA...10 miles straight down a road this is mostly flat. It will be a nice race as lots of Philly locals will be running it. I'm looking to try to finish in under 75 minutes (7:30 pace).

Have a nice week!!

Let's go FLYERS!!! Let's go SIXERS!!! The City of Brotherly is living large right now.

Lou

Cindy
I'm looking forward to next weekend too. Are you going to be at the Saturday W.I.S.H. meet?

No, I'm not going to be able to make it. I will be with my sister and we haven't been to WDW in over 5 years! (I seriously can't believe its been that long) She will only have a 2 day park ticket, so she would kill me if I suggested leaving the parks to go to the WISH meet. (We also have an ADR in MGM at 6).

Mike - Where have you run off to?

Lou - Good luck on the Broad Street Run! That is definitely one I want to do some day.

Steve - I hope the achilles starts to feel better. As for the podcasts, I listened to the this week's DIS Unplugged roundtable and email shows; some NPR news show (trying to pretend like I'm smart); and an episode of Real Time with Bill Maher.

Julie - I hope your toes feel better:wizard:

Dave - l hope your life calms down some. It sounds like you really did need some rest. It's really hard to squeeze in runs when your schedule is nothing close to normal.

Sara - I hope your leg is still ok!

Colleen - :wave2:

Wedding was fun. My knees were really sore last night so my dancing (not that I am the best dancer to begin with) was of the stiff legged variety. Rest day (errands day) for me today. My knees are actually feeling fine today - I feel like I could have run if I had to.

My knees were really sore last night so my dancing (not that I am the best dancer to begin with) was of the stiff legged variety.

Dancing?!?!? What's that? I can't remember the last time I have been dancing, maybe my wedding!

Sara, yes, in 2 months we will be sipping on something cold and alcoholic!:thumbsup2

Lou, wow, a 7:30 pace for a 10 miler, that is awesome!

Jodo-do, toes still sore, eh? Epson salts in a warm bath!:thumbsup2

Steve, sore achilles?? Epson salts in a warm bath!:)

Dave, wow, sounds like you really had a full week! I hope your interviews went well.:wizard:

Mikey, what's shakin'? Races for me, heck no! I am freaking out now that I entered the NYC marathon lottery. What the heck was I thinking? I really hope I don't get in. :sad2:

Chester, so the Ark is making another trek? Sorry I didn't get to see it last time.

Howard, good luck next weekend. I will thinking about all you lucky ducks heading down for Minnie.

Not much for me to report. Same old, same old, walk a little, yoga a little, eat a lot!

Howdy Everyone: Thanks for the advice and encouragement that it was OK not to run yesterday. I've been feeling guilty for missing so many runs. I went for a run this morning on the TM in the gym. I felt great and did 4 miles while listening to the DIS Unplugged Podcast. I was cruising right along, and it seemed very easy. I did my first mile at 10 mpm pace, and bumped the speed of the TM up a notch every mile. Regarding the Philly Marathon, has anyone (besides Howard) registered? Has anyone booked rooms at the Embassy Suites? I need to get on that.

I e-mailed the chair of the search committee this morning to thank them for having me in on Thursday to talk with everyone about the job, and here's the reply I got back from her.

From what I've heard informally, things went well (I'm sorry I wasn't
able to be here). The search committee is meeting tomorrow
afternoon--and if there is anything anyone wants, I'll certainly let you
know.

So I'm in a waiting game now, and trying so hard to be patient.

Lou- Best of luck with the Broad Street 10 miler. Wow, 7:30 mpm pace - you go!!! Looks like Mike has some company. Oh I have to say Go Penguins!!! Especially since the Flyers stole all of the Buffalo Sabre's players.

Colleen- I think you and I have been in the same boat too. I was doing tons of "stress eating" last week. I had dinner by myself at Applebees on Friday night (during my conference at Ithaca), and I had the "Ultimate Trios" dinner. It's essentially an all appetizer dinner, and there was not one veggie on my plate. Everything was fried and everything was sooooo yummy. It was topped off by a hot fudge sundae of course.

Cindy- Dancing at a wedding after a 20 mile run? Wow, I don't think I'm going to be able to keep up with you at Philly either.

Jodi- What's up with your ugly feet? Are your shoes the right size?

Steve- I hope your Achille's is feeling better soon. Have you done any pool running? The water might help it out some. Good luck.

Sounds promising! :wizard:

Weekends in May are going to be busy. The 3rd and 4th will be the Minnie 5k and 15k. The 10th will be the Muddy Buddy. and the 17th and 18 will be the Florida State Soccer Championships in Pensacola.

Super Goalie Miranda and her Teammates won their round of 16 game 4 to 1 and then won their round of 8 game 7 to 1. They will now finish no less than 4th in the State. Tracy and I are very proud of her and the Team.

Jodi
This weeks LR was an Easy Eight. About 2 miles in I assisted in locating a little lost Yorkie. I started getting bored about 3/4 of the way through and got Happy Feet. I ended up averaging a higher HR than I intended. No aches, pains or blisters to report. I guess it's time to start the Minnie taper.

Cindy
After Saturdays 20 miler, the Minnie 15k will be easy - if the blisters don't retailiate. Have a safe trip down with your Sister. Maybe I'll see you on the course. I plan on keeping pace with Tracy unless the sweepers threaten. Once in jeopardy of being swept, I'll hit the afterburners and try to weave my way through the traffic.

Sara
Miranda's team is going to the State Championships. The only thing that is bumming her out is that her junior prom is scheduled for the same Saturday. The game is at 1:30 pm and Pensacola is 8 hours away.:guilty:

Dave
It's Monday. Get back to training!!!!.

Steve
Good luck training for next months 25k trail run. Do you typically run trails for your usual training? Do you run in trail specific shoes?

Lou
I can't even imagine the effort required to maintain a 7:30 pace for 10 miles. I can't even hit a 7:30 for 1 mile. Good luck with your attempt on Sunday.

Colleen
The Ark will be making the trip to Orlando 2 weeks in a row. I need to get a second job to pay for the gas (and it's only 100 miles each way).:rotfl:

Happy Monday to all!!!!

Cindy & Chester - You guys SUCK! I can't believe you're going to Minnie without me? Isn't there a law or something? :lmao: Have a great time you two! And Chester, good to know that chivalry's not dead & you will be leaving Tracy in the dust as not to get swept :thumbsup2 . NICE!:rotfl2: . And Cindy, I'm so excited for you & your sister!:yay: First time @ Disney in 5 years??? I'm sure there's a couple cool new things to do!! OH, Chester, Congrats to DD!!! That's impressive!! :cheer2: :cheer2: And tell her that there's always SENIOR PROM!!

Mike - Apparently the authorities have caught up with you...any chance you can work a computer through a straight jacket? :confused3

Colleen - Don't sweat NYC, you can always defer to next year, when I'll DEFINTELY BE THERE!! Keep your CanadianUnionSuit on!! :rotfl:

Dave - Nice feedback from the interview!!:woohoo: :thumbsup2 I'm hoping the best comes to you...and BTW, my ugly feet are much better, thank-you-very-much!! I may be able to run tomorrow. Congrats on YOUR running w/o hip pain!!

Lou - Terrific goal!!:thumbsup2 I don't think I can even drive that fast!! .

So if it's not raining I'll see how my tootsies are in the a.m. & run. Anyone check out the SteamBOaT Springs run in CO? Looks real cool, all downhill! You take a Gondola to the top of a mountain where the start is :thumbsup2 That's what I'M talking about. Also, has anyone else ever thought of running the Alaska Midnight RUn marathon?? I'd have to start saving for that about 2 years out  , just wondering if any Bots are interested :confused3 . But we're all still on the PHilly Page & VA Beach marathon in March 09, right? Who is going to be in Disney in Jan '09?

Yes, yes, and yes...

I'm definitely running Philly this year. Has anyone signed up? Did anyone reserve a room at Embassy Suites? That's the race I'm shooting for. I doubt I can do both Philly and Disney w/o DW wanting to shoot me. Where did the VA Beach Marathon come from? I don't remember that discussion (although I have been gone a while. The Alaska Midnight Run sounds awesome. I'd love to do that one. I can save my pennies for that one.

Other races I'd like to do sometime:
Maui or Honolulu
Chicago Marathon
LA Marathon
Lake Tahoe Marathon
London
Paris
Boston
Something in Africa - Kenya or something like that

Intruder Alert

I'm just jumping in to say hello to my friends. You guys are most impressive gearing up big time mentally and physically for Philadelphia.

Colleen

How are the legs? I read very little of the thread, so I didn't see if you were having more or less trouble with the alignment. I hope you are well, and I look forward to being able to sit with you after another race, since I so enjoyed those minutes of commiseration on January 13.

MSWDave

Positive waves to you about the interview and news from the search committee.

Sarah

I hope you are well (as well). Like Colleen, the last I saw you was out on the course on January 13, and at the finish. I trust you've recovered fully, both physically and mentally. I hope November in Philadelphia is cooler, heck, it was to be.

Mike

Is that the Optimator Mike? I trust you're clipping along as fast as always.

So after parachuting in, I'll parachute out. Good luck to all of you. I'd love to throw in you you all in November, but my fall 2008 will be pretty crazy, so I'll let you all train, pain, and glory in you accomplishment.

Craig

Sorry Guys! Between work, runs, a little sleep, and DD using the computer for a project I missed a few days.

Impossible for me to get completely caught up, but I'll try.

Cindy - Congrats on the 20 miler. It was some kind of warm, wasn't it. Good prep for Minnie I guess.

Maybe you can YouTube some of the stiff-legged wedding dance?

Colleen - Hoping you won't get into NYC almost guarantees you're making the trip this year. Better start training soon.

Sara - Good to hear you had a relatively pain-free run. I hope it continues.

Dave - The interview feedback sound promising. I'm really sorry to hear you won't be making the trip to Cleveland. I was looking forward to seeing you again.

I have not registered for Philly yet but have made ressies at Embassy Suites for Saturday night. Lou's gonna hook us up for dinner Saturday (Right, Lou?).

Lou - That's a smokin' pace for Broad Street. I could probably put a couple of those together but don't think I could do 10. I'm sure you'll get it!

Chester - Congrats to Miranda! Sorry about Jr. Prom. I remember WAY BACK to my Jr. Prom. We had a baseball game the same evening. I think most of us were thinking more about illegal beverage purchases and general debauchery than baseball. We got creamed!

The other memory that stands out was the guy that rerouted his windshield washer squirter into the cab of his pickup truck, filled the tank with beer and viola! Flip the switch, fill your mug! It got a little foamy after an off-road excursion (maybe induced by a previously filled mug) but you gotta love the effort.

Have fun at Minnie! Make sure my lovely wife doesn't get into too much trouble.

Jodo - Happy to hear your footsies are getting better.

You know, you could quit bellyaching about everyone else going to run Minnie this weekend and make a last minute trip down. Tracy will probably need all the support she can get after Chester tosses her to the curb.

Alright, spill the beans. Where does the dodo come from?

Howard - You're almost done buddy! I'm sure the time has gone faster for me than you, but it seems like you were just starting the semester.

Please tell Cam I said hello.

Craig - Nice to see you pop in. Good luck at Minnie this weekend!

What else? Oh yeah, I ran 16 miles Saturday. Let's just say it was not pretty and leave it at that. I guess I needed a good dose of reality since I've been having mostly good runs lately.

I had played softball Friday night for the first time since last July and used some muscles that hadn't been bothered for a while so that may have had something to do with it.

Plus, I had this weird pain in my... well, I've been to enough child birthing classes to know where the Kegel muscles are on you ladies (I'm guessing us dudes have a similar muscle but in a slightly different location:confused: ). So, it hurt there. All better now, but WTH?

Does this mean I'm going to pee my pants every time I sneeze???

And Chester, good to know that chivalry's not dead & you will be leaving Tracy in the dust as not to get swept :thumbsup2 . NICE!:rotfl2: .

Sorry, but I'm not going to fall on a grenade just because Tracy wasn't able to train for Minnie. I'll be with her step for step until "being allowed to finish" is in jeopardy. I DNF'ed the 06 DL Half and didn't like it.

It would be the greatest accomplishment if I could finish 1 step behind her, but it's not likely to happen. Unfortunately, I don't think that I'm the best source of encouragement for her on course. I'm very supportive, but having sweepers on her tail is more effective.

Have a happy Tuesday!

Yeh, yeh, you just keep telling yourself that, Prince Charming!! Are you bringing white hankerchiefs to lay down for her in case there's mud on the course, too? :lmao: :rotfl2: .

But seriously, I wouldn't wait for anyone either...it's not like she gave birth to your children or anything...:rolleyes1 Ok, you're right, I actually have 2 kids, but traded 1 of them on ebay for a DL castle medal:rotfl2: :lmao:

But really, if the sistah didn't train she's gonna feel the pain:headache: .:rotfl: Tell her to put a nickel in it & let the sweepers have their way with her! Bruce would just shake his head @ me & tell me that I didn't train hard enough & that I'm "such a civilian"!

Just popping in to let people know it's Free Scoop Day today at Ben and Jerry's. Gotta fit that into your training...

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: - Okay, between Mike and Jodi I am dying here today! I'm off to the acupuncturist in a moment and I'm coming down with a cold:sick: so I am appreciative of the humor to keep my mind off the lack of mileage:thumbsup2 .

Dave - Thanks for the Ben & Jerry's reminder:banana: . Glad to hear you're getting good info on the job situation.

Craig - You can crash our party anytime:hug: . Good to "see" you and have a blast at the Minnie this weekend:cheer2: . Say :wave2: to Martha for us and travel safe!

Lou - Lots of :goodvibes for meeting your goal time this weekend:woohoo: . I can't wait for a race report and I'll be thinking of you:grouphug: . I met my goal time in a June '07 marathon for the sole fact that I told Colleen I would. I swear there was no other reason for it;) and I am eternally grateful.

Happy racing/training/tapering/travels to all this week:cheer2: .

Hi all. Just checking in. Work is a bit stressful right now, there were a number of lay-offs last week and everyone is just generally freaking out. While I don't believe that I am in any danger of being let go, there is a lot of pressure around here to bill more hours. So, once again (I'm sure I've posted this before:rolleyes: ) I am trying to stay focused and actually work while at work (at least this week since I'll be out on Friday). I'll catch up with everyone later.

Good luck with the stressful workplace Cindy. Like Jodi said, hang in there.

Colleen

Craig

Hi Craig!

Good to see you around these parts partner! I started a little part-time teaching/tutoring job at my kids school this semester and it has really cut into by blogging time to get over to the main thread. So nice to hear from you.:) Yes I remember commiserating with you at the end of the full, in fact, I also remember talking about how this might be our last full marathon.:rotfl: Well, my leg/hip/knee still isn't great, not running at all, but walking about 15-20 miles a week. I see you are signed up for Goofy. You go guy! Say hi to Martha. When do you leave on your overseas sojourn?

Mikey, our yes, since I don't want to run NYC marathon if Jodi doesn't get in, I will surely win a lottery spot. I can always defer to 2009, but it stings to lose the $155 entry fee this year if I defer.

Sara, I was extremely proud of you at Grandma's. Breaking 4:30 with the heat in Grandma's was very impressive.:flower3: Now get yourself well so you can do it again.

Cindy, take it easy girl! Things will work out. When are you leaving for Minnie?? I can't believe it is here already.

Mike, when does Kathy leave and when do your official parenting job start? You and the girls will bond like never before. When I am away for race weekends, Jeff and the kids have a GREAT time together. He is forced into being SUPERDAD for that weekend and he does do a great job.:thumbsup2

Dave, any running this week, any news on the job front?

Chester, congratulations to Miranda!! It is so wonderful to see our children be successful. I know you and Tracy are very proud of her!

Hey Lou and Steve!
