Dave, part of being a TEAM is to help each other through the good, the bad and the ugly times, and that's not just training. LIFE affects our training. A burden shared is a little lighter. Thanks for sharing :grouphug: .

Dave - Please don't ever feel you can't drop in just to vent, b**ch, moan, whine, whatever:hug: . We  you whether you're running 40 or 4 miles a week! So deeply sorry about your SBIL. Lots of :wizard: , thoughts and prayers going out to you and yours. What a terribly sad situation:sad1: .

Cindy - I hope your 12 race sim miles turned out wonderfully:banana: . My leg is killing me again. Perhaps DH can offer me some advice:lmao: . I've solicited advice from everyone else on the board so perhaps a new perspective would help me out as well:rotfl2: . I do hope it gets better for him and he is able to run the 1/2 with no ill effects.

Mike - Love the pic of you and Jodi:thumbsup2 . Thanks so much for sharing. Congrats for tacking the 20 miler and happy taper to you:banana: .

Cecilia - IIRC, Howard plans on running MCM and Colleen has a deferred bib from last year so there's always a chance she'll put her hat in the ring.

Colleen - :woohoo: Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I am sure once the weather improves and if the leg calms down I will try to increase mileage gradually but if that doesn't happen I have plenty of cross-training to keep me busy and well-conditioned.

Jodi - Like you told me with NYC, don't sweat having to bag Lake Placid if need be. I may not even be able to do a 1/2 at that point so I am not too overly committed. My running club buddies will be there anyway if I can run it (not that I'm looking to hang with anyone:rotfl: ). Still just playing it by ear at this point:headache: .

Chester & Steve x 2 - :wave2:

I put in 5 miles this morning on the TM. I planned on 8 but DD6 had other plans in mind for me. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Once I can get out on some dry roads I may be able to turn this thing around and dust off my Garmin:hippie: .

Happy training, tapering and racing to all this week:cheer2: !

Howard - Thanks for the Philly reminder. Like most people I will probably not register for a while.

Dave - Wow...that is a pretty deep post. I'm sorry about everything. Man, I hope things turn around for the better soon. Try to stay positive.

Cecilia - No MCM for me in 2008. It may be a possibility in 2009.

Mike and Jodi - Love the pic.

Chester, Cindy, Stevex2, Colleen , Sara and Everyone I missed - HI and Happpy St. Patty's Day!!!

I'm still dealing with the whole concept of "going out on my own". I haven't had a lot of spare time lately. Only managed to get in 3 miles during the week but did crank out 17 miles in Philly today. I decided to just go into the city today and run with no set agenda. Ran most of the 17 miles along the marathon course. With the exception of the wind it was a great day/run.

Lou

Colleen - It sounds like you are still putting in enough miles to keep a good base.:thumbsup2 (perhaps enough miles to decide to do the Minnie at the last minute;) )

:rotfl: Cindy, you gotta know that is always in the back of my mind.:thumbsup2 I just have to find a roommate.:confused3 And, yes, Mike, it will someone that I know, not just Tom, Dick, Harry or Mary online.:scared1:

Dave, very sad story about your SBIL.

Sara, 6 miles is good, very good!:thumbsup2

Thanks for picture Mike, that picture of you and Jodi looks very similar to the picture in Lou's siggie!;)

I have a little news at my end...I purchased our flights to Boston!!!:dance3: :dance3:Jeff is overseas for two weeks, last week Japan and this weekend he is in Germany. He ran 18.5 miles on the treadmill in the hotel in Frankfurt.:scared1: He said it was alright, but he had to break it down into three 10K sessions with about a 3 minute stretch break between each session. He did get in the steps so that is good b/c the marathon is in 5 weeks!

Happy Weekend DisBots....well, it's pretty much over now. Hi friends & JODI, wow, that hurt:sad1:

Mike - Love the picture....finally;) . Good thing I wasn't actually waiting on it. Anyhow people, just to clear up any misconceptions....well, every quote Mike posted was true...EXCEPT #3...I Did Not poop in the fountain! Not that I wouldn't have should the need have reared it's ugly head, so to speak:rotfl: . Soooo jealous you did 20 miles this weekend! Um, I only ran 6 yesterday & 4 today:lmao: . I think I'm running a race in like, 5 weeks, too.:confused3 Oh well. All done painting?

Dave - Wow, that's all I can say:hug: . I hope you can find some solace in running & spending some down time with the family. My thoughts are with you & yours...things'll get better, just try & ride this out as best you can. Good job on your run despite the crappy conditons:thumbsup2 .

Sara - The old leg's at it again, eh? What gives:confused3 Is it too much mileage @ a time, too much accumulative mileage in a week? Have you been able to @ least narrow it down to exactly what's firing it up?:headache: Hey, there's always the half @ Philly, so don't think you can use all this crap to ditch us!:rotfl2:

TheatWaves - HEY YOU! Are you really gonna try & go down to the Minnie & shack up with someone?:yay: That'll make for a nice youtube video:lmao: So I think the Boston marathon is the same weekend as my ultra:rolleyes1 , it's not so far awaypopcorn:: Ok, it is, forget it. :wizard: to what ails Jeff's leg/knee! He'll be fine..say hi to Lance for moi!

Cindy - Topiary, fountain, doesn't matter, I'll drop the drawers wherever I need to:lmao: Wait a minute, that doesn't sound to good, uh, Mike don't read that! NOBODY has worse jodistop issues than yours truly, perhaps your husband will find some comfort in that knowledge! How'd your Sims run go?

Cecilia - I hope you get to run MCM for your dad:love: , you'll be ready for Disney by Jan, no worries!

Lou - WOW, nice 17 miler:thumbsup2 WTG, dude. I hope the work scene is exciting, not just all stress...hang in there you entrepreneur!:dance3:

Chester & SteveS :confused3

As stated b4, I ran 6miles yesterday & 4 today...I know, I know, but LRs just aren't happening:rotfl: This is gonna be a really funny ultra, perhaps you'll even read about it in a future issue of Runner's World or the like "The Novice Who Didn't Train...And Paid The ULTIMATE Price" or some cheezy headline like that!:rotfl2: Actually, I am starting to get a little stressed about my lack of LRs, 14 miles is the longest since Disney:scared: Oh well!

Lou - :thumbsup2 nice job on the 17!

Sara - sorry to hear that your leg is bothering you again.

Colleen - I hope you get good weather for your trip to Boston (not like last year)!

Jodi - Wasn't your 14 like last week or something? Just throw a long run in next weekend and 2 weeks after that, and you should be fine

Did my 12 yesterday. Went better than expected. Got a bit tired towards the end, but was able to run the last 6 miles at an overall average pace of 9:20. The weather was great. I can only hope that we have the exact same weather for the race in 2 weeks. Ran 4 yucky miles today, but I'll blame that one entirely on my evening at the Irish pub last night.:drinking1

DH and I spent about an hour and a half at the local running store yesterday. He blames part of his leg issues on his shoes. He has been fitted for shoes about 7 or 8 times over the past 2 years and each time he has gotten different shoes and not been entirely happy with any of them. So yesterday he had one of the owners help him and explained what issues he has been having. This guy was really great. He gave DH some articles about stretching, fitted him for shoes, and fitted him for inserts. DH ran 5 miles on his new shoes yesterday and said he felt pretty good, except his hips felt tight:confused3 . He didn't run at all today, but that was because of the number of car bombs he consumed last night and not his knee/leg issues.

Hey McPhillinators.

Dave - I'm really sorry to hear of all the stresses in your life right now. No words here will help much but know that we are here to give what support we can. Keep your head up.

Sara - Alright, enough already. Time to cut that bum leg off and get a new one :rotfl: . Seriously, man I hope you start to get over all your pains once and for all.

Lou - Nice job on getting the LR in. Continued good luck getting the job up and going.

Cindy - Hey, way to go on the 12 miler. Nice pace! I hope the shoes/inserts work out for DH.

O.K., I'm just a naive young kid (alright, actually too old to know). What's this "car bomb" that did DH's run in? First Colleen's kicking cats, now someone's consuming car bombs. I'm learning so much!

Princess Theta - Pretty exciting about going to Boston. Wow, that's gotta be tough for DH to train while globe-trotting. Must be tough for you with him all over the world too. I felt really bad because Kathy had to put the girls in bed without me twice last week so I could sleep (LR's and parades really break up a day). I've never had a job that required travel. It's gotta be tough.

Topiary, fountain, doesn't matter, I'll drop the drawers wherever I need to:lmao: Wait a minute, that doesn't sound to good, uh, Mike don't read that!
Jodi - Sorry, you won't get away without a comment (or four!).

Let's see... In another context that would be the definition of most guys' dream girl ;) .

Or how about... I bet that's how you got your job. Oh wait, you work for family. That's not right!

Maybe this... I've heard of leaving a trail of bread crumbs to find your way back home but that's just yucky:scared1: .

Lastly and certainly leastly (apologies in advance:rolleyes: )... With all the trees, topiaries and such, what's one more exposed bush between friends.

Y'all can feel free to ban me from posting anymore. I'll understand.

If anyone's still left:rolleyes1 : Rest day for me today but we went to a school roller skating party. The first 30 minutes was holding up a slightly panicked DD7 then DW and I switched. The last hour was picking up a wet-noodle DD4 every 15 seconds. I figure about 150 x 40 lb deadlift. I'm counting it as 90 minutes of XT!

We've got some stuff going this week so I won't be around much. Happy St. Patty's day!:shamrock:

Sorry, I used to be a bartender, I just assume everyone knows as much about booze as I do. A car bomb is a pint of Guinness that you drop a shot of Baileys Irish Cream into and then chug it. Very popular in Irish pubs (at least in this area) and around St. Patricks Day. And of course, its always fun to watch a bunch of men in their 30s chug beer like they are in college.;)

Oh, and btw, thanks for my morning laugh :rotfl:

Oh my nerve, we've hit a new low:sad2: ....:thumbsup2 YES, I love it! A poopy trail, eh? Perhaps if I start running in remote areas I will have to utilize this new fangled tracking device...who needs a Garmin?

I won't touch the other one....

:rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: Not only have we hit a new low but I love how Mike "drops" that bomb on us and then casually comments that he'll be scarce around these parts this week because he has STD:thumbsup2 . No, not an STD, just STD:rolleyes1 . You'd think there was some taper madness or something going on around here...popcorn:: Well, Mike has an excuse I guess:confused3 .

I just have to report a great side effect of reduced mileage - I was able to donate blood today for the first time in a while :cloud9: . Being a vegetarian marathoner doesn't provide great chances for iron levels where the Red Cross wants them to be in order to donate blood. I guess I'll consider that my silver lining for the day since the leg hurt so much last night I had trouble sleeping. I give up:headache: .

Mikey!

Yeah, yeah, like Sara said, drop a few bombs popcorn:: and then run for the hills for a week.

Good Morning Everyone:

Just wanted to give an update - my step-brother-in-law passed away yesterday. He was kept on life support over the weekend while his family gathered. Yesterday he was given morphine and the resperator was turned off. He passed away at 4:00p.

Dave

Sorry to hear about your loss. It sounds like he put up a good fight but the cancer finally got him. Good luck in the next few days, I'm sure it will be busy.

Bill

Dave - So very sorry for your loss. My deepest sympathies to you and yours. Please check in as you're able just so we know you're hanging in there as best as can be expected.

Dave - :grouphug: So sorry to hear the news, my friend. Hang in there & be strong for those who may not have strength.

Jodi, Bill and any other DVCer's,

what were your deciding factors in buying into DVC?

Was there one thing that really made you think, yes, this is a good investment for us...?

Are the reciprocal agreements a good value? Jodi, I remember you saying using points for your cruise was not a good use of points.

[BThetaWoman[/B] - When we bought DVC things were a lot different in the economy. Today, I wouldn't have the means to do the same, no way. When we bought our DVC we bought @ Old Key West (cheapest on Disney property & the oldest...but the rooms are the largest). We went through a re-sale agency which went off without a hitch. I bought because I knew we'd continually go down to WDW & give them our $:rotfl: , so I might as well get it over with. However, I would not finance such a venture - that's just me.

Using points for anything other than staying @ DVC resort-specific locations is not worth it. However, you'll talk to others who use their points in whichever way they choose & not worry about it. When I was thinking about using them for a cruise it wasn't worth it in my estimation, but this is because I was factoring in that I could rent my DVC points for @ least $10 a point. Comparatively it was much better to rent, then book the Disney Cruise with cash. But again, that's me just trying to squeeze as much as I can out of the ownership:rolleyes1 . Let me know if you want any more info...are we thinking of buying????

I was giving it a fleeting thought, but if the reciprocal agreements are not a good use of points, well that is a deal breaker for me.

I too would not finance such a venture either. I get crazy if I have to pay late library fees!!:rotfl:

Hi to everyone! Lazy week for me, no mojo.:sad2:
