HEY ALL! What up, what up what UUUUUUP?!!

WOW, that's all I can say about this past weekend. I never thought I could enjoy myself so much with a bunch of DISBOTS, but there you have it:rotfl: .

Colleen - I, too, am feeling fine today:confused3 & plan to go for a short 3 miles today after work...go figure. I didn't feel nearly this good after MCM. It was so cool to finally meet you!! Our lunch together was terrific, I loved hearing about life on the Canadian prairies & getting to know you. Spoodles was great, thanks so much for arranging that! I am so happy that you did so well in your marathon, I don't think I would have had the fortitude to revise my training in such a manner that you did:thumbsup2 , WTG, woman! BTW, I'd love to see the picture of you & I (aka little girl:rotfl2: ) at the start, please send it along!

Sara - Please, please, please take care of that LEG!! I'm glad you were able to stick it out & finish!! Any serious discomfort like that & I woulda jumped on that dang sweeper bus, no doubt! I loved our Spoodles conversation:rolleyes1 & your kids are as cute & courteous as ever!! Seeing you all on Main St. was so uplifting!! I felt like you were there just for me:rolleyes: ! Where in the WORLD are you today? How is your leg after a few days?? I agree w/ Colleen, let's try & keep it down to maybe 1 more marathon this year, eh?

Steve - Hey, how's my hummus buddy doin?:) ? I had a great time chatting w/ you @ Spoodles!! Sorry I didn't find you anywhere on the course (you're too quick) or in the holding pen b4 the race. BTW, thanks so much for the schematics you drew for me on my styrofoam doggiebag!! It helped me find everyone...but you. You like that snow??? I got home Sun. right b4 it started & my kid got an extra vacation day on Mon.!!:yay: . Our flight out of MCO was delayed a bit b/c of thunderstorms, but we made it home, in the house, by 8:30 or so. Did you get your snowblower back for this storm?? How do you feel today?

Steve-OH - Great to meet you & Krista! How are you feeling little pregnant one? Sorry you had to endure my heinousness @ Spoodles, but fess up, Mike was worse, right? But didn't you have Kathy between the 2 of you as a buffer? I can't believe you guys are still there!! LUCKY!!!! It's freezing back home! So how do you feel today? It was so cool seeing you out there, wish I could've kept up, dude! Philly next!!

Chester - How in the WORLD did I miss you TWICE with than dang loin cloth on??? I'm so pissed! You must have pictures!! I loved catching up w/ you & Tracy @ Spoodles; ask her if I can borrow that afro-wig for next Halloween!!:rotfl2: . That thing ROCKS!! Big question of the day, how's your boy? Did he make it to the marathon? I hope he's ok & you're both feeling good today...are you home yet??

Mike - I learned some very interesting things while spying on you & Kathy on the terrace @ Boardwalk, but don't worry, your secrets are safe with me... Seriously, I had no idea you guys were there. How are the 2 of you feeling today? Kathy, you looked no worse for the wear on Sat. after your half!! Did the kids & grandparents bond over the long weekend?? Did the grandparents survive?:rotfl2: ? Mike, it was so cool seeing you @ the end of the 1/2!! And what can I say, dude? Thanks so much for getting me through that last 1/2 mile or mile or whatever the heck it was, of the marathon! I wouldn't have done as well if we hadn't have run across eachother. Kathy, I'd love a copy of the picture you took after the finish! That is, as long as Mike looks more tired than me & you only caught me from the waist up:rolleyes1 .

Lou - Where the heck WERE you???

Dave - The only thing missing this weekend was you (and Cindy)!! Hope your hip's better!

Cindy - You're in Jamaica now, so I'll just sit here & be jealous! Happy Birthday!!

Well the good news is that I made my flight out without any speeding or aggressive driving!!:woohoo: . In fact, it was delayed almost an hour b/c of the thunder storms that afternoon. The half marathon was great fun & I think I should stick to these, enuf of the 26 mile crap:headache: ! Actually, I have to say that the full wasn't that bad...I had less of a hard time the last 6 miles on this one than MCM:confused3 . I DID succumb to a Jodistop @ around mile 12 & learned something interesting...EVERYONE who is stopping after mile 12 is taking a Jodistop!! So when it looks like there's no line outside the portapotty, only a few people, be warned that you'll still be waiting for at least 2-3 minutes for one to empty out (no pun intended). Doing the deed is the quick part...pulling up tights over sweaty legs, taking care that all your queer gear doesn't fall in the dreaded HOLE, is what consumes most of the time in there!! After that I felt a little lighter & caught up w/ the 4:30 pace-wench. After listening to her motivational :cheer2: babble for a bit, something about her seemed annoyingly familiar. Turns out she was the same chick who I tried to keep up with @ the 4:15 pace @ MCM!! Dave, you remember her? She's actually really, very nice. I lost her @ around mile 25 when my family (mother) clotheslined me around the Boardwalk & made me take pictures w/ the family. I loved seeing my son there, though...although I think he was a little grossed out hugging a swollen, sweaty mom:rolleyes: . Then I saw Mike in Norway or somewhere (see, you didn't really know that you were going to be THAT supportive) & we finished! Then I made a B-line for the busses!! I love all the medals, they're kickin'!!

Hey Everybody!!

Cindy - I guess you are already tropical. Enjoy yourself and happy birthday!

Dave - It's great to see that you're setting such a great example for your girls and that they "get it". Be happy with yourself and what you have accomplished but keep reaching for your goals. Baby that hip!

Lou - Sorry I missed you in the corals. I'm pretty sure I saw you about 6 lanes over in the porta-pot lines (unless there was someone else with a shirt that said LOU on the front and a big beer mug on the back) but you were just exiting and I was at the all important front spot and didn't want to miss my opening.

Great race and excellent time! Sorry your didn't feel so great afterwards. I hope you are doing better today.

SteveOH - Enjoy the rest of your week. Then go home and get a vision test. How you could have passed me by and not seen the shirt....:confused3 It was great getting to spend some time with you and Krista.

WTG on your race! You did great.

SilverSteve - Hey, it was great getting to meet you this weekend. You truly seemed like you were having a blast the whole time! That's the way to enjoy a race weekend.

Chester - Anxious to hear how everything went for you. I'd heard Chet was having a rough time and you stuck with him. Very admirable! Loved the loin cloth, BTW!:rotfl:

Sara - I hope you all are having fun! I've said it before and I'll say it again; your girls are the BEST!! You and Mike obviously have this parenting thing perfected. The love you all show when you interact with each other is so evident. You two are my role models!!:worship:

I'm proud of you for sticking with it for the whole race. Considering all the stops you had to make you should be very proud of your effort. Now, focus on getting better!

Colleen - I'm so glad we got a chance to see you so much. It was great doing PI together. It's been so great to meet someone you thought was great only to find out that they are even nicer, sweeter, funnier, TALLER, etc. than you thought. :lovestruc

WTG on such a great race. You have so much to be proud of. You've got way more courage than I do even by sticking with it after all you've been through this fall. And then you nail a fabulous race!!

Enough of the love-fest you say? You've been nice to everyone but still haven't said anything about Jodi you say? Saving some witty jabs for our race-to-the-airport friend you say? WRONG!!!

Jodi - You single-handedly grabbed my marathon out of the trash heap and made it something that I can look back on fondly! You caught up to me when I had pretty much lost the desire to run another step, threw my on your back and made me SPRINT to the finish. Of course, I thought that either one of us might die as we crossed the line, but still... You probably saved me 10 minutes on my time (not important) and also made the dash to the finish a whole lot of painful fun. :worship: :worship: :worship:

My only regret is that I hope that I didn't cost you a 4:30 finish.

Thanks again!!

That's all I have time for right now. I'll try to post a mini-race report tonight at work (not that all I do at work is read and post or anything like that;) ).

Hey all--just a quick post from me. Most of ya'll know that Scott and I didn't have the best race--hit the "Bite Me Zone" in Animal Kingdom. Scott's legs started cramping really bad and he couldn't run more than a block or so without seizing up. So, we walked most of the second half. Still finished under 5:00 (4:54). Oh well, we knew we wouldn't PR--just wanted that Mickey medal. And, I guess the pain from the race is already history b/c DH and I are planning on going Goofy next year. We are nuts! Gotta run and try to unpack some! It was great meeting most of ya'll!

O.K., Here's the nitty-gritty race report (I spent way too much time typing away and decided it was too long. DELETE. Maybe I'll edit a bit and post it on the race report thread tomorrow).

I had a very nice half on Saturday. I loved riding the bus with Steve, waiting around with Tracy and Chester and seeing Colleen, Sara and family, and everyone else at MK, and finally Steve and Krista at Epcot.

I had planned on a finish somewhere between 2:00 and 2:15. I finished at 1:51, did all the post-race stuff and hiked back across the parking lot to where Steve and Krista were cowbelling. It was really nice to get to cheer some folks on and see so many WISHers pass by. I even got a big hug from Jodi as she passed by!

After a bit all the Main Streeters made there way just down from where we were so we joined them. I was watching for Kathy and saw here down the road. I was just getting ready to ask her if she wanted me to jump in and go to the finish with her when she asked me to go with her. Thanks again, Steve for bringing my bag back to the finish area!

Kathy finished strong and we enjoyed all the post-race fun with everyone.

Sunday was a different day.

It was great running into 3 of my most favorite ladies in the whole world (other than those that have the same last name as me!) as I exited the porta-pot. Once the race started however, I knew it was going to be a struggle. Nothing hurt but I felt the fatigue right away.

I decided to try to run a strong first half then let the chips fall where they may for the 2nd half. I saw Kathy at the TTC and told her that everything was fine but I was going to slow down. I was still on pretty much the same pace when I saw Kathy again at Poly, but after the 13.1 mat and the turn towards AK I just had to stop running. I did a mostly Walk-Run (pretty much only running when I knew there would be WISHers cheering the rest of the way until Epcot.

I knew Jodi was close behind because I saw her at the turn around near WWOS. She finally caught me somewhere around Morroco. A tap on the shoulder and "Hey dude, you cramping up or something?" and there she was.

I started running again and said "I suppose you're planning to run the rest of the way?". I told her to go ahead and she said "No way". I knew then that my goose was cooked!

By this point I knew that I was a couple minutes over getting a 4:30 finish but didn't know how long it had taken Jodi to cross the start so I told her "Go get your 4:30!" Well, to make a short story long, we end up hauling a** the last couple of tenths. My Garmin said we were going at a 7:15 pace at the end but it felt even faster. I thought I was gonna die!

Well, we both missed the 4:30 mark by a minute or so, but Jodi beat my time by 14 seconds (and Dave was bellyaching about 4 minutes at MCM!).

I gladly defer to Jodi as my running superior. You were so much stronger than me for the full. WTG!!

I feel great now (except for the blisters on my fingers from ringing the dang cowbells at the 5k!) and ran 4 easy miles on the TM Wed evening.

O.K. gotta go. Even my short report is a rambling novel!

Good Morning TEAM: :surfweb:

I'm really enjoying reading all the reports. I can visualize you all on the course, and I'm thinking how much fun everyone must have had partying together. How great it must have been to run into each other at the start and along the course. I'm very proud of all my teammates and friends. I can't wait to see you all, and run with you all in Philly.

So SteelerSteve- have you signed up for Philly yet? Give my best to Krista.

Mike- I officially signed up for the Cleveland Marathon. Are you running the National Marathon and then Cleveland all after running the Goofy? Wow. My SIL (the cool Aunt) is running the 1/2, and I said I would run it with her. Right now I haven't decided if I am going to continue on and run the whole full or if I'm going to stick with the 1/2. I'm registered for the full, but can switch to the half at the Expo if I want. The 1/2 and full start together and follow the same course for the first 12 miles or so. So I'm looking forward to helping SIL finish her first 1/2.

I've been diligently biking 30-35 min everyday. I still feel some irritation in my hip. It feels like there's something in the socket itself now. I'm also still going to run on Saturday. We'll see how it goes.

Hey TEAM: I submitted some of my photos for the podcast photo contest, but no one's voting for any of my photos. Could I recruit some of my friends/teammates to check out some of my photos and vote if you like any. Thanks. If you want to vote for a photo, I think you need to log into the photopost site. Click the login link in the upper right hand corner of the blue box.

Dave - First off, we really missed you this weekend.

Cool about Cleveland! I was really working on SteveOH to come join us.

As I told a few folks down at Disney, this week is not the week to decide your running future.

Jodi and I were talking on the the long walk back to start the full. Running the half on Saturday was a lot of fun. Just about the time you started getting tired you got to stop. The full, not so much.

So, I am going to do the full in Cleveland, God willing. The National Marathon will depend on my level of motivation over the next 6 weeks or so.

Cool pictures.

Rest that hip!

Jodi - I was hanging with the WISHers at the start area by the porta-potties. However, once everyone broke up for the start I really didn't see anyone again. I got pretty fatigued by Mile 20 or so and was sick as a dog at the finish. I headed back to CBR and laid in the tub until the nausea went away. I spent the rest of the trip hanging out with the family that came out to cheer me on.

Mike - That was me at the porta-potties. The shirt was a gift from DW. It was nice to hear "LOU!" the first 20 miles but it was getting on my nerves the last 6 mainly because I was sick. It's a shame we didn't get a chance to get together before the start.

Hopefully I'll catch up with you guys (and other WISHers) at a race in 2008. The plan is to do Philly in November. DW wants me to do the Disneyland 1/2 in August so that may happen as well. I am open to any other races in the northeast that anyone out there plans to run in 2008. I'm looking for a full to do in the spring.

Good Morning PhillyBound (w/ stops along the way) runners! Is everyone feeling pain-free this a.m.?:rotfl: I think I'm almost there...definitely a lot less painful than after MCM...no doubt due to the fact that I was able soak this time & not just rinse off & race to the airport. Don't get me wrong, though, Boardwalk locked the door on me, too b/c it was past 11 a.m. DVC is real strict about this apparently:confused3 . Of course my family was wandering around aimlessly after I passed them @ mile 25 even though I told them that we had to be out of the room by 11:lmao: . But alas, I got the "manager" (puh-lease) to let me in the room to finish packing & clean up.

Mike - Looking forward to a full-blown race report! Your take on that last bit of the full is a tad different than mine. The way I see it, I was gonna just trot on to the finish w/o any "kick" thoughts in my brain at all. I was HOPING you'd wanna take a walk break so I could stop, too. As I recall, it was YOU who shifted into high gear towards the end as I "drafted" off you:lmao: . It was that whole bungee cord thing I always talk about...So I must thank YOU for encouraging ME to give it my all for that last little bit. I'm inherently a lazy person & seem to do the bare minimum to get by...you changed that in those last minutes! Thank you, my friend:hug: !!

Dave - LOVE the pics & will vote today!!

Ran 3 miles yesterday & after the first it felt pretty good. It was windy & COLD! I must look for some local races or ones that I can drive to...this flying around to run is getting expensive!!:headache: Will write more later!!!!! I should work, even for just a little while!

It was great running into 3 of my most favorite ladies in the whole world (other than those that have the same last name as me!) as I exited the porta-pot!

Awe, that is so sweet! The feeling is mutual!

Not much time, but the photos are up. The one we had taken at the start turned out great! It is in my batch of photos, PM me if you can't find it!

Mike, the picture Kathy and I took at the finish turned out really nice as well.

So did we pick a hotel yet for Philly, I want to book!:yay: :yay:

More later, my mom is here visiting from Canada, so I can't get online very much.

Thank you, my friend:hug: !!
Jodi - "My friend"? Wow, I've moved up a step.

Jodi was telling Kathy and I that her son asked if she was having dinner with her Dis-bot friends and she said, and I quote "They're not my friends". I'm glad we're getting all warm and fuzzy.:grouphug:

Your recollection of the end is WAY wrong. Don't you remember smacking me on the back of the head and yelling "Run you worthless piece of Sh**!!!" ? That was right before you tripped the guy trying to pass us and right after you mooned the CM in Norway! That's the only reason I picked up the pace. I was scared for my life!:scared1:

Will write more later!!!!! I should work, even for just a little while!
BTW, what the heck do you do for a living (I've always meant to ask but you are always distracting me by saying something hilarious)? I'm guessing something like brokering organs harvested from bums or maybe quality control tester of high-fiber foods. Am I close?

Lou - Cleveland, baby! What could be better than running along the shores of beautiful Lake Erie in the spring?

Colleen - The pre-race picture is great. Have fun with your mom. I bet she's loving the exchange rate.

BTW, one of my favorite parts of the weekend was seeing the confused look on people's face when you told them you were from NC after they heard your Saskatoon (or is it Regina?) accent. Say hello to Dale Jarrett for me.

DD7 was all excited today because I let her take my medals to school to show her class. Pretty cool that she is proud of her mom and dad. Either that or, even at her age, it's all about the bling!

See ya!

Lou - Cleveland, baby! What could be better than running along the shores of beautiful Lake Erie in the spring?

Mike & Dave - I'll put Cleveland down as a race to consider. I have only been to Cleveland once, for business, but I enjoyed the city. The travel thing may nix Cleveland because I just made a travel committment in 2008 as you will see later in this post.

I'm going to start training with a friend in 2008 that got me into this whole marathon thing. Starting next week I will plan out some races that he and I can run together. It will be cool to start running with an experienced runner plus we are both competitive.

So far it looks like I will run a few local races in the spring...
Citizens Bank Caesar Rodney Half Marathon (Wilmington, DE) - 3/9
Broad Street Run (Phila, PA) - 5/4

I also just registered for the Disneyland 1/2 Marathon in August! DW says it can be part of my 40th birthday present. I have always wanted to go to DL and I didn't see myself running WDW again in 2009.

Kind of a drive-by since I have to get internet away from my room which :headache: .

Thanks from the bottom of my heart for the kind words about my DD's:love: . You know what they say about God not giving you more than you can handle...well, he did right by me:laughing: . I know how blessed I am and give thanks daily. Kind of like the thanks I give for my WISH family:grouphug: . When we were talking at Spoodles about going to hang out with our internet friends I was thinking how amazing it is to have met so many truly great people that I wouldn't have otherwise met.

Mike - I've decided Jodi is all talk:rolleyes1 . She says she's not about the speed and we're not her friends but she's just talking smackpopcorn:: .

Jodi - You know we love you girl:hug: . Mike was giving you huge props when I spoke with him and Kathy at The Boardwalk Bakery. You are truly a beast:worship: .

Colleen - The Embassy Suites on Ben Franklin Parkway for Philly if the cost is not prohibitive:thumbsup2 . I will seriously look into hotels once I am back to reality on Monday. I do have some info printed out in my office. Loved the ASI pics!!

I am going to call my ortho today to try to get in ASAP once I am home. I haven't run post race yet but I've done yoga daily. No soreness and I feel good except for the obvious. I am going to try to hit the elliptical today but park walking should cover the cardio for the day if nothing else.

Happy reverse taper to all this weekend:cheer2:

Jodi - "My friend"? Wow, I've moved up a step.

Jodi was telling Kathy and I that her son asked if she was having dinner with her Dis-bot friends and she said, and I quote "They're not my friends". I'm glad we're getting all warm and fuzzy.:grouphug:

Mike - That whole "friend" thing is just a figure of speech, there, skippy! BTW, you weren't supposed to tell anyone the TRUE story of what happened (I hate Norway! ). My job is quite stress-less, I work for my brother/family, which owns several car wash/oil change joints in CT. I'm the bookkeeper, accounts payable, accounts receivable, various bullcrap employee. But for some reason they keep me away from the customers...:confused3 . In ANOTHER lifetime (pre-Spencer's elementary school years) I was a paramedic:scared1: . I know, I know, hard to believe, huh? Why they would give me narcotics, needles, a defib & a license to use them is beyond me...! The city I worked in (Bridgeport) was quite heinous @ times...oh the stories I could tell. If at all possible, after years on the road, I became less empathetic than I am NOW! Good lord, imagine calling 911 & I show up at your door:sad2:. I went part time after Spencer entered kindergarten (he was a daycare fixture for a while there) & after getting into an accident in the ambulance (nothing bad, mind you, I got out & yelled @ the lady in the other car, but enuf to figure that my luck was running out) & came to work for my brother. A few years ago I let the part-time gig go. I still have my license, though, so you never know.... .

I think it's sooooo cute your daughter brought your medals in, all beaming & proud! My son already forgot that I ran:rotfl2: .

Sara - What do you mean I'm a beast?? That's creepy, no? Bruce said obviously I didn't "give it my all" in DC 'cause Goofy took only 5 mins. more. His theory is that I'm a re-incarnation of a German soldier from WWII (I'm 1/2 German 1/2 Italian....I know:sad2: ) & that I just go into a marching/running trance that can't be broken:rotfl: . Aww, he's so sweet:lovestruc .

Colleen - Have a terrific visit w/ mom:hug: !

A shout out to all of those who took pictures of us DisBots @ Spoodles & other spots...I don't have any cool pics of us all:guilty: .

OK, I'll bite, what's up w/ the Cleveland Marathon?? When is it, etc...Isn't Cleveland a hole??? No offense:rolleyes1

Hey Jodi- The Cleveland Marathon is Sunday, May 18. The reason I'm running it is because my SiL lives in Cleveland (she's the Cool Aunt that my DDs adore). The Cool Aunt came with us to help watch the girls when I ran the Disney Marathon last year. She's run on and off, and has always wanted to run a half marathon. She got motivated by watching the marathon at Disney last year, and seeing how much fun I've been having running races. I told her if she wanted to run the half marathon, I'd run it with her. The half and full start at the same time and follow the same course. The half peels off for the finish line just after mile 12. So I signed up for the full, thinking I could run the first 12+ miles with the Cool Aunt and then I'd go on and finish the full marathon. Although, there's a part of me that's also thinking maybe I'll just run the half. It would be cool to cross the finish line with her, and see her reaction. Here's the details.

OMG! Guess who's gonna be in Cleveland the weekend of May 17-18th--yep, you got it, the Thompson family!!!:cool1: Now, of course we're gonna be there for a wedding Sat. the 17th (so we'll probably be in no shape to run Sunday morning) But you might just have some WISH scream-teamers along for the ride! Super cool, b/c I had it in my mind that the cleveland race was the previous weekend!

Hello All!

I've been back physically for three days; now I'm back mentally.

I had such great time last weekend; I really enjoyed finally meeting you all :goodvibes

Mike: It was great meeting you and Kathy. Thanks for letting me cut in the bus line and sit with you two on the way to the half. You helped me talk away some of my nervous energy. I hope you two had a nice little mini-vacation and that the kids/grandparents survived each other.

Colleen: Great to meet you; and thanks again for including me in the Sat. night Spoodles dinner; that was really fun. I'm glad your run went better than expected.

Sara: I'm glad to have met you prior to race day; the stories of your "game day" personality transformation is now legendary ;) I enjoyed meeting your family; now rest up and take care of those lingering injuries, aches and pains.

Steve(OH): Congratulations on your marathon PR :thumbsup2 . I enjoyed chatting with you and Krista during the weekend; Krista was a two-day scream-teaming fool! Please thank her for all the support.

Jodi: How's my fellow hummus-eating New Englander? My kids had a snow day as well on Monday, but I was still at WDW! DW had to take some time off work; not exactly what she was planning on after having them all weekend while I was off running through DisneyWorld. Nice job on your races!

Chester: It was nice meeting you and the family. I shall always have an indelible image of you, as it is not every day that a man in lime-green caveman attire runs up next to you during a race.

Lou: How did I miss chatting with you all weekend? I'll catch you on your home turf next November.

Cindy and Dave: Thanks for holding down the thread fort; I look forward to meeting you both next November. :)

Congratulations to you all! :thumbsup2 After essentially starting this whole marathon gig after such a long absence I ran slow, free and easy; soaked it all in; and had a fantastic weekend--thanks in large part to you guys! :woohoo:

Hey guys! Wow, it's active on here again! I really am going to keep up with all of you when I get back from WDW, but to be honest, since we're still in WDW, I haven't kept up with all the posts on here (which basically means, I couldn't give a rat's patootie about all of you. Kidding. ;) ).

Man, I really miss being with you guys. Krista and I both wish it was LAST Friday right about now.

Ok, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to run Cleveland. Yeah Mike, it's your fault. I couldn't resist, especially seeing that good old buddy Dave is going to be there, too (HI, Dave!). I'm still going to run the Flying Pig half, which is two weeks prior to Cleveland, so I'll have to take it easy on that course for the "taper run." So who else is in? I'm sure we could get some more Cleveland junkies! Jodi? C'mon, you know you want to! :thumbsup2

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I'll try to pop in here a few more times before we leave Sunday. I'm going to write a race report on the flight home, so I'll post that when we get back to good ole Cincy.

Talk to you all later!

Steve

Steve
Steve- It would be great to see you in Cleveland. That would make my day. Make sure you bring your wife too! OK, you and Krista each go have a Mickey Bar for me.
