Lou: How did I miss chatting with you all weekend? I'll catch you on your home turf next November.
Steve - I hear you. I would have liked to have actually met a lot of you to put faces with screen names but WDW was pretty hectic. Plus I had a lot of family out there that took up all of my post race time...after I got my senses back about 3 hours after the race. I'll make sure to catch up with you in Philly.

You know I have been sick since the race ended on Sunday. I caught a flu bug that kicked in on Monday morning and has had me down all week. I even had a fever on Wednesday and that hasn't happened to me since I was a kid. I think I will skip the beer drinking after I finish the next marathon...yeah right.

Lou

Well, crapola! DH just informed me that I have the wedding date wrong on my calendar--it's the weekend after the Cleveland Marathon. Guess it was just wishful thinking on my part! Oh well, maybe Philly, definitely WDW Jan 09

Lou: I completely understand; there were a lot of screen names I didn't have the chance to match faces with as well.

Hey, for the humidity the Marathon presented and the fact you were brewing a flu bug, your finish time was great! Are you planning any marathons prior to November's Philly? I noticed WDW was your 2nd marathon; it was my 2nd as well (of course my first was 17 years ago; 1991's MCM). Your time is right in the ballpark I'd be shooting for in Philly (if training goes well). I was out to finish this year, scared of what the Goofy would bring, and rehabbing bad knees, but in 1991 I was 4:12 for MCM; I'd love to shoot for low-4:00 next November (if my surgically repaired knees cooperate) ::yes:: .

Take care and get healthy.

Steve - I am going to start training with a friend from NJ in 2008 and we are working on a game plan for the year. He has a lot more experience than I do but he is also rehabbing surgically repaired knees (11/2007) so he wants to start slowly. I think the initial plan is to run the Caesar Rodney 1/2 Marathon in DE in March.

The Delaware Marathon on 5/18 is looking like a possibility for me. The Broad St Run (10 miler) in Philly is also a strong possibility.

I also registered for the Disneyland 1/2 yesterday. DW said it's an early 40th b-day gift. I'll take it.

Sounds like you did real well at WDW. Congrats!! The humidity was murder. I really wanted a sub-4:00 time but that was probably a stretch for a second marathon. However, I still had a shot until Mile 22 when I totally broke down. It gives us something to work on for 2008.

Hope to see you somewhere in 2008.

Lou

Well, it's a little after 2AM Saturday morning. Impossible to think that it's been a whole week since I was tossing and turning, just about to really start to sleep prior to the 3AM wake-up call.

Sara - Enjoy your last little bit before entering the real world again. And yes, I think you're right about Jodi being all talk.

Jodi - A paramedic huh? You sure it wasn't just a cover for your skid row organ harvesting? I'm glad your current gig is a "stress-less" one. I'd imagine working with family could be quite the opposite at times.

Ahhh, Cleveland in the spring... First off, what do you care if the place is a hole? You run D.C. and don't see some the most famous scenery in the world. Second, it meets your most important criteria: a real quick ride from the finish to the airport.

BTW, nothing says "love" like being compared to a WWII German soldier. That Bruce is one smooth fella.

Stephanie - Come for the wedding. Stay for the week!:thumbsup2 Maybe the Tribe is in town that week. Catch a few games.

Colleen - I didn't miss your Dirty Banana comment to Cindy. I'm just waiting for the right moment.:scratchin

Hello All!

I've been back physically for three days; now I'm back mentally.
SilverSteve - Welcome back! Did they loose your mental at the airport?
The kids and the grands survived quite well, minus one small incident where DD4 thought it to be a good idea to squirt half the toothpaste tube into the sink:confused3 .

Lou - I hope you are kicking the flu bug. Feel better soon.

SteveOH - Going Goofy, I see! Between the Flying Pig, Cleveland, THE BABY!!!, Philly, and Goofy you're up for a busy year!

How 'bout this. You come on over for the National Marathon in March, and I'll back you up in the delivery room in August. That way we can spend the entire year together!

Speaking of SteveOH going Goofy; I know it's way too early but I saw that Goofy '09 is 65% full already. Any thoughts of what everybody is going to do next Jan? I know I've heard Colleen and Sara say they are skipping Disney. Does that still hold true for you two? How about everybody else?

I was really hoping for a few weeks to forget about it first (kind of like the 6 week rule for getting back in the saddle after childbirth:rolleyes1 ) but it looks like a bunch of fools are going to push me into a hasty decision (much like the reason why the above 6 week rule isn't the 6 month rule, we DH's being the hasty bunch of fools in that case).

I ran 4 miles on the TM Friday evening. Everything feels just peachy.

It is now 3:30AM (slow typer!). A week ago we were catching the bus with SilverSteve. Where did the week go?

Good Morning Teammates: :surfweb:

OK, I'm heading out the door to join my FleetFeet running group. We'll see how it goes. This is my first run since Thurs, Jan 10th. My hip feels OK right now - not great, but OK. I'm starting to think that what's bothering it is an IT band thingy. WISH me luck. I feel strangely nervous about this run.

Please vote for my Podcast Photo Contest Pics! Could I recruit some of my friends/teammates to check out some of my photos and vote if you like any. Thanks. If you want to vote for a photo, I think you need to log into the photopost site. Click the login link in the upper right hand corner of the blue box.

OptiMike--Yeah, that's what Scott said. You could go down the week early, stay with IL's and run the race. He couldn't come b/c I've already "used" all his vacation for this year:rolleyes1 Will be thinking about the 1/2.....I'm sure my MIL would love to have the kidlets for a whole week instead of just the weekend!

Hey Everyone: Hope you're having a great "reverse taper" week. I ran 6.6 miles with my Fleet Feet group in just a little over an hour. I think I came in around 9:20 mpm. I'll take it. My legs felt really tight, and my hip was a little sore but not too bad. All and all I think it was an OK run for getting out there for the first time in almost 10 days.

Oh, this was cool. They were raffleling (sp?) off tickets to the "Spirit of the Marathon" movie that's playing on Jan 24th, and they drew my name. Whoo hoo! Nice little reward for getting out there today.

OK, off to take DD10 princess: to tae kwon do.

Dave--take it easy on that hip. Especially if you think it's an IT band thing. But you don't need advice from me. I'm sure you already knew that. ;) GOod job on the run. Cool that you're going to see Spirit of the Marathon! Krista and I are heading out to see it this Thursday, too. I know it's gonna make me want to sign up for about 3 more marathons this year.

Ok, Krista's going to get on me for being online while we're still on vacation (hey, did I rub it in enough that we're still in WDW! :) ). Talk to you guys later!

Steve

I just wanted to say hi here. I can't possibly wade through all the pages of this thread, so I am not altogether sure who is participating in Philly next November. I am a new WISHer who is just getting serious about running. I also happen to live in Philadelphia!

My husband and I are doing the WDW half next year, and I am considering doing the Philadelphia half (don't know about my husband on that one!). I'm not going to decide for a bit until I get farther into my training. However, even if I don't run this one I definitely want to cheer on any WISHers who are there. So count me in for something!

I'm a lifelong Philadelphia girl so I'm also a resource for hotels/meets etc. I may even be willing to host something (depending on the state of some planned renovations!). So let me know if you guys need anything.

Kira - Welcome!! Congratulations on getting into this whole running thing.

Just to bring you up to speed: A number of us WISHers did the Marine Corps Marathon in October. We had so much fun together we decided we NEEDED to do another race together this year. We somehow decided on Philly and have picked up a few new friends here and there that are interested as well. The more the merrier!!

137 of us will be at your house for the weekend. We like pasta!

Kira - Welcome to our thread!! Definitely the more the merrier:grouphug: . It's great that you're getting interested in serious running. Please feel free to ask any questions as there is a wealth of information on the board. There is also a weekly training thread to go to for info and support if you're interested. Thanks so much for offering inside info on Philly logistics. What do you suggest for lodging? Are you familiar with the marathon course? We are kind of anxious to decide on a place to stay before too long. We're still basking in the WDW marathon afterglow but we kind of need another marathon or two on the horizon to keep us motivated.

Jodi - My referring to you as a "beast":worship: and you indicating it sounds creepy and then I hear Bruce is referring to you as a WW II German Soldier and you find that...less creepypopcorn:: ?!

Mike - Since we're running Philly on 11/23 and I'll be in Hawaii with the family for the holidays from 12/20-1/3, I am 99.9% positive I will not be running WDW '09:sad1: .

Drive-by again since I am only back in the office for 3 days this week before I fly back to Orlando on Wednesday:confused3 . My auditor friends have already found me:headache: . I did run 4 miles this morning but the leg isn't real happy. I am going to the ortho on 2/1. I hope to be truly back to reality by the weekend so I'll catch up then if not sooner!

Hi gang,

Just a quick note, spent to whole weekend in Chapel Hill/Durham for DD's swim meet. I had a good time with the swim parents Saturday night. DD8 did well and swam the anchor leg in their IM relay team, she came from behind to finish first!:woohoo: It was so exciting to watch and my mother, 82, (who is more competitive than I) was her biggest cheer leader. Great way to finish the meet, all the girls were given medals for their relay win!

Kira, welcome, and thanks for your offer for advice, we will be sure to tap into it!

Kira - Nice to meet another Philadelphian on the boards. I'm actually formerly from South Philly and presently in South Jersey.

Just a quick post. I am still dealing with this flu bug that I picked up at WDW last Monday. I am just not feeling well. My body is still achy and my chest is congested. Haven't run since the marathon which sucks. I'm hoping to get on the TM tomorrow if I feel better. No way I am going outside as it's in the teens here today!

Hey DisBots!!

Kira - Welcome to our incredibly supportive & loving family:rotfl: ...Nice to see you opening up your home for our travel needs... How far are you from the airport?????

Mike - Hello, dear! How are you today? Is the family all "back to normal"? Are you working this week?? Glad you are able to run painfree. Not sure about Disney in '09, we're planning a DisneyCruise in Feb of '09 & don't think the funds'll be there for both.

Chester - OK, where are you?? I NEED to see pics ofyou in your caveman thong!!

Sara - Ok, you're right, I'm a GestapoBeast:lmao: . Sorry your leg sucks..perhaps you should just elliptical until your appt. on the first?! Can't believe you're going back down to Orlando in a day or 2:rolleyes1 popcorn:: .

Colleen - TOOOOOOOO cool about your daughter! So glad your mom could be there for that...that's SUCH good stuff!!:woohoo: Tell your daughter that the "little girl standing next to you" said CONGRATS:cheer2:

Dave - How's the hip, man?

Cindy - Back from paradise yet?

Lou - Hope you feel better already...sheesh!:headache:

No running this weekend...NYC on Sat. & football/laziness yesterday. Besides, it's Way cold outside. I suppose today I'll do 4 or so & see what happens!

Gotta run, check back in later.. HI to all those I missed!!

Hey Everyone: I did a little running this morning. I went to the gym and did 10 minutes on the bike, 2 miles on the treadmill at 9:10 mpm pace, and another 10 minutes on the bike. My hip's feeling OK. Still a little irritation in there. You know what's been helping it a lot? I've been massaging it with a tennis ball, and that really seems to loosen up the fascia in there. Not much else new here. I start teaching my new course tomorrow. So I gotta finish getting it ready.

Welcome Kira- It's great to have someone else on the Philly team.

Here's my blatant plug for photo votes...
